Header bar on Access Toolbox tonneau cover

The Toolbox tonneau cover from Access is specially designed to fit a truck bed with a toolbox. This truck-bed cover rolls up so that you can haul bulky items or rolls down to shield and secure your vehicle's bed and cargo. The tonneau works with most over-the-rail toolboxes that are 19" to 21" wide - and open or closed, the cover won't interfere with use of your toolbox. The custom-fit cover sits 1-1/2" above your truck bed and keeps air from getting caught by the tailgate, thus reducing drag. That can improve your gas mileage by up to 10 percent. And the exclusive Access Slantback fit angles toward your tailgate to give your truck a stylish, streamlined look.

Rolled up Access Tool Box tonneau with straps

Velcro closures on the sides help seal the cover to your truck box and allow you to peel it back quickly for loading. The tonneau stores neatly behind your toolbox, secured by premium storage straps that are designed to keep your cover from rubbing against the toolbox.

The cover is constructed of double coated, reinforced UV-blocking vinyl, so it won't fade in the hot sun. The material stays flexible down to -40 F and won't shrink, regardless of the temperature. Black powder coated aluminum bows act as ribbing to support your cover and make it easy to roll up.

XT Dial tension adjuster for Access tonneau cover for truck with tool box

Customize the cover tension by turning the XT-Dial easy-grip tension adjuster at the front of the cover, near your toolbox. The special header bar forms a tight barrier between the cover and your toolbox to keep out dirt, rain, snow and ice. The Element weather seal at the toolbox and a reinforced vinyl flap at the tailgate also help to keep out the elements.

Tite Bite clamp for Access Toolbox tonneau cover

The contoured, black powder coated aluminum tonneau rails resist rust. They sit inside your truck-bed rails so that you can still use stake-pocket-mounted accessories, such as ladder racks and tie-down anchors. Easily install the rails on a truck with an under-the-rail, drop-in bed liner. Over-the-rail liners can be cut to allow room for the installation clamps. The tonneau's rails attach easily to your truck-bed side rails using Tight Bite clamps. The specially designed teeth on these clamps seize the integrated ridges in the rails, ensuring a firm grip.

Auto Latch II for Access Original tonneau cover

Once the tonneau cover is unrolled and in place, the AutoLatch II dual locking system automatically engages 2 locks - 1 on each side - to hold the tonneau closed. And locking the cover won't interfere with your tailgate - open and close it as usual or add a tailgate lock (sold separately) to get secure storage for your cargo. To unlatch the cover, simply pull the cord for easy, one-hand operation. Cover your assets with this tonneau from Access.

Video Transcript for Access Toolbox Edition Soft Roll-Up Tonneau Cover Installation - 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

What's going on everybody Adam here with etrailer. Today, we have a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2,500. And we're going to be taking a look at the Access Toolbox Edition Soft Roll-up Tonneau Cover. You all know the many benefits to having a tonneau cover, yes it's going to protect all the contents from all that rain and snow that you may have. Also, it's going to increase your fuel economy. But also the main thing for me is just to protect anything from theft.

Because people just have sticky fingers. But sometimes you really don't have the option to you have both a toolbox and a tonneau cover.Sometimes you really just have to pick one or the other. Well, this is the main benefit to having this tonneau cover. We can have the lockbox here, have all our tools and stuff in there and have all of our fun recreational stuff in here. And since we have a locking tailgate, everything is nice and secure.

It is a very durable vinyl material and it is going to resist against the sun and all the elements that mother nature is going to throw at it. And it's going to keep all of that water out too. And it is pretty low profile as well. With the toolbox, we're losing a little bit of the rail space but with the tonneau cover, we're not.So, if you're like me and you like to talk after maybe around a golf or maybe after a long day at work, you still have these rails to sit relax. The access tonneau cover gives you quick and easy access.

Because all you got to do is just grab this little string here, pull that down, one hand, that's all you got to do. And then you can go ahead and roll all this up. Just like that. So, you can go ahead and if you're going on a trip and you want to keep your bed open, whether you have contents in there or you just like it better that way. We have these little straps.

