1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Goodyear Endurance ST235/85R16 radial trailer tire in a low range E and it's mounted on this 16-inch silver modular steel trailer wheel with the eight on six and a half inch bolt pattern. Now, this tire wheel assembly is ideal for RVs, stock trailers, utility trailers, and even campers. The wheel itself is a steel wheel, has the modular design. When we say modular design, that's the one that has the round holes all the way around the wheel. It's very sturdy and corrosion resistant.
They do use a three-step finishing process on the wheel, which includes first phosphate zinc bath then an eco primer, and then they put a silver powder coat on the front of the wheel. A few diameter or a few dimensions on the wheel itself. Diameter of it is 16 inches, width on just the wheel is six inches wide. Now, the bolt pattern on this wheel is an eight on six and a half inch bolt pattern, and if you wanna measure that on a wheel, that's an even number of lugs. It's pretty easy because the lug holes are directly across from each other.
So all you have to do is pick one hole, let's say this one, measure from the center of this hole directly across to the center of the hole right across from it. So on this one, it'll measure six and a half inches. So that's gonna tell you it's an eight lug six and a half inch bolt pattern. Does use a wheel lug size of either a half inch by 20 or nine 16s by 18, and the weight capacity on just the wheel is 4,080 pounds. Now, if you notice, this does not include a center cap.
You do wanna center cap, we do sell those separately on our website. You do wanna make sure to get one that has the same diameter as this pilot hole 'cause when you install it, it'll go through this hole. Diameter on this pilot hole is 4.88 inches. (coughs) Now, the tire itself is a Goodyear Endurance radial tire. It's constructed with double steel belts, triple polyester cords for a nice long life, and the Goodyear trailer tire is made in the USA.
It is great for highway use. They do use a nylon tread firming belt overlay to help prevent tread separation. It is optimized tread depth and they do a decoupling groove design, which will help the tire remain cool when you're towing heavy loads. This Goodyear tire does use door wall technology, helps resist sidewall cuts and punctures, and they do even on the sidewall, have a scuff guard to help provide additional sidewall protection. Now, this is a special trailer tire design, couples the strength of a bias tire with the durability and stability of a radial tire. It is created specifically for trailers, it's not intended for use on other vehicles. And this whole tire and wheel assembly does meet the DOT specifications. Now, the tire size, (coughs) which will be stamped on the sidewall. Right here, you can see ST for Special Trailer, 235/85R16. The R means that it is a radial tire. Section width, 9.3 inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated is 31.7 inches and this tire is a load range E, which means it's a 10-ply rated tire, has a maximum load capacity of 3,640 pounds at 80 PSI. And the last thing I do wanna mention is they do a speed rating on the tire and they label it on the sidewall, but it is in a letter designation (coughs) and where you'll find that is right down here where the tire size is by the wheel. Right after it, you'll see two numbers for the load index and then the letter N. Speed rating N will mean this is an 87-mile per hour speed rate at tire. But that's gonna do it for a look at the Goodyear Endurance ST235/85R16 radial trailer tire in a load range E, mounted on this 16-inch silver modular steel trailer wheel.

Great Spare replacement!
These are the same tires I have on my TT. The stock spare was a china bomb. I feel much better knowing If I am a long distance from home, I can depend on my spare instead of getting to the next exit. Tire Blowouts can cause a lot of damage just not worth the risk to me.

I am one that always reads the lowest rated reviews on a company whenever I order anything online - I guess I think the lowest reviews give a truer report of what I could expect - upon reading the negative reviews from past customers I was reluctant to order but had. Everything with the wheels looked good. However, I did have to take them and have them balanced. I would have liked it if balancing was offered as an option when purchasing the wheels.
I realize that many people do not balance their trailer tires. But I like my trailers to ride smooth at highway speeds. Single axle trailers are affected more than multiple axle trailers by out of balance wheels.
I am very pleased with this purchase. Time will tell how these tires will perform, but I am very optimistic.
