Unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the automotive-grade, computer-generated tread on these Kenda Loadstar KR17 radials has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. The Kenda Loadstar KR17 tread also has sipes. Siping is a process in which thin grooves (or sipes) are cut into the rubber of the tire. The grooves channel water away from the tread so that the tire makes better contact with the road. Both of these features greatly improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions. The tread on this tire also has a 5-rib, variable pitch tread block design. Because the blocks of tread are wider at the edges and skinnier in the center, this design will reduce the overall road noise you experience while towing.

Determining the Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Today, we're gonna take a look at this Kenda Loadstar ST215/65R17 Radial Trailer Tire in a Load Range C, and it's mounted on the Sendel 17 inch matte black aluminum wheel with the dual bolt patterns. Now, the tire, the tire is a Kenda Loadstar special trailer radial tire. This will couple the strength of a bias tire with the durability and stability of a radial tire. It is an ST tire, which stands for special trailer tire. It is created specifically for trailers, it's not intended for use on other vehicles.
They do use double steel belts, full nylon plies, which combine for superior function and long life. The tread on it you can see is a computer generated tread design. And they use premium rubber compound materials, gives you superior traction in wet or dry conditions. Now, if you noticed on the valve stem, right over here, if you look at the cap, it has a red valve cap on the valve stem. And that red cap indicates that this assembly contains tire balancing beads on the inside that will continuously and automatically readjust the balance of your tires.
The tire size, which will be stamped on the sidewall, right here, you'll see ST for special trailer, 215/65R17, R means that it is a radial tire. Section width, 8 1/2 inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated is 28 inches. This tire is a Load Range C, means it's a six-ply rated tire, has a maximum load of 1,874 pounds at 50 psi. And this tire does have a speed rating, and it is also stamped on the sidewall.
And where you'll find it is right after the tire size, you'll see two numbers for the load index, and then the letter M. Speed rating M will mean that this has an 81 mile per hour speed rating. Now, the wheel that this is mounted on, it is a 17 inch by nine inch aluminum wheel. And it does offer a dual bolt pattern. If I spin this around, you'll be able to see the 10 holes back there.
So it will work on either a 5 on 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern or a five on five inch bolt pattern. The wheel is an aluminum wheel. It is durable, lightweight, and rustproof. The design, it's a Sendel Stealth Series S37 Open Spoke Design, and you can see it has an all matte black finish. The front and even the back of the wheel are clear coated to protect against scuffs and scratches. And what you'll notice is it does include this matte black center cap right here that'll cover the lug holes that you're not using. The cover cap can be removed with this included removal tool. Has a bent edge on the one end, you just put it in there, pop off that cap, and then you'll be able to access the lugs. Also, a nice feature is the center section right here of the cap. That also could be removed, so you don't have to take off the whole cover. You can just pop off that center if you need to access any easy lube axles. Few specs on the wheel itself. The diameter is 17 inches. The width on just the wheel is nine inches wide. We mentioned the bolt patterns is a 5 on 4 1/2 inch or five on five inch. And this wheel does have an offset. And what offset is, that's measured where this mounting surface is. So if it's at the center line of the wheel, that's zero or the starting point. If it moves towards the front, if that mounting surface moves slightly towards the front of the wheel, that's positive offset. So this wheel will have a positive 10 millimeter offset, which means it's gonna move the tire and wheel a little bit closer to your trailer. It does use a wheel lug size of 1/2 inch by 20. And the hub diameter, which is this large hole right here in the center, it's gonna measure 78.1 millimeters. The load capacity on the wheel itself is 2,200 pounds. And this whole tire and wheel assembly is a high-quality tire and wheel assembly that does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation specifications. But that should do it for a look at the Kenda Loadstar ST215/65R17 Radial Trailer Tire in a Load Range C, mounted on this Sendel 17 inch matte black aluminum wheel.
