Features to know about

Stop Rust Before It Starts: Dacromet Coating Defends Against Corrosion

Salt, water, and road grime can eat away at suspension parts fast. This leaf spring has a dacromet finish with a 700-hour salt spray rating, giving it serious rust resistance compared to standard steel or zinc coatings. Whether you’re towing on salt-treated winter roads or backing into the water, the coating keeps the steel protected so the spring stays strong and lasts longer.

Smoother, More Stable Ride: 4-Leaf Double-Eye Design Handles the Load

Rough roads and heavy cargo can beat up a trailer suspension. The 4-leaf double-eye setup absorbs bumps and road shock so your trailer tracks steady and tows smoothly. Each spring supports 1,750 lbs, pairing up for 3,500-lb axle capacity. The 27" eye-to-eye length and 1-3/4" width match standard suspension geometry, restoring a balanced ride when old springs start to sag.

Reliable Fit for Easy Replacement: Built to Match Standard Hardware

When it’s time to swap out worn springs, you don’t want to fight with measurements. This spring mounts to your existing hangers using standard suspension bolts and shackle straps. It includes nylon bushings with 9/16" eye diameters (11/16" without), so the fit is straightforward and solid. Just replace both springs together to keep axle alignment right where it should be.

Built for the Long Haul: Strong Steel Core with Low-Maintenance Protection

The sturdy steel construction gives this spring the backbone to handle years of use, while the dacromet coating cuts down on the constant cleaning and repainting that rusted springs often need. It’s a smart upgrade for anyone tired of flaky, corroded parts and wasted time on maintenance—install it once and get back to hauling without worrying about rust taking over.

Video Transcript for Review of etrailer Trailer Leaf Springs - Double Eye Springs - e36FV

Hello, neighbor, Steven here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at our etrailer rust resistant four-leaf double eye springs rated for 3,500 pound trailer axles. Now folks, these upgrade your trailer suspension or replace your current suspension to save you time and money on maintenance. They are gonna be excellent for both boat trailers or any trailer that's regularly exposed to salt treated roads, so it resists rust and corrosion with our DACROMET finish that has a salt spray rating of an impressive 700 hours. Now folks, these mount directly to your trailer existing hangers with suspension hardware that's all sold separately. And these are constructed of a nice sturdy steel construction.

They already have the nylon bushings pressed in place. Now you're gonna get one leaf spring just like you see here. We recommend you change out both of 'em, so both of them meaning left and right side of your trailer. That way you have proper axle alignment and sometimes brand to brand, there could be some slight variances in the length overall, even though they all say the measurement and possibly the spring material. So it's a good idea to replace 'em in pairs.

Now this spring by itself is rated at a capacity of 1,750 pounds, two of them giving you that axle capacity of the 3,500 pounds. Now center of eye to center of eye on this spring is 27 inches. The spring width is 1 3/4 inches wide. And the eye diameter with the bush in here is a 9/16 and without the bush in here, the diameter of the metal itself will be 11/16. Now the leaf thicknesses are 3/8 inch thick.

There are four leafs, so you can count 'em one two three four. And they've got the nice clamp here and metal heavy duty to hold it together. And then you've got the spots here to set onto your spring seats and everything on top of your axle. And then of course your U bolt and plate that again are sold separately. If you need some new ones, pick 'em up here at etrailer.com, but those will go on the top.

Well folks, that's gonna wrap it up for a quick look today at the etrailer rust resistant DACROMET coated four leaf double eye spring 27 inches long eye to eye. I'm Steven. Thanks for watching.

Corrosion resistant will still corrode after only one year after exposure to salt water. And this is with freshwater wash down after each boat launch. But still holding up better than plain steel. I hope to get 3 to four years use before replacing.

Items fit perfectly. Shipping time was great and communication was very good and helpful.

So far, so good. These leaf springs are for a 3,500lb, single-axle camper rated at 4,000lbs (Wolf Pup 16FQ). I like the Dacromet coating and I hope that it will provide years of corrosion-free operation. The springs were packaged well, the brass bushings pushed in easily enough with a bigass C-clamp, and the installs on both sides went exactly as planned, no surprises.

I also got the Dexter upgraded shackle and wet-bolt kit; those shackles are massive at a full 1/2" thickness. And, of course, the bolts were sized for the fatter width. JUST REMEMBER, do not grease the top wet bolt on the back hanger because it's open to the air; there's no bushing there.

I have NOT driven the camper on any trip yet, and I cringe as I see my unit about 4" higher than it was. I had one broken spring on the passenger side and the driver side was nearly flat. I upgraded my springs from 1,750lbs to 2,500lbs with this purchase, and the camper seems to sit very well now, albeit higher.

All-in-all, I am pleased with this purchase, and I am pleased with the observable quality of these springs.

It’s been a year now and the springs are holding up very well. My boat goes in the saltwater twice a week. The spring rate seems to be the same they’re not flattening out at all yet. As far as the rust resistant, it’s hard to get anything except stainless that won’t rust at some point. These are holding up well but are starting to show some rust spot here and there. Again it’s a saltwater boat trailer and used quite often. I would buy these again when needed. If I have to guess I’d say I will change them out in 3 years or so given the wear they have on them at this point.

I’m disappointed in Etrailer. I have ordered hundreds maybe thousands of dollars of product from them. I made a mistake on this one as I measured and it looked like this product would fit. Etrailer wants to charge me $[XX] to ship the items back. More than 50% of the value of the product. They did not offer store credit, replacement item or anything to assist me. Just make sure it’s new and pay $[XX] to ship back. Very disappointed.

The springs arrived quickly and were well packed (each one wrapped in several layers of tissue paper, and individually boxed). The size was a very good match to the springs I needed to replace, and came with nylon bushings pre-installed. The finish looks good, but only time will tell if they resist rust as hoped.
After pulling out the first old spring, I decided to install new heavy duty shackles, bronze bushings, and wet bolts (rather than just getting new nuts for the existing set). The Dexter tandem axle kit was also quickly delivered.

etrailer really came thru for me,originally the wrong springs were ordered.but etrailer was really quick at getting everything squared away. Gabby was great at getting the correct springs to me and even quicker than expected. These dacromet springs look great and come in a double box wrapped in paper to keep them nice.I really like that.Overall very happy

We have put on 6000 miles since installing

Excellent quality product.Extremely pleased.

by:

Spring has a nice looking coating, however it isn’t on the springs between layers. Looks like it was assembled and then coated.you have to question how corrosion resistant this will really be.

by:

good quality springs disappointed that the waterproofing was not applied before springs were assembled the

These new springs, along with a host of other new parts gave our vintage trailer the lift and stability we needed. Price was decent, shipping was quick. We are very happy with the new suspension.

  • What is the Spacing Between the Front Hanger and Rear Hanger for 27" Leaf Spring Single Axle Trailer
Hello Jim, Great question! Because there is not a real standard to trailer suspension I do not have a direct answer for the spacing for the hangers to install the # e36FV. It all depends on what size shackle you are using, if the spring is over or under the axle. Most likely your measurement is going to fall between 25 1/4" to 26 1/2". You want to make sure your shackle strap is at a 40-50 degree angle. I attached a picture of what single axle suspension should look like, I know it's weird...
