Long hauls and rough roads can wear down a trailer’s suspension fast. This Dexter 7-leaf slipper spring with a hook end flexes to soak up bumps and jolts, keeping your trailer steady and level. Each of the seven leaves works together to absorb road shock and reduce bounce, cutting down on wear and tear while giving you a smoother ride. With a spring capacity of 4,000 lbs and an axle capacity of 8,000 lbs, it’s built to handle heavy loads without sagging.
A weak spring can cause uneven towing and extra stress on the frame. This one is made from sturdy steel, 2" wide with a 3/8" leaf thickness, so it holds up under constant use. The 1-5/16" eye gives you a secure mounting point for the front hanger, and the hook-style slipper end slides smoothly into the rear hanger or equalizer for solid support. It’s a tough, no-nonsense setup that stands up to mileage and heavy cargo.
Getting the right alignment matters for even tire wear and steady tracking. This spring measures 26-5/8" overall (26-7/8" from center of eye to end when unloaded), matching the geometry needed for 8,000-lb axle setups. The precision length and shape help keep your suspension in line so your trailer runs level and true over uneven ground.
Whether you’re replacing worn parts or building from scratch, this spring fits easily into common setups. It pairs with the 5/8" diameter bushing #DX77XR and the Dexter hanger kit #HAP-105-00 for a proper fit. Use existing welded hangers if you’re swapping old springs, or add a hanger kit for new builds. For best results, always replace both springs on the same axle to keep balance and alignment consistent.
To ensure proper axle alignment and suspension performance, leaf springs should always be replaced in pairs.

Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at this Dexter 26 and five eighths inch long Seven Leaf Slipper Spring with the Hook End for an 8,000 pound trailer axle. Now this slipper leaf spring will act as part of your trailer suspension system, provides an attachment point for your trailer's axle, uses multiple leaves, which allow flexibility to absorb road shock, allows for a nice smooth ride, reduces wear and tear on your trailer, and it'll ensure level ride on bumpy and uneven surfaces. Now it does require pre-mounted hangers or aftermarket hanger kit for installation. Those items we do sell separately on our website.
The eye of the spring right here, is what will attach to the hanger that's mounted on your trailer frame, and the slipper end right here on this end slides into your hanger or your equalizer. This is a nice sturdy steel construction. Now on this one, the bushing that goes in the spring out here is not included. We do sell those separately on our website. The eye diameter without the bushing is one and five sixteenths of an inch.
A few specs on this, the quantity is for one leaf spring. Spring capacity is 4,000 pounds. So it fits on the axles of 8,000 pound size axles. Number of leaves against seven leaves. We want to give you a few measurements on this.
The length of the springs, a slipper spring is always going to be measured from the center of the spring eye to the end of the spring. So on this one, if we measure the center to the very end, it's going to be right at 26 and five eighths inches, total length. The axle location, in other words, your axle is going to fit here right in the middle of the spring. So the measurement from the center of the spring eye to the middle of the spring, where the axle will be located, is going to be right at 11 and a half inches. And the spring width is right at two inches.
But that should do it for the review on this Dexter 26 and five eighths inch long, Seven Leaf Slipper Spring with the Hook End for 8,000 pound trailer axles..

I reached out to the manufacturer and I had the bushing added to the site. It is part # DX77XR and can also be found in related parts.
