These chains are the perfect solution for cars with limited wheel-well clearance because they are designed to ride solely on your vehicle's tire tread. Chains automatically tighten and align as you drive so you don't have to recheck tension.

Features:

  • Provides excellent traction in snow and ice
    • Square links dig in and provide good grip - small size makes for a less bumpy ride
    • Diamond pattern offers constant traction and a smoother ride than ladder patterns
    • Traction plates bust ice apart
  • Made for passenger vehicles with limited wheel-well clearance
    • Meets SAE Class S standards
    • Creates zero interference behind the wheel
  • Automatically tightens around tire as you drive - no need to stop and tension
    • Securely attaches to wheel lug nut for installation
    • Maintains grip on tire thanks to strong materials and geometric design
  • Removes quickly with external release system
    • Sturdy arms can be folded for compact storage
  • Offers protection for wheel rims - chains sit on tire treads only, leaving wheels untouched
  • Includes nylon storage bag and 3 lug nut adapters (17 mm, 19 mm, and 21-22 mm)

Specs:

  • Application: 14" - 18" tires (for exact sizes, see below)
  • Lug nut/bolt size: 19 mm and 21 to 22 mm
  • Quantity: 2 tire chains
  • Link thickness: 10 mm
  • Internal clearance required: 0 mm
  • 5-Year warranty

Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if they might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.

If you're looking for a way to get traction in the snow without scratching your rims, these K-Summit chains are your best option. The chain only sits on the tire tread and is fastened to one of the lug nuts on your wheel with an easy-to-use fixing key. There are no attachments behind the wheel like typical tire chains, which ensures that there is no interference with any suspension or braking components on the inside of the wheel well. You won't have to stop and readjust these chains either - they self-tension, self-center, and conform to the tire perfectly as you drive, providing a precise fit even on worn tires. These chains are ideal for use in light snow and ice.

Class S Designation

SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on passenger vehicles with restricted wheel-well clearance. Most newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large aftermarket tires - will require Class S chains. If you're unsure about the class of your vehicle, consult your vehicle's owner's manual.

SAE Class S Clearance Diagram

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you wont be stuck out in the cold later with snow cables that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. Even these low-profile chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Tire Chains

Because these chains are customizable, the first fitting could take a little time but after that, it's simple. The included instructions will let you know if you need to adjust the chains based on your tire size.

Remove lug cover if present

1. To begin installation, you'll need access to your wheel's lug nuts. If you have a plate covering your lug nuts, pop it off using either the included Allen key or a flathead screwdriver.

Determine size of lug nuts

2. Determine which lug nut adapter you'll need to fit over the nut on your wheel. Attach that adapter to the included fixing key. The most commonly used adapters are included.

Lay chains over tire thread

3. Fit the chain over your wheel, getting it as far onto the tire as possible.

Tighten lug nut adapter

4. Using the fixing key, thread the included bolt into the adapter. The other end of the fixing key will attach to the K-Summit base, which includes the ratcheting mechanism that tensions the chains as you drive.

The adapter secures over your lug nut to hold the K-Summit base in place on your wheel. You might need to use the included spacer to get the chains to sit properly.

Quick Tips:

  • Lengthen the life of snow chains by drying them after each use before you store them.
  • Check out our installation kit with safety lights and a kneeling pad (PO34FRK) to make things a little easier when you're installing chains out in the snow.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

  • Low Clearance Snow Chain Recommendation for 2019 Chevy Bolt EV
I have a few really great low clearance tire chains that fit the tire size 215/50-17 you have on your 2019 Chevy Bolt EV. The ultimate in terms of clearance is the Konig K-Summits part # TH02230K33 as no portion of the chain drapes over the inside sidewall of the tire. This basically eliminates any possible clearance issues so it's the safest in that regard and our most often solution for vehicles that have very limited clearances for chains. The easiest to install set that also is Class...

  • Recommended Snow Chains for 2017 VW Golf Alltrack with 225/55-17 Tires
The 225/55-17 tires are bigger than the manufacturer normally puts on the vehicle. If you have these tires, you will have even more limited clearances so I recommend only using the Konig Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - K-Summit - Size K44 # TH02230K44. These chains require no inner clearance as they only ride on tread portion of the tire. I've linked a video of this to assist. The chains should be installed on the front tires of your 4Motion system....

  • Recommended Tire Chains For 235/35 ZR19 91Y And 265/30R19 93Y Tires
For your 235/35 ZR 19 91Y tires I recommend the Konig Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - K-Summit - Size K33 # TH02230K33 and for your 265/30R19 93Y tires I recommend the Konig Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - K-Summit - Size K23 # TH02230K23. Because these chains are designed to ride solely on your vehicle's tire tread, these chains are the perfect solution for cars with limited wheel-well clearance, like your 2011...

  • What Tire Chains do You Recommend for My 2021 Hyundai Kona?
I have great tire chain options for you. I went ahead and did some additional research on your 2021 Hyundai Kona and confirmed that the owner's manual states that they recommend using snow tires instead of tire chains. However, this is common for car manufacturers to state because they do this to avoid any liability for potential damage to the struts/components on your vehicle. With that being said, we do have models of tire chains that provide superior traction as well as safety to avoid...

However, judging by our available tire chains that are confirmed to fit your standard 205/55-17 tires, the safest chains we carry for them are the Konig Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - K-Summit - Size K33 # TH02230K33. • Snow Chain Recommendation for Tire Size 215/50-17
For the tire size of 215/50-17 that you have on your 2017 Chevy Bolt EV the best low clearance chain option we have is the Konig K-Summit set part # TH02230K33. The reason these are the best option is because the chains do not go over the inner shoulder of the tire at all which is the area that would cause interference issues if there was going to be one. We have to recommend you stick with the recommendation of your vehicle manufacturer but sometimes you can show them options like this...
