When you need a full-function light that covers all your bases, this square Peterson tail light delivers. At 6-3/4" tall by 6-1/4" wide, it handles stop, tail, turn, backup, and license plate illumination in one clean package. The built-in rear reflex reflector means you don’t have to add a separate one for compliance. With (1) 1157 and (1) 1156 bulb behind the red and clear lenses, it gives you dependable brightness for safe towing and clear signaling every time you hit the brakes or shift into reverse.
No messy harnesses or complicated hookups here—just three wires that do it all. The red wire ties into the brake light and turn signal circuit, the green wire connects to your parking light circuit, and the black wire powers the reverse light. It grounds through the mounting stud for a clean setup. That’s all it takes to get full functionality without extra adapters or guesswork.
This light is made to handle regular use without falling apart. The molded housing keeps everything stable, and the screw-on lens makes bulb changes quick and easy. The incandescent bulbs can be replaced when needed, keeping maintenance simple. Once mounted with its three 1/4" diameter studs on a 2" center pattern, it stays put and keeps shining through dust, rain, and road spray.
If you’re swapping out an old unit, this one’s ready to bolt right up. It matches OEM specs for several truck models and cross-references directly with Grote #53702 and #5312, GM #15613944 and #15565732, and Navistar #166282C91. It’s also DOT compliant for peace of mind that you’re running a proper light on the road. With a 12V DC system rating and just 2.2 amps draw at 12.8V, it balances performance with efficiency while meeting all safety standards.

Michael: Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at the Peterson combination truck tail light. This is an OEM replacement for your Peterbilt Mack White and Jeep trucks. It is a combination light, so it is going to have five different functions when properly mounted. You're going to have your stoplight, your tail light, your turn signal light, and your reverse light.
On the bottom here, you can see we've got a nice, clear lens. This will help eliminate our license plate as well. So that's all five. It does have the built-in rear reflector so that you don't need a separate reflector. It's all combined here in the one.
This does have a durable, molded housing with screw-on lenses. So it's going to be easy to get in there and change out our bulbs, if we need to. We do have a red lens and a clear lens.We have two incandescent bulbs inside. Our stop and tail is a 1157 bulb. Our turn signal is an 1156 bulb.
Those can be easily replaced just by simply removing the screws, popping out the lenses. This is compatible with your 12 volt DC systems. It's only going to draw about 2.2 amps on your 12 volt system. On the back, you can see we do have the triangular pattern stud mount that is going to include three of these quarter inch diameter studs. The distance between these studs is right about two inches center to center for all three of them.
Our overall dimensions for our lights, we're looking at right about six and three quarters of an inch tall by about. Let me get this lined up over here. right about six, maybe just shy of six, five and seven eighths of an inch wide. Our thickness not counting our studs. We're looking at right about three inches, maybe three and an eighth of an inch thick. It does have the three wire design it's going to include our power leads. This is grounded through the mounting studs. This light is department of transportation, compliant or DOT compliant. It does come with a one-year limited warranty from Peterson. So those of you who do need a little bit more reassurance that this is going to work with your truck, it is going to be an exact replacement for the part numbers that you see on the screen there. So if you see those in your owner's manual or on the light itself, you can trust that this is going to be the part that you need. That's going to complete our look at the Peterson combination truck light. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.
Ratings & Reviews
Peterson has always made good lights. I like the push-in for the wires. Over the last dozen years I have replaced my lights 3 times and always use Peterson. etrailer is quick and efficient with getting your order out. I've also added guards to my lights to see if they can keep from being damaged.
It is what I needed.
Looks and fits perfectly, thanks!
Exactly what I ordered within a reasonable time. No issues here. Thanks
Hi Ashley E.
You probably don’t remember, but you ask me to do a review and send a photo of my trailer light purchase on your invoice #108377365 Of 9/4/019.
Find a photo attached. This is a ‘Rat Rod’ pickup and not quite done, but I finally did get the lights mounted and wired. They worked perfectly, and I am very satisfied.
I will send you another (and a much better) photo when a get the bed for the Rat Rod built.
So some times, I’m not so good at backing up but this one I hit with the snow blower.
I like this unit because the wires just plug in the back and I’m good to go. I recommend this light.
This one use for the “passenger” side (with out license plate.
My order was not delivered to me.
They work fine. Install was breeze.
While this light is fully functional and will work, the description could use some additional information for those that are looking for a fully "surface mount" light. The hole that the wires go through is not flush so you will either need to have it in a cutout or you will need to delete the plastic around the hole so it will allow for a surface mount. Also the screw holes on the light are not flat with the light and will prohibit a flush mount to the surface of your vehicle. If you review my photos you will see that have fully screwed in these lights however they sit off the surface just a little bit on the edges because of the light design. I'm hoping they are water tight enough but I will see after a season of use.
Both lights, driver and passenger side, along with cabling were easily installed. Perfect solution for my utility trailer. Thank you.
It's an exact match to the one that I am replacing on the RV camper. Made out of quality material. Very reasonably priced.
Just rewired a cargo trailer I bought that the lights were always going out. Found 20 butt connectors the guy used no wonder they worked off & on. Now with two new tail lights & new wiring with a straight connection everything works like it should. Everything I have bought from etrailer has been good quality & fast shipping.
Thanks
Going to completely rewire our 5X8 trailer with the original light design. Etrailer had exactly what I needed.
The taillights were for an older pop up camper purchase that needed some TLC and bringing it back to a legal road use, I figured would be a good thing. You had what I needed and still working well. Thanks
Great