And they're just going to click right at the back of the cover on both sides. And we can adjust this.I can actually roll it over one more time, then we can go ahead and tighten this up. Just going to hold this back on here and just grab this and bring it forward. Nice and tight. Just like that. With the tonneau cover rolled up, we can get a closer look at our rails. So, these are going to be made of an aerospace grade aluminum. So, they're not going to rust away over time. And even the clamps are made of this aerospace grade aluminum which is great. So, they're not going to rust, it's going to be easy to take on and off if you need to. But it looks good so you don't really have to. And we do have a powder-coated finish too. So, it gives a nice little look, blends in with the side rail colors on our Silverado. If you're tired of having to choose between a tonneau cover or a toolbox, etrailer has got a solution for you. The access tonneau cover, it works just as well as any other soft roll-up tonneau cover. But it just makes your truck to be able to do more. And that's something I like because trucks are made for working. And it also looks really good too. First things first, we want to make sure that our toolbox is going to be compatible with the tonneau cover and check. All we have to do is just make sure that your toolbox is going to be between 19 and 21 inches. Our weather guard one here is within that range, so we're good. Next thing we need to do is install our seal. Usually what we would do is take our seal and place it on our bulkhead here. I have a Spray In Bedliner and it's not really going to stick that well. So, what I'm going to do is actually just go ahead and put it on the inside ridge here. Right where the toolbox curls up and over that bulkhead. So, that's what I'm doing, if you don't have a Spray In liner, definitely just clean it up and put it there. That's what we need but I just don't think the seal is going to stay there with this liner. So, that being said, go ahead and take all that stripping off the back. Slowly work your way, giving it a nice amount of pressure, make sure all that sticky gets adhere to that box or your bulkhead. What's nice about the seal, it's going to make sure that no water is going to enter in. So, whenever you do have your tonneau cover on, you don't have to worry about all that water. So, all the stuff in your . bed of your truck is going to be nice and safe. Once it's all on, just go back through and give it an extra, a little bit more love and make sure it stays put.Whenever that's done, you can go ahead and just take your toolbox and put it back to where it was and be sure to really press on it to get that seal up against the bulkhead like that. And then you can go ahead and secure your box back down. Next thing we want to do is take our plate here. And this is going to go right up against our box. Just fits right in there but what you want to do, you want to push it up against much as you can, if you have an extra set of hands, that's great. If not, it's okay. You can get it done. And then what we're going to do is take our clamps and they're going to go right here and I'm going to use a half inch socket. That's what we're going to need to get the job done. You want to make sure that the nut's going to be facing out so we can get to it and hold that bolt against the back of the back bracket just to keep it in place. Then you go ahead and tighten it up. And we just want to make sure it's not too tight but tight enough so it doesn't go anywhere. Next thing to do is take your rails. And what we're going to do is make sure that this piece is going to be towards our tailgate. We're going to line this up just like this. And what we need to do is measure our toolbox now with the seals and stuff, if it is above 20 we want to make sure that we are going to have a quarter inch gap right here. And then we just need to make sure that we put the clamps in the correct spots. So, obviously we're going to have one big clamp going back here. But with the rest of that space pretty much divided into threes and those two lines that divide it into three that's where we want to put our clamp. And the one spot where we need to put it's around here. But we don't have the capabilities of putting it there. So, just going to slide it forward a little bit. If you have an extra set of hands, grab them, it's always nice to have a friend whenever you're doing this. But in my case I don't. But you can get it done by yourself. And we're going to be using the half inch socket that we used before to get this done. Whenever we're setting up these clamps, you see this edge right here, we want it to be nice and flush with the bedside rails here. So, be sure to line that up make your measurements and continue. And for the big old clamp, this is going to go inside of our stake pockets. So, grab one side. And what we're going to do is you'll notice on the inside there's a little tiny lip like the lip that you have right here but it's in the steak pocket. We want this to go in underneath that clip. Because it will give us a lot better grip. And with this one here, you can set the bracket in there and wedge it underneath there. We do have a fishing wire which is included with the kit and that'll make it a little bit easier. You can just run it through this little hole up, thread it on and pull it through. But I am going to do it without it, you just put your finger in there, grab it and it works just as well, a little bit quicker. So, now that we do that, we have a little tiny patch of soft material that is going to protect our bed. We really don't need it if you have a Spray In Bedliner but if it's a bare bed, definitely go ahead and do that. If you have a Drop-in Bedliner make sure to cut all that out and then make a little spot for it and then put that little protective strip there to protect your truck.Same size nut. Get it started on there and inaudible 00:08:41 go up as far as we can really it's about in the middle and tighten her down. And once that is all tight, be sure to just double check your measurements just in case. We want to make sure there's a fourth of an inch here. And of course we have another little measurement right up here and we want to make sure that gap is an inch. So, triple check and then we can move on to the next step which is some more seal stuff. So, with this seal, it's going to be unique to all the others. And what we want to do is find that little channel and this is going to sit up on this rail here. And that channel is going to be like this facing our box. So, once you get that straightened out to where you want, you will have a little bit of excess, we will have to trim a little bit. Need some scissors for that but go ahead and peel it off and get to seal it.Put it down right on that edge. Be very so gentle because this is really sticky stuff. Once it's done it inaudible 00:09:44 to stay down. Next thing we want to do is grab these. They are going to be labeled one has an L on it and one is going to have an R on it. So, left and right. And what we want to make sure of here is to put it on the right side of course. But we want to pay attention to this seal. We want this big flap to be away from that. And we want this side to be down because this is going to fit in the channel really nicely like that. And there's going to be a little threaded piece in there. We can go ahead, line that up like that. And we're going to take our longer bolt with a washer and do our best to line that up and tighten it.We're going to do this for this side and the other. So, don't tighten it with the tool yet, we still want to be able to move this around and that is just for setting this up later. But just get it threaded in enough to where it doesn't fall out. Now what we want to do is slide these in a little bit so they're not going to get in the way. And then we're going to grab this, bring her down and it's not going to go underneath the side rails, it's going to go on top of it, place it down like that. And then we can go ahead and slide these like that. And what we're going to focus on right now is just getting the holes right here lined up with the holes on our side rails. We'll connect that using the bolts, washer and nuts that come with the kit and then once we do that then we're going to start adjusting. We're going to go bolt in washer first from the top. From the top and then make sure it goes through that plastic bracket like that. Put that nut on the bottom then we can go ahead and tighten those up. Now that all that's done, what we can do now is start unrolling it and see how good we did and see if we have to make any adjustments. So, far so good, but it is a little tight. But we do want you guys to put this out in the sun, let it stretch out a little bit so it might be a little tight. But this is a little too tight. So, we're going to go make some adjustments. So, on this plastic piece right here, it's going to say tight with an arrow pointing that way.So, if we took this wheel and rotate it that way, it's going to get more tight. But we don't need that. So, I'm going to do it the opposite way. And we do want to make sure that they're going to be relatively even. If anything, perfectly even on both sides. I know it's hard but you can count threads or just eye it out. But we are going to get it perfect. Now it's time to test through. Let's see if our adjustments are exactly what we needed. I have faith. I think we are going to get it.And moment of truth. Last thing I want to do is just make sure that your tailgate closes. And that's actually a really, really good seal and there's no resistance to it at all. Well, everyone that just about does it for our look at the Access Toolbox Edition Soft Roll-up Tonneau Cover on our 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2,500.

