Came in a day early. Installed it in less than 1 hour. Definitely makes the heavy Steel body super duty tailgate much better by a slow no hands smooth drop.

I had this on my old truck. Ilike it so much that I install it on my truck that I just got.When my grandchildren are around the tailgate I feel good knowing that the tailgate will not slam down hurting them
As installed the lowering assist is at a very steep angle. The tailgate is very heavy.
I question if it will last a couple of years. Why not have one on each side of the tailgate

Purchased this for my 2020 Ford SuperDuty pickup tailgate. While the body skin on this vehicle is aluminum, and in my advancing years the tailgate seems to have gotten heavier as time has gone on. Watched the product and installation video on etrailer’s website prior to purchasing and figured it should help, and it does. Maybe doesn’t slow the decent when lowering as much as shown in the video but it is a definite improvement. Installation was straight forward and well explained in the included instructions. The kit did not however include the referred to bottle of thread locker, but I had one in the cabinet in my workspace. Over I am very pleased with both the product and the always satisfactory customer service from etrailer who will continue to be my go to for truck and trailer related accessories and upgrade items.

It took literally 10 minutes to install because Ram had a better idea. it’s a quality product and it has worked flawlessly. Much more affordable than the similar Ram product. I would recommend this product and best of all unlike the one I installed on a F150 it’s within the truck body out of sight. Thanks eTrailer.

As usual, parts showed up as expected, when expected with the right amount of updates from etrailer. I have done quite a few updates on vehicles over the years and not many of them go as others say. However, I was able to install this one in 5 minutes with no issues on my 2019 Ram 1500. The preload on the shock is perfect, lowers at the right speed and get plenty of assist raising the tailgate. Only thing I recommend is a 90 degree trim tool to pull the plastic push pins out. Very satisfied with this purchase, just dont know why these aren't standard equipment from OEMs.

This was the second tailgate assist I have installed on a Dodge Ram. The first on an 07. The only problem I had was getting the tabs out. Other wise it was simple to install. The feature about this model that I liked is that you don’t see it.
Does not have the capability I hoped for, the tailgate still drops too fast with too much force.
Was easy to install but needs to be designed stronger.
