When you need real protection for your gear, steel cables or soft vinyl just don’t cut it. The RetraxPRO MX uses impact-resistant, 1" thick aluminum slats that won’t bend or sag, even when it’s loaded down with up to 500 lbs evenly distributed. The built-in locking handle lets you secure the cover at any point along the rails, keeping smaller cargo hidden while still leaving room for oversized items. Close and lock it with your tailgate for a fully sealed, theft-resistant setup that gives you peace of mind wherever you park.

Sticking panels and frozen hinges are a thing of the past. This retractable cover glides on sealed ball-bearing rollers inside the rails, so it opens and closes in seconds with one hand and never needs lubrication. The spiral track system in the canister keeps the cover from rubbing against itself, preventing wear and helping it retract evenly every time. Whether you’re loading tools or grabbing groceries, it slides smoothly without noise or binding.

Rain, snow, and dust are no match for the RetraxPRO MX. Weather stripping and foam seals run all the way around the bed to keep out moisture, while the overlapping top edge blocks water from sneaking in through the tailgate. Any water that does make it inside the canister gets routed through two built-in drain tubes, keeping the storage area dry and free from mildew. No matter the season, your gear stays clean and protected.

This cover sits just 1" above the bed for a sleek, streamlined profile that blends with the truck’s lines instead of standing out. The matte black powder-coated finish resists scratches and fading, even in harsh sun or snow. Heavy-duty aluminum construction shrugs off dents and impacts, so it keeps looking solid and tight after years of hauling.

Getting it installed doesn’t require drilling or special tools. The side rails clamp right to the bed rails, and the preassembled canister drops in place—just tighten the bolts and hook up the drain tubes. The angled canister bottom saves bed space, leaving more room under the cover for long or bulky items. It’s a sturdy, straightforward setup that’s ready to use right out of the box.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the RetraxPro MX Hard Tonneau Cover in matte black. You can upgrade your old tonneau cover and not have to worry about any snapping or hook and loop connections. The RetraxPro MX Hard Tonneau Cover is the best way to cover up your truck bed. One of it's great features is, it can be locked anywhere along the rails you please. It's perfect for keeping your gear dry, covering up that fifth wheel head and you can even use it to secure your elongated cargo. The latch itself doubles as a handle. When you're ready to lock it, it sits flush within the cover and you can lock it up with the included keys.
When you've done that you can put the cover over top. The whole thing rolls up into the flush mounted box for a low profile design. It only takes up about 12 inches of space behind your cab. It's a simple clamp on installation and the rails only sit about an 1-1/4" high on top of our truck bed rails. Here on the inside they take up about 1-3/4". The sealed ball bearing rollers within the cover make opening and closing easy.
And because they're sealed, they're maintenance free. The whole thing is made out of an industrial strength aluminum, it's gonna keep out the elements and it can support distributed loads of up to 500 pounds. When used with the locking tailgate, it's furthers your security. The whole thing is UV protected and it features a limited lifetime warranty. It's an easy no drill installation, it simply attaches to your truck bed rails with the provided clamps. And that's going to complete our look at the RetraxPro MX Hard Tonneau Cover.

After about a year owning this cover, I still would buy it again. If you set it up right in the first place, it will work flawlessly. The locking mechanism still works great. The rolling part still works great. Aside from a solid cover, this is the most secure cover I have ever had. It does get some drips of water inside after washing the truck but its not enough to worry about, even if you had a bed full of stuff.

So on the plus side, love how it opens all the way up. When were loading the bed for travel, I need it fully open. Downside is the amount of room the canister takes up and the water as previously mentioned. Still quite easy to use!

Install looks great Jesse! We couldn’t agree more about the instructions. Honestly, unclear instructions are exactly why we started making our own install videos many moons ago, because seeing it done can make all the difference. It’s good to hear the cover feels solid and slides smoothly once installed. Your notes on water sealing and debris are fair, especially with RamBox-equipped beds and tailgate fitment. We appreciate you sharing your experience, and we hope it continues to serve you well over time.
