When you’re carrying serious weight, a weak spring can flatten out fast. This Dexter slipper spring uses five thick steel leaves to support a 5,000-lb rating per spring—enough for a 10,000-lb axle setup. The solid build holds its arch under load and keeps the trailer level, cutting down on sway and uneven tire wear over time.
Every bump adds stress to your frame and cargo. At 30-1/2" long, this slipper spring flexes just right to take that shock before it reaches the trailer. The design lets the rear end slide into the hanger or equalizer, so the suspension moves freely over potholes and ruts. That flex makes for a steadier pull and less shake on uneven ground.
Metal-on-metal contact can chew up bolts and make noise. This spring solves that with a rubber bushing pressed into its 3/4" eye. It cushions movement at the hanger, reducing friction and helping the suspension stay tight and quiet mile after mile.
The 7/16"-thick steel leaves and 2-1/2" width give this spring serious backbone for heavy use. Instead of bending or twisting under load, it keeps shape through years of towing. Replacing springs in pairs keeps alignment true and ensures both sides carry weight evenly, extending the life of your suspension setup.
Use the wiring diagram below to properly connect your Dexter DX Series Electric Over Hydraulic Trailer Brake Actuator to your trailer’s hydraulic brake system and electrical components. It shows the wiring paths between the actuator, breakaway switch, battery, and brake controller, with color-coded wires and clearly labeled connection points for safe and efficient operation.

Hello everybody. This is Jeff for the etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Dexter, 30-1/2 inch long, 5-leaf slipper spring with the flat end for 10,000 lbs trailer axles. Now this slipper leaf spring will act as part of your trailer suspension system. The spring will provide attachment point for your trailer's axle. And this one uses multiple leaves to allow flexibility to absorb road shock.
This one has a total of 5 leaves. It does allow for a nice smooth ride, reduces wear and tear on your trailer. And it ensures a nice level ride on bumpy and uneven surfaces. Now to install this spring, it does require pre mounted hangers or aftermarket hanger kit for installation. Those items we do sell separately on our website, basically the eye of the spring right here on this set, attaches to the hanger mounted on your trailer frame, and this end, this is slipper spring end this'll slide into a hanger or equalizer.
This is a sturdy steel construction. This one has the rubber bushes with the steel sleeve is included and the eye diameter of that steel sleeve is 3/4 of an inch. Few specs on this it's for quantity of 1 leaf spring. The spring capacity is 5,000 lbs. So the axle this will fit on is a 10,000 lbs size axle.
Okay, I will give you few measurements on this, the two critical measurements. First, one's going to be the length of the spring and that's measured from the center of the spring eye. All the way to the end of the set so for total length, take measure from the center all the way there. It's about 30-1/2 inches for the total length. The axle location.
And that measurement is going to be again, your axle will be located right here in the middle of the spring. So the measurement for that is from the center of the eye to the center of the leaf spring. So initially if we measure, is going to be right at 13-1/2 inches. And the spring with on this, is 2-1/2 inches but that should do it for the review on this Dexter, 30-1/2 inches long, 5-leaf slipper spring with the flat end for 10,000 lbs trailer axles..
