Today we're going to review Part Number PAL1350C, this is the Pop and Lock Chrome Replacement Tailgate Handle with the keyed alike cylinder. This is a custom fit part, it is designed to fit the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles starting in 2007, the new body style, also the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles starting in 2008, also the new body style. This is a keyed locking tailgate handle which will discourage theft of your cargo and your tailgate. When using this, it will create secure storage for your valuables when it's used with like a tonneau cover or a truck bed cap on your truck. The lock cylinder uses the bolt, B-O-L-T, codeable technology, this is so it can be keyed to match your OEM truck key. To code it, you just stick the OEM key in there, turn it till it doesn't turn anymore, remove it and it will be set to your OEM truck key to unlock it. This uses a tough armored steel lock that resists tampering. This is customized for your vehicle. The ABS plastic locking handle replaces your OEM tailgate handle.
It's a nice stylish chrome finish to give your truck a high end look. Does use a raised lock for quick key access. It's a very simple installation, there's no drilling or welding necessary. It requires only basic tools. It comes with a nice set of detailed instructions on how to install it and code it. It includes the tailgate handle, lock mechanism, all the necessary hardware for installation.
One last note, now this does not work with the factory backup cameras. That should do it for the review of Part Number PAL1350C, this is the Pop and Lock Chrome Replacement Tailgate Handle with the keyed alike cylinder.

Installed on my 2015 Tacoma TRD Off-Road. Replaces original fine using the original gasket. Has a few less pins to hold the gasket in place, but its sufficient. Handle is a bit smaller than the original due to the lock, so you have a little less leverage. This install (per instructions) requires you reverse the "wire" on the drivers side so that it does not rub against the locking mechanism, and in this specified alignment, it cannot use the middle support clamp and it rubs on the internal support structure of the tailgate. As a result, it's hard to open the tailgate. As a modification, I left the rod/wire in its original alignment, but placed a small bend in it about two inches or so away from the connection point to the lock (see pictures). This makes the latch work much better as the wire/rod can still be strapped into the middle support!
Installed the latch in less than 10 minutes. It looks great on my 2015 Tacoma. Very happy with my purchase. The best feature is that I can use my truck key and not carry around one extra key just for the lock.

It appears to be made of good quality materials installed easy works well. I guess the only downfall of it is that I wish that the ignition key to the actual truck would also work to unlock the tailgate. I don't want to have to have two keys, but that's OK. It still works as advertised.

Everything works great, giving me a locking bed for my truck. The only thing preventing me from giving a five start rating is the feel of the lock when keyed to lock. My key must be turned al the way to the stop before the lock locks. I am worried that it will fail to lock in the future.
The locking handle has performed very well over the last year. It still looks great but I keep my truck in a garage a lot of the time. It was easy to install and has increased the utility of my truck bed and tonneau cover because it locks now.
So far, so good. It has only been installed for a short period of time, but the fact that it can use my ignition key, and allows for the backup camera really makes this feel almost like OEM.
Easy to install, matches the original - I would have bought a more rugged metal replacement latch if I had known you had one available.
I just bought a TopperEZLift Weekender for my 2005 Toyota short bed I wanted to be able to lock up the back tail gate. My son found this locking handle on line for me. My original Pop & Lock faded a bit after 4 years, so I replaced it with a brand new one. I had added a bed cover and needed to secure the tailgate.
The original worked without issue for 4 years.
I found that reviewing videos of the installation process helped. The installation was easy and the product met my expectations of quality construct and fit.

Really easy install by following step-by-step video, took about 20 minutes. Keying the lock to match my ignition key was simple,and so far it's working great. I read a few reviews that said the tailgate has to be in locked position in order to remove key, I did not find that to be the case, my key comes out regardless of whether it's locked or unlocked. Great product, highly recommend.
2014 Tacoma. This was a piece of cake to install. The biggest problem was finding the proper torx wrench for the tailgate cover remove - fortunately they were not very tight. The factory backup camera re-installed into new handle just fine after removing knockout plug. The two metal arms installed easily. The re-keying to fit my ignition was painless. I'm impressed. Handle is not as sturdy feeling as original OEM handle but is adequate. Not only is the handle smaller (which is expected) but the plastic feels thinner to me. Overall I'm very happy with this lock so far.

The latch I purchased is not close to factory latch quality. If you don’t have the key in the exact position, the latch won’t open. I wouldn’t purchase another one.

It was very difficult to install correctly. The lock mechanism had to be bent to make work and also I could not tighten the lower bolt because it would not allow the lock mechanism to work properly. It took way too long to install. Also I thought the quality was cheap. I would purchase this produce again.
Lock was easy to install and easy to key with vehicle key. Etrailer customer service is great.
I am very pleased with my tailgate handle. It was simple to install and works perfectly. I like the ideal of being able to key it to my existing key. The Chrome handle looks very good on the truck. It is plastic so I hope it holds up. It seems to be very sturdy. I received the handle in a reasonable time and I am very satisfied with it. I would definitly recommend this handle.
