Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Triangle 235/75R17.5 radial tire in a load range J. And it's mounted on the 17.5 black modular design steel trailer wheel with an offset and an 8 on 6.5 inch bolt pattern. Now, this tire and wheel assembly is designed for use on heavy-duty trailers. The wheel is a heavy-duty wheel.

It's sturdy steel construction, and it is the eight hole modular design. You can see the large eight holes that go around the hole outside of the wheel there. It offers excellent corrosion resistance and it has a black powder coat finish over an Eco primer on the front and even on the back of the wheel. Now, this wheel is a hub-piloted wheel. This has a hub pilot diameter of 4.76 inches.

And when I say hub-piloted wheel, what that means is when you put this on your trailer, it's gonna center exactly on the diameter of this hub. So that's why if you look at the lug holes on this wheel, they're non-chamfered. There's no bevel to 'em, and that's because it will require the use of 5/8 inch by 18 size flange nuts for installation. Those we do sell separately on our website. So basically, when you put this on your trailer, it'll center on this pilot hole and not on the lugs.

Now, this wheel does offer a half inch positive offset, which means that the wheel's gonna move towards the trailer frame. And what the offset is is the mounting surface of the wheel right here. When it's right at the center of the wheel, that's a zero. So if this moves a half inch positive, that means it's gonna be a half inch towards the front of the wheel, which in turn will move the entire wheel towards the trailer frame. Now, the diameter on the wheel, 17.5 inches.

The width on just the wheel is 6 3/4 inches wide. We mentioned the bolt pattern on this wheel is an 8 on 6.5 inch bolt pattern. And if you want to measure that bolt pattern on a wheel that's an even number of lugs, it's pretty easy because the lug holes are directly across from each other. So you just pick any hole, measure from the center of that hole to the center of the hole right across from it. So on this wheel, it would measure 6.5 inches. So it's an eight lug, 6.5 inch bolt pattern. The wheel does have a weight capacity of 6,005 pounds. Now, the tire that's mounted on this wheel is a premium multi-use steer all-position radial tire. It is constructed with all steel belts to enhance durability and extend the tread life. Do you notice if we turn it here, it has very wide shoulders to promote even wear and better traction, and it offers an enhanced casing package to help improve toughness and retreadability. The tire size, which is stamped on the sidewall, right here, you can see 235/75R17.5. The R means that it is a radial tire. Section width 9.3 inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated is 31.4 inches. And this tire is a load range J, which means it's a 18-ply rated tire. So it has a maximum load capacity of 6,005 pounds at 125 PSI. And the last thing I wanted to mention, this tire does have a speed rating stamped on it, and they designate it with a letter designation on the sidewall. And where you'll find that is right after the tire size, you'll see two numbers for the load index and then the letter J stamped there. J will mean this has a 62 mile per hour speed rating.
