Installation

1. Drape the chain over both tires of your dual-tire set-up, making sure that the center chain is between the tires and that the side chain with the lever is on the outside. Drive forward about 1/4 of a tire revolution. (You can also lay the chain out and then drive onto it.)

2. Reach around behind the tires and fasten the ends of the chain together.

3. Move back to the front of the tires and fasten the ends of the chain together using the built-in lever.

4. Drive forward a bit and tighten the chain as needed by moving the hook to the next link.

You can use rubber or chain adjusters (sold separately) to increase the tension on the chains for a tighter fit.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chains, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

This is the exact product I ordered

by:

Chains worked great after you experiment on the best way to install... First time for me to install dually chains... After they are installed they worked great!

by:

Customer service was great. Tire chains seem solid. Won't need to use them for a while so can't say for sure.

Application: 2017 Ram 3500 DRW. Road test: Hwy 50 from California near the Nevada line (into South Lake Tahoe); chains (or snow tires) required.

The chains worked great! It was snowing pretty good. I installed the chains on the side of the road prior to the "chains required" checkpoint. I had my headlamp prepared which was the key to an efficient install in low-light conditions. Naturally, manipulating the chains during install was twice the fun! But with some good gloves, a headlamp, and 3 slight repositions of the truck, they came on and were readjusted in about 30 min. I thought that was pretty good time considering the conditions and being safe around the other vehicle traffic.

The truck handled great. I capped my speeds at 30MPH, which did not happen that much given the few straightaways in that particular stretch of road. After a few miles the chains seemed to really settle in and my ride was pretty smooth. No excessive noise.

I found an awesome parking lot to remove the chains in South Lake Tahoe before getting into Nevada. (I probably could have kept them on through the city and on downgrade into Nevada, but it all worked out.) The lighting helped a LOT. However, it still took me about 25 min to remove the chains because I had trouble unlocking the inside tire on one side. Be ready to crawl and spend some time underneath your truck. The clearance underneath the Ram 3500 was plenty to get in there and sift through the chain to find the lever lock.

Sorry - no pictures. As soon as I had them off, it dawned on me I never took any pictures. If chains are required next time I make that run, I will try to remember to snap a few. Overall - they're good chains. Durable, and provided great traction if you want to run double chains on your dually. Remember good gloves and a headlamp, and make it an adventure not a chore.

2012 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

The product that I ordered was back ordered from the Manufacturer. etrailer.com customer service staff kept me informed about the situation and made sure that I received my items prior to the departure on my trip. Customer Service is the most important thing a company can offer on items that are available from several vendors and I have to say the team at etrailer.com is outstanding.

2011 Ford F-350, 450, and 550 Cab and Chassis

Super fast delivery of a well packaged heavy set of dual wheel tire chains. Very pleased, I will do business with etrailer again.

2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty

I just got them two days ago, I have not put them on, used them or has it snowed. Although I love etrailers easy to use web site, prices and service I can never understand why they try to rush the review. I cannot imagine it is helpful to anyone for me to say they are bright and shiny and possible would work well if I had a chance to use them.

Easy to put on. Transformed my truck from not being able to drive at all in the snow to unstoppable!

by:

Had to reorder my rear chains and etrailer made it right and was quick about it, 3 days to my front door.
Thanks,
Robert

by:

Fast service and follow up on my order. Will buy from them again.

by:

These arrived on time and look fairly rugged. I look forward to not getting stuck in the snow and mud.

by:

Have not needed them

by:

Great Service. Thank you. I will buy a lot more from you.

  • Dually Tire Chain Recommendation for Tire Size 245/75-17
We have dually tire chain setups for your tire size of 245/75-17 like the Titan Twist Link set part # TC4231 which will work really well, but since cable setups are more designed for emergency use they aren't typically used on heavier duty vehicles like duallys. They don't typically last very long so I wouldn't recommend that route for yours with a cab over camper. The twist link setup I mentioned is a great choice if you want a smoother ride quality and the V-bars part # TC4831 are great...

  • Tire Chain Use on Tandem Axle Horse Trailer with Electric Brakes
If your tandem axle horse trailer has brakes on both axles then ideally you will want to install compatible tire chains on both axles, all four tires. This will do more to avoid the trailer trying to get ahead of you (!) on a slippery road surface. Even if you do not need the chains to slow the trailer they will still help to avoid lateral movement of the trailer on the road. Laws vary by state concerning use of tire chains on trailers. California and Oregon, for example, require chains...

  • Snow Chains For 2015 Ram 3500 With Dual 265/70/17 Tires
We absolutely have snow tire chains for your 2015 Ram 3500 with dual 265/70/17 tires. The best option is from Titan and are the following part number: - Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains for Dual Tires # TC4231 These chains will fit your Ram's dual tires and offer the best traction even in deeper snow because they are a twist-link pattern. Twisted links offer more overall grip in the snow than other patterns, and are also much smoother to drive on than square links. The only other thing...

  • Tire Chains for Dually 245/75-17 Tires on a 2011 Ford Super Duty
We have several options for dually tires, size 245/75-17: # TC4831CAM # TC4231CAM # TC4831 # TC4231 For any of these chains I also recommend rubber adjusters, # TCMA2. Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual for specific information on the use of tire chains. I have included a link to our help article on tire chains for you.

  • Recommended Snow Chains for 255/85-16 Sized Dually Tires with 3/4 Inch Gap Inbetween
Your 255/85-16 sized tires are each about 10 inches wide. For 20 inches of tire plus roughly 3/4 of an inch in between I recommend a chain that will cover at a least a 21 inch tire. Both the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains for Dual Tires # TC4231 and # TC4231CAM (with cams) are designed for tires up to 22 inches. So these will both be a great fit. The difference of the two are going to be the cam fasteners of the # TC4231CAM chains. These will make the chains easier to install and tighten....

  • Recommended Tire Chains for 255/85R16 Dually Tires on a 2001 Ford F-350
If you plan on driving mostly snow-covered highways with chains on the 255/85R16 dually tires for your 2001 Ford F-350 then I recommend the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains for Dual Tires # TC4231 because they have a twist link style that will be a little more comfortable on the harder surface. The only other option is the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains # TC4831 which have V-Bar Links that are a little better for off-road purposes and/or ice as they provide some additional grip with the studded...
