Installation

1. Drape the chain over both tires of your dual-tire set-up, making sure that the center chain is between the tires and that the side chain with the lever is on the outside. Drive forward about 1/4 of a tire revolution. (You can also lay the chain out and then drive onto it.)

2. Reach around behind the tires and fasten the ends of the chain together.

3. Move back to the front of the tires and fasten the ends of the chain together using the built-in lever.

4. Drive forward a bit and tighten the chain as needed by moving the hook to the next link.

You can use rubber or chain adjusters (sold separately) to increase the tension on the chains for a tighter fit.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chains, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

Video Transcript for Titan Chain Dual Snow Tire Chains Review

Hi everyone, it's Evangeline, and today, we'll be taking a look at our Titan Chain Twist Link Snow Tire Chains for your dual tires right here at etrailer. Now, your dual tires have limited options when it comes to getting that extra traction on the road, but even with the limited options, we definitely have options for your different situations. If you need a lot of traction on a lot of ice, you might be considering the tire chains that have the V-bars or the cleats. Now, if you're expecting a lot of snow or a lot of mud, that's where these twist links come in handy. So we'll talk about that as well as mentioning other options for your dual tires for your different situations. So these are heavy-duty chains in a ladder pattern, so for some of your other tire chains, you can get them as a diamond pattern, you don't really have that ability though for dual tires.

So that ladder pattern is gonna be your traditional type of tire chains, you are gonna hear a babump babump on the road, but you'll also be feeling that grip on the road in the snow and the ice. Now, these tire chains are made of a low carbon steel, which means that they're extra durable, extra sturdy. Some other tire chains use an alloy like a manganese nickel alloy, those are more focused on corrosion resistance and handling the salt and the ice, this can do that too, but again, its focus is durability for those rocks and for the ice, which means if you do wanna use this for multiple seasons, please just double check your chains before putting them on your tire to make sure they hadn't corroded or anything like that. You can also get a version of these twist link chains with cam, so it's gonna look pretty much the same, they're just gonna have extra cam tensioners. I personally recommend getting the cam version, because it's gonna be faster and easier to tension things down, but also, because you'll have the included cam tensioner tool, which will make it easier for you to install that middle connection.

Speaking of that middle connection, that's what makes these chains are designed for dual tires, different from those chains that are designed for single tires. You're gonna have to connect it in the front, in the back, as well as in the middle. That can be tricky, but I have a special trick for that. So what I do is I put the link that needs to be connected right over your cam tensioner and use this to feed it through your tires. So using the tool, just pull the chains through, and then you can connect the other hook.

Now, these tensioners are not included with your tire chain, these are gonna be an add-on accessory, that way you have constant tension all throughout. Even if your chains are shifting around, this is shifting with it. Your chains will arrive in a canvas bag like this, and since we do send your chains for your axle, you will get two of these canvas bags. Some other chains arrive in hard shell or soft shell cases, which I personally prefer, but this is still a great way to store it inside your truck for whenever you need it. So quick summary is if you are looking for a tire chain that has a smoother ride than square links of a similar design, or if you're expecting a lot of deep snow and mud, but you still want that heavy-duty traction that can handle off-road situations or rocks or ice, then this is gonna be a great option for you, this was the ladder style chain that is designed with these twist links for your dual tires..

Customer service was great. Tire chains seem solid. Won't need to use them for a while so can't say for sure.

These chains are amazing! I use them on a 12 passenger van and they install very quickly and easily. I have driven on unplowed roads with 2' snow drifts and have hauled trailers through muddy fields without getting stuck. I highly recommend them.

