Very good product.
The baseplate on our 2020 Jeep needed grinding to remove excess weld.
Also the small plate welded to the baseplate needed grinding to accommodate the long screw.
I have written Roadmaster. I believe at some point Roadmaster made changes to the baseplate .
The quality of Roadmaster products is good, and this is the only issue after 15 years of buying from Roadmaster.

Very nice improvement for anyone who has the tow bar without the crossbar.
The only installation issue I had was attaching the bracket to the receivers. Leave the receivers attached to the vehicle and attaching the brackets from the front will be easier. The rest of the installation is straightforward.
I really like that the cover height is adjustable.

It works great now. I had a problem with it slipping down after I set the height. I drilled a shallow hole in each side of the mounting shafts for the set screws to set in. It now retains the height I need.

The product was in great shape but the shipping container was far from adequate. It was extremely beat up & worn. I returned the product because it was redundant and bulky. I had also purchased the Tow Defender Screen. The poor shipping container made that difficult, but Josh was very helpful with guiding me through the return process. You have an excellent staff. The thumb screws are a joke. It would be much better to have holes drilled in the uprights and use a pin for height adjustment.

That's not a bad idea, Darin. I'll pitch it to Roadmaster to see what they say. We have a good relationship with them and they are typically open to our feedback. Did those thumb screws break or are they just not getting tight enough?

  • What is Needed to Go From Crossbar to Direct Connect Roadmaster Tow Bar
    Hey Ronald, as far as the connection is concerned you really just need the different tow bar. Due to height differences you would also possibly need a high-low adapter but I would need you to tell me what that height difference is to pick that out. Keep in mind it's okay to be off by 3 inches up and down and still be fine. Your current rock guard wouldn't work though so you'd need a new one with the # RM82DQ since the attachment style is different. Which tow bar are you looking at?