I've been looking for years for a cover to fit my bed with the toolbox and all I ever heard was they don't make them. I love this cover and thanks etrailer. I was a little confused with the instructions provide, so it was a combination between the video and instructions that helped me complete the task. I really recommend if your in the market for this kind of tonneau cover.

by:

The cover itself is ok, soft vinyl. However the mechanism that attaches to the frame is a very bad design. The adjustment screw continues to fall out and the cover comes up, by the tool box. I fixed the design by add two bolts and lock nuts and it seems to be fine.

by:

Love it! Love to see a hard top that fit with my box. Until then this will work just fine

by:

Owning a 5th Wheel and wanting a tool box and a cover was hard to imagine. But the Access Cover was a life saver when it came to unhitching. It cover the bed and prying eyes can not see in. I highly recommend this product.

by:

We travel a lot with our RV and frequently keep stuff in the back of the truck. I wanted something to hide it all. This cover is excellent. It looks fantastic and is easy to use (roll/unroll). Installation was okay but two sets of hands or clamps make it a lot easier. The instructions are just okay but it all worked out. The cover was a smidge short so I had to double-up on the rubber seal at the tailgate. No biggie. Also, no need to have a separate cover for my 5th wheel hitch. Very happy!

by:

2015 GMC 8'Body.Great to have a cover compatible with a toolbox. I can keep items secure and out of sight. Looks great on the truck.

by:

We love this tonneau cover! This is our third purchase of the same cover. We upgraded to a 2024 Dodge Ram and unfortunately needed the new fit. This is easy to install and wears extremely well. Our old tonneau cover purchased 3 years ago looks literally brand new. I am grateful that this company makes an affordable solution to covering the bed of your pickup and allowing for a toolbox as well.

by:

Cover fit well and is made of durable materials. Installation instructions were good and trailer how to videos a plus

by:

The cover works fine, however the attachment devices that it came with it do not. They continue to come loose and fall off. Finally had to drill the cover into the sides of the truck and the truck box. Now it stays in place.

by:

Great cover, easy installation, fantastic price

by:

Installed on a 2013 F150 with 6-1/2' foot bed. I had already installed a toolbox across the bed rails and then decided to add an Access cover since I knew I could get this tool box compatible version. I had an Access cover on a previous truck and knew I wanted the same brand again.