I know iron. 17 yrs trucking, mostly doubles across Montana into the Dakotas. Chained up a lot.
Pictures show what you get with this set I bought for my 2005 Tahoe. Heavy gauge chains w/triple cam locks w/long wrench for excellent leverage to get cams tight. Tight cams mean links don't "slap" pavement which causes increased wear. They arrived today so not used yet. However, for my application they will last a lot longer than those cheaper; light gauge, "disposable" chains, use once and throw away after you pay a tow bill.

by:

The first trip I used them on, one of the chains snapped and shredded the inside of my fender as well as some damage to the outside. I was willing to give benefit of a doubt that it was a one time fluke. Called and tried to return and/or exchange. etrailer.com wanted me to pay for the shipping back even though it was within the 30days of purchase. The shipping would of cost me more than half of what I paid for them. Even after a couple of customer care calls and emails, etrailer.com still refused to pay the shipping to exchange them.

Chains looked good. After watching installation video it was a breeze to put on. They fit perfect. I’m only testing them right now so when I need to use them I’ll be more comfortable. I drove 1:2 mile down & back and the chains hadn’t moved.

I bought a pair of twist link (TC3235) for my front tires and V-Bars (TC3835) for my rear tires, so writing a combined review. The V-Bars have more traction but my front end doesn't have as much clearance so I opted for the twist links in the front.  I've now used these offroad 4 times, and once briefly onroad during a major ice storm that left all of our roads with skating rink type ice.
First - both chains fit 37" x 12.5 R18 tires perfectly.  This is despite the fitment not being listed on etrailer.com and the etrailer CS rep telling me they wouldn't fit.  The Titan catalogue / website does list 37x12.5R18.
Second - two pair of chains *just* fit in a milwaukee packout "Compact Tool Box" (model No: 48-22-8422).  There isn't a wasted inch of space.  After using them, I dry them in my garage, then douse them in WD-40 before putting them back in the packout.  These chains are made from an alloy that prioritizes strength over corrosion resistance, so surface rust appears pretty quickly on them.  Be warned that lifting all four chains together is heavy.
Third - They give amazing offroad traction.  The only way you're getting stuck is by getting high-centered.  You will not run out of traction if you have weight on your tires.  However, it is easy to get high centered when using these in the snow if you aren't careful.  Don't spin your tires, or your axles and frame rails will be holding the vehicle while your wheels hang in the air.
Fourth - I would only recommend using these onroad in very limited circumstances. During an ice storm I had to get a neighbor to the hospital. We live on an extremely steep hill and the roads had 1" of clear ice on them.  With the chains it was like the ice wasn't there.  But the whole truck vibrated a lot.  And it probably prematurely wore the chains.  If I drove faster than ~15-20 mph it really rattled the truck.  (offroad in the snow I'll drive 40+ mph no problem with these.  but driving on hard surfaces causes a lot of vibration).

Needed these chains for a snowboarding trio this December. Installed them in my yard to make sure they fit, and figure out which link worked best. Now that i know what link to use, next time it should only take sbout 10 min to put them on. I really like how they stay away from my wheels so should not scrstch them. My yard was very soft from recent rain and you can see how well the chains dig into the mud. Should be really good on snow/ice.

by:

I really appreciate the great service and really fast delivery. My go to for my trailer parts and chains.

by:

These chains fit perfectly on my 2022 F-150 with LT265/70R18's. Easy to mount, with adequate clearance.

by:

Very tight to get on but I found I do not require the tensioner. Very good product.

by:

My Titan Chain Low Profile Tire Chains arrived on time and fit great. They were exactly as described. Luckily I did not have to use them at all last winter, but I did a test run and they were relatively easy to install and tighten. Having these in the trunk of my van allow me to stay in compliance with state "chains required" regulations and provides me with peace of mind. I would highly recommend this product. Customer service has been great.

by:

Delivery was excellent; chains and tensioners arrived one day ahead of the promised date. They appear very well made, the price was competitive and shipping was free. erailer communicated very well all through the process, from ordering to notification of shipping to follow-up after receipt. I did a dry-run installation and it went exactly as the online video showed. Looking forward to trying them out in snow! I would recommend etrailer to anyone in need of snow chains.

by:

I used these on a 2wd open diff F150 with a camper. The traction difference is amazing! I never lost traction! If you’re on a pass that warns “chains or AWD”, don’t go without chains or off road tires. I puttered along at 30 in the unplowed lane watching a clown in an AWD BMW slide everywhere in the plowed slush, holding up traffic.
Anyway, the chains themselves. I’ve used diamond pattern chains with a cable on the inside and fancy nonsense on the outside before. The cable always collects snow, and the multiple connections on the outside is confusing. These ladder chains were easy and simple to put on and take off. I used tensioner bungees also. You will get a bumpy ride, but it smooths out as you speed up. Anyone that claims ladder chains don’t have lateral grip hasn’t used them and doesn’t understand the physics of why chains help.
Great for going up a pass periodically, but not something I’d use daily.

by:

I got to use them one time. The chain links that are horizontal a few of them popped off

by:

Hard to put on and would not stay centered on the tire. Ended up taking them off as they were coming loose and knocking the wheel well

by:

I got these snow chains for my 2022 Ram 1500 4x4 with 275/55-20 tires and they fit perfectly. Hopefully I'll never use them, but they add an additional layer of confidence when traveling in deep snow or needing them to rescue a stuck vehicle in the snow. I like the cam tensioners also keep them tight. These are a lightweight snow chain and not intended for continuous use.

by:

Great service. Very fast delivery. Also bought a trailer hitch recently also had excellent service.

by:

Delivered fast, popped these on to get gamiliare with them and actyally tested them out on a road that was snow packed solid ice, my truck would not spin... i tried to make it, but the chains would not allow it in my situation. Yes chains ride rough.. real rough to be honest, but its better than not making it to your destination. They are heavy ( a big pro) feel like excellent quality and would recommend them to anyone who lives in a state that allows them.

by:

The Titan snow tire chains that I purchased from etrailer.com fit perfectly on my 2020 Silverado 2500 HD 4x4.

by:

As usual with E-trailer correct items were easy to order, quickly shipped, tracking was provided and items dry fit perfectly. Thanks to all your staff.

by:

Works great on front wheel drive car, just make sure if you hear them hitting something stop and check on them.

by:

Heading west and knew I would need tire chains for the trip. They offered what I needed and were sent out quickly.

by:

These are the heavy duty chains that can’t be found at most tire or ag supply stores. Had them in 3 days. I did add a cross link as I thought the gap was a bit far where they hook together but it wasn’t totally necessary.

by:

The titan chains arrived earlier than expected, by a day! I inspected them and installed them with no issues. Thank you very much!

For a dually set for the rear axle the Glacier Twist Links part # TC4219 would be a great option confirmed to fit your tire size of 225/75R16. You should first check with your owner's manual for any snow chain requirements or restrictions.

  • Tire Chains for Mercedes Sprinter with Dually Tire Size 215/85R16
A lot of people have great luck with just putting a set of chains on the outside wheels of a dually setup like your Mercedes Sprinter but for the best traction having a set that covers both tires is the way to go. The Titan set part # TC4219 fits your tire size of 215/85R16 and is a dually setup. It also comes with cam tensioners so rubber tensioners beyond that would not be needed. The part # TC4819 instead has a v-bar chain link which is a sharper setup that does better in icy conditions.

Very a really high quality tire chain that fits the tire size of 225/75-16 that's a dually setup we have the Pewag Snow Tire Chain part # PWE4219SC which are made from a stronger metal than other chains and are reversible so they will last a very long time. • Recommended Tire Chains for P225/75R16 Tires on a Motorhome
You can definitely install tire chains on your motorhome unless otherwise stated in your owners manual, you may also want to check for any clearance notations. I would highly recommend the Thule Self Tensioning Snow Chains # TH04115245, because of the super easy mounting and removal process. I have personally installed many of types of chains and love how easy these are, and how little snow I have to get on myself while installing them. For these chains you will just need to check to...
