2. Drive forward about 1/4 of a tire revolution.

3. Fasten the ends of the chain together.

5. Drive forward a bit and tighten the chain as needed.

You can use rubber or chain adjusters (sold separately) to increase the tension on the chains for a tighter fit.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

Video Transcript for Titan Chain Tire Chains with Cams - 2024 Dodge Durango

How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Titan Chains tire chains for our 2024 Dodge Durango. When you add tire chains to your vehicle, what you're trying to accomplish is increase your traction in the less than ideal road conditions like ice, snow, mud. Something like these Twisted Link tire chains in the ladder pattern is gonna help you with a lot of those situations. So let's take a closer look at what makes it work for our Durango. So as you can see, your links here are twisted, and what that twist does, it gives you a kind of a contact point with the road to help you bite down into ice, snow, mud to keep you on course. That ladder pattern is gonna go directly across and link around the front.

One of the cool things with this is the fact that you're gonna have cams on. So these cams are gonna have an included tool that are gonna allow you to get that additional tension on your chain, and that means it's gonna keep your cross-chains on the tread, right where you need it to be. Now, what's not included is this rubber adjuster. This guy right here is an extra part that I usually suggest adding just to keep everything under tension and where you want it to go on your tire chains. As you can see behind the wheel, our chain links are pretty big, but if you're traveling at safe speeds for tire chains, you should be perfectly fine as far as clearing everything behind the wheel well.

I can run my hand all the way around and I don't see any points of contact or feel any points of contact with the tire chains. The tire size we're working with today is 265/50R20. As far as what's recommended from Dodge in the manual are the Konig XB-16 tire chains. However, we're going to just fit 'em with everything that we have that fits the wheel and tire just to give you an idea of how well it fits. As far as how your chains are gonna arrive to you, they're gonna come in this bag here that's kind of like a cloth bag with a plastic bag on the inside.

However, I would definitely suggest putting this together in a cold weather kit that's gonna have gloves as well as a mat because you have to lay on the ground for the installation. Outside of laying on the ground, it's a pretty straightforward deal and I can show you how to get it done. We're gonna start our installation by laying our chains out on the floor, just making sure that we don't have any twists in our links at all. I'm gonna put my cams farther away from the vehicle and make sure my hooks are pointing up right here at these points and we'll just drape it over the tire. So I'm gonna grab this.

I'm gonna be cautious of my wheels and my paint because, you know, this could damage those things and I'm just gonna work it over the top of the tire. Now, one thing that I always try to do when I put on tire chains, especially these thicker ones, I just give myself a little bit extra slack in the back by lifting it above the tread a little bit. Now I'm gonna go behind and make our connection. I have a hook right here. I'm just gonna insert it and now we're connected. So from here, we're gonna go back to the front of the wheel and make our front connection. Now we're gonna pull our chain forward to get our links a little bit more on our tread and we're gonna make our assisted tensioning connection. So still making sure everything is nice and straight, nothing's twisted. I'm gonna go right here and we're gonna pull back and have our connection. And actually, I think I could take a couple extra links on here to get a little bit more of the chain. Yeah, so, and with that, you're gonna have a nice amount of still slack in the wheel and this is where our cams come into play. Now we're gonna engage our cams to get that additional tension on our chains. We got one more here. And you can see that we still have slack. And this is where I usually recommend having a rubber adjuster to get that additional slack out of the chain to keep it exactly where you want it on top of your treads and help minimize damage to your wheels. When you install your rubber adjusters, a good idea to do it like you do your lug nuts, just go from end to end to get that additional tension and try to keep that even pressure across the chains. After you get this installed, you're gonna do the same thing on the other side, roll forward a little bit and make any necessary adjustments. These types of tire chains are gonna be for your more mid- to heavy-duty type of terrains. Having those twisted links are gonna really help bite into ice and mud. However, they are thicker, so you definitely want to make sure you're moving at the pace appropriate for tire chains. Again, this is Ed with etrailer.com taking a look at the Titan Chains ladder pattern Twisted Link tire chains for your 2024 Dodge Durango. Have a great day.