Plan on buying additional bulb weather stripping as the cap between the tool box and the front of the bed is wide depending on tool box width. My gap was wider than what came with the installation kit. You have to put the toolbox exactly where it needs to meet the bed cover header.

Installation was easy for the cover as the struggle was getting the toolbox weather stripping installed. I put the bulb seal in the kit on the front of the toolbox and then added my larger bulb weather stripping onto the front of the truck bed so that both mated up once the toolbox was put back into place per the instructions. Any local parts store should carry the seal material.

I do like how you need to open the tailgate to operate the latching system. If you lock your tailgate, it cannot be accessed. My previous Access cover had a push button you could use to unlatch the cover with the tailgate closed. Not great if you want to keep other out of your truck bed.

by:

The cover fits well over the truck bed and snug against the tool box. RAM 3500 with 8' bed.

by:

Cover has lived up to expectations. Easy to install. I integrated it with a 5th wheel tool box which conveniently allows separate access to either. Protects my hitch from the elements when I am not towing. Easily rolls up and down. When rolled up, it does not block my rear view when I hitch my 5th wheel. Stays securely fastens when closed. No water intrusion, even in a car wash. Every couple of months I apply a good coating of a quality vinyl UV protectant.

by:

Excellent product. Simple installation instructions. Still
Looks brand new. As always, it shipped promptly. Great service as usual.

by:

Overall, Happy with this product. Relatively easy to install, however, I recommend doing it with a partner to make it easier. Fits great with my Weather Guard toolbox and gives the truck a great look overall! Super easy to open and close and provides way more security than having the bed open for all to see.

by:

Really happy with the tonneau cover for my 2016 F150. It was a little more difficult to install than I expected, but we finally got on. It works as advertised.

by:

Love the way this cover looks on my truck . I see why this setup is popular with 5th wheel truck owners. I can hide the hitch from some weather elements and cover up what’s stored in the bed. My next upgrade is a lockable tailgate latch. Only 1-recommendation to the manufacturer is maybe real photos in the instructions to help installation. Other that I’m very pleased and would recommend to everyone.

by:

Love the cover, worked very well with the toolbox I got,
Not the same as my hard cover but still very handy

by:

This cover is a perfect match for a tool box! It comes with everything needed to seal the front of the box and then seals for around the cover. It rolls up and the clips hold it in place as it should. The adjustment knobs make sure you will get the best fit and coverage.

by:

Works great with my tool box

by:

Directions were somewhat to be desired but after a couple of U-tube videos we got it

by:

Excellent product

by:

I really wish that I had done this earlier! Excellent fit, finish, design, installation was a dream and impeccable customer service!

by:

Tonneau cover is great, although the spacer between the cover and tool box needs better design. The 3 inch filler panel has clamp points on both sides which don't work very well, always sits lower than the cover, hard to attach and allows a lot of water to access the bed. If the filler panel had attachment points that slides into the cover panel for looks, stability, water control and installment it would work much better.

by:

This is an amazing Tonneau cover and works perfectly with our truck bed toolbox. We have had no complaints. It looks great and is very functional and easy to use.

  • Recommended Tonneau Cover for 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 with 6-1/2 Foot Bed and Tool Box
I may have a solution for you, but unfortunately there is not a tonneau cover that's going to work with a toolbox that small; the only option available to fit a tool box is the Access Toolbox Edition Soft, Roll-Up Tonneau Cover # A62329 which fits with 19"-21" wide tool boxes that extend over the sides of the truck bed. This particular cover would not be compatible with a 12" wide tool box. With that said, if you wanted to go with a tonneau cover like the BAK Revolver X2 # BAK39121 and...

  • Tonneau Cover Recommendation for a 2014 Chevy Silverado with Toolbox
I wish we carried what you are looking for, but we don't carry hinges for tonneau covers that are custom made. We do carry some tonneaus that are custom made for trucks that have toolboxes. For example, if you have a 2014 Silverado with a 6-1/2 foot bed and a 19-20 inch wide toolbox you would want the tonneau part # A62329 as it is designed for use with a toolbox. If you had a long bed truck instead with the same size toolbox you would want part # A62339.
