Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if they might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.

These Titan Chain diamond-pattern chains are great winter weather chains. If you live in an area where you're likely to get periodic snow and ice, these chains are perfect because they're durable and easy to mount. And they're lightweight and compact, so they store in your vehicle nicely too.

These chains are among the easiest and fastest to install because they have built-in tensioners that you can just pull taut to adjust the fit. These tensioners allow the chains to fit your tires, no matter the profile or wear pattern. And because the tensioners are built-in, you never have to worry about losing them like you might with other chains on the market.

Class S Designation

SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on passenger vehicles with restricted wheel-well clearance. Most newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large aftermarket tires - will require Class S chains. If you're unsure about the class of your vehicle, consult your vehicle's user manual.

SAE Class S Clearance Diagram

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the sidewall of the wheel well.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Tire Chains

Installing these chains is incredibly simple.

Lay chains on the ground to get all the tangles out

1. Lay out the chains on the ground to make sure there are no twists or kinks.

Slide chains behind the tire

2. Spread the chain around the back of the tire.

Make connections behind the tire

3. Connect the ends of the cable, which will sit behind the tire.

Attach green hook to yellow side chains

4. Around front, connect the 2 ends of the yellow side chain using the green hook at the top of the tire.

Feed tensioner through clips

5. At the bottom of the tire, feed the silver tensioning chain through the red channel bracket and pull it taut. Then run the tensioner through as many red clips along the side chain as you can, leaving room to still be able to stretch the hook across the tire.

Recheck tension

6. Attach the hook to the side chain directly across from the last clip you ran the tensioner through. The hook should face away from your tire. Pull your vehicle forward 2-3 vehicle lengths and recheck the tension.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

  • Self-Tensioning Snow Chains for a 2012 Toyota Prius v with 205/60-16 Size Tires
I do have some tire chain options that will fit your 205/60-16 size tires on your 2012 Toyota Prius v but since Thule recently got out of the tire chain business the CS-10 chains are no longer available. Konig actually manufactured the chains for Thule and they have some options that are compatible with your tire size. If you like the self-tensioning feature of the Thule chains then I recommend the Konig part # TH00023095. These chains feature the same type of self-tensioner as well as...

  • Recommended Tire Chains For 2012 Hyundai Elantra With 215/45R17 Tires
For your 2012 Hyundai Elantra the Konig Standard Snow Tire Chains # TH01221090 are a confirmed fit and will be a nice chain I recommend for your 215/45r17 tires. These chains are made of high-quality manganese nickel alloy steel construction and they have integrated tensioners to keep them tight. The color-coded connections help a great deal with installation and there is a kneeling mat, gloves and mounting instructions included in the storage container. I think you will be happy with...

  • Tire Chain Recommendation to Fit Tire Size 205/75-15 on RV

  • Recommended Snow Chains or Cables for 2010 Toyota Prius
For a 2010 Toyota Prius, the owners manual specifies to use class s tire chains or cables. If she has 15 inch wheels with the factory 195/65-15 tires, then I recommend the Thule Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - K-Summit - Size K23 # TH02230K23 for the best traction and zero internal clearance so they are sure to work well. If ease of installation along with traction is the priority, then I recommend the Konig Self-Tensioning, Low-Pro Snow Tire Chains...

For the tire size of 205/75R14 that Titan chains part # TC1540 would be your best option. These are priced great, easy to install, fit your tire size, and will provide you with great traction. I attached an install video for these chains for you to check out as well.

  • Recommended Snow Tire Chains For 2016 Toyota Corolla
The chain laws vary from state to state, so you may want to check with which states you are driving through. The snow chains come in pairs, so you will have two chains for your drive axle. Since your vehicle is front wheel drive, you will only need chains on your front tires. I looked your owners manual up online and found there are recommendations for each size tire. Class S will meet these requirements. The Titan Cable Chains, ladder pattern will meet all you legal criteria and are...

  • Stock Tire Sizes for 2013 Toyota Prius v
The 2013 Toyota Prius V can come with either of two stock tire sizes, 205/60-16 or 215/50-17. The larger size tire 215/50-17 is 8-1/2-inches wide. A 235 size tire is 9-1/4-inches wide and this wide a tire could potentially cause interference issues with brake lines and other vehicle components within the wheel well. I reviewed an online version of the owner's manual for the car and it has no information about using larger tires than the two sizes noted above so I would not attempt to use...

  • Tire Chain Recommendation for Tire Size 225/65-14 of Honda Pioneer
Hey Kathleen, looks like last year you bought the Titan tire chains part # TC2323. The Titan chains are a solid option overall and if you wanted basically the same thing for your current tire size of 225/65R14 you'd want the part # TC1540. Since this is a smaller tire size than most vehicles have this would be the best option we offer. They are easier to install, provide great traction, and happened to be priced great too. How did you like the Titan chains?

  • Recommended Snow Tire Chains for a 2011 Hyundai Elantra Limited with 17 Inch Wheels
The most common 17-inch tires for your 2011 Hyundai Elantra are 215/45-17. The Titan snow tire chains # TC1540 you referenced will work but offer no rim protection or quick release. If you are willing to spend a little more and enjoy the ease of use, I recommend the Konig snow tire chains # TH01221090 the chains automatically tighten and align as your drive. These chains will have solid grip on snow and ice and have anti-scratch nylon bumpers to protect your rims. As a side note, always...

They're also good quality without breaking the bank. You should check your vehicle owners manual for snow chain recommendations. These cables will help provide traction in light snow and the low profile will offer a smooth ride. The Sentra's owner's manual requires that Class S chains be used, and the # TC1034 cables comply with that requirement. They are class s compatible which means they are designed for vehicle's with limited wheel well clearance. Instead for you I would recommend the # TC1540 for a similarly priced set that will fit and install easier, will last longer, and will provide better traction.
