Features to know about

Brighter and More Stylish Lighting: LED ID Bar with Smoke Lens

If you want your trailer to stand out without screaming for attention, this light bar nails the look. The smoke lens paired with a black polycarbonate housing gives it a clean, modern finish that blends right in with dark trim or paint. Underneath that sleek lens are red and white LEDs that shine bright when you’re braking, turning, cruising, or backing up. It’s not just about looks — at 12V it draws only 0.265 amps for stop and turn, 0.24 amps for tail, and 0.30 amps for reverse, so you get serious light output without stressing your wiring.

Keeping Things Legal and Safe: DOT-Compliant ID Light Bar

Visibility and compliance go hand in hand. This bar meets the ID light requirement for trailers over 80" wide and is fully DOT compliant, so you can tow confidently knowing other drivers can see you from a distance. With a full set of red and white LEDs, it covers turn, brake, tail, and backup functions all in one compact unit — no need to clutter your trailer with multiple lights.

Simple Wiring Setup: 4-Wire Pigtail Connection

No complicated harnesses here. The 4-wire pigtail makes hardwiring easy: red for stop, white for ground, black for tail, and yellow for back-up. Once connected, it handles every lighting function cleanly through one bar. The wiring layout keeps things organized and straightforward whether you’re upgrading or doing a fresh install.

Clean Installation Every Time: Surface-Mount Design

Mounting this light bar is simple thanks to the surface-mount setup. It measures 20-1/2" long x 1" wide x 3/4" thick with mounting holes spaced 19-5/8" apart. That slim profile sits flush against the surface, giving a factory-finished look without extra brackets or bulky hardware. Just mount it where you need better visibility — no cutting into your trailer body.

Built to Last: Durable LED Construction

This isn’t a light you’ll have to babysit. The sealed LEDs are made for long-term use and come with a lifetime warranty on the diodes. The polycarbonate housing resists impact and weather wear, keeping moisture out and performance up even after years on the road or in rough conditions. It’s one less thing to worry about every time you hook up the trailer.

Video Transcript for Review of Optronics Trailer Lights - Smoke Lens ID Light Bar Turn Brake Tail Reverse - OPT55KB

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look together at this Optronics Smoke Lens ID Light Bar. Now with a smoke lens and black housing, this light is going to blend into your black trailer while making you more visible to other drivers, whether you're cruising, turning, braking, or going in reverse. As you can see, I do have this hooked up to my 12 volt power source. This will wire into your 12 volt system on your trailer.

And what you currently see are the taillights illuminated. So this is designed for trailers over 80 inches wide. And this does feature red and white LEDs. So you're gonna get a total of 21 diodes in this light bar. And then again, this is going to feature or give you the function of the tail lights as you see here.

And lemme go ahead and turn my studio lights off so you can get a better idea of what this is gonna look like in low light or dark conditions. So that's going to be your tail light. And then there's your brake lights, obviously significantly brighter. And then turn. And then let me go ahead and show you reverse here.

And so there's your reverse light. So a full featured light bar, very bright. And you can see that's gonna be all 21 diodes lit up. And then let me go ahead and add the brakes to that as well. So that's going to be this light bar at maximum brightness with the brakes and the reverse on.

So very bright, gonna be very visible. Go ahead and turn my studio lights back on here. And I'm gonna disconnect from power just so I can give you a a better look at this. So this is a black polycarbonate housing, again, that smoke lens that you see here. And then this is going to be a surface mount. There's like a gasket here. This does not include any hardware, so that's something that you would have to source locally if you don't already have the compatible hardware. And lemme go ahead and give you some measurements, just so you have a good idea of the size of this light. So lemme go ahead and actually turn this around. It's gonna be easier to give you the measurement of the length measuring this way. So lining up my tape measure there is, I hope you can see. We're sitting right at 20 and a half inches long. And then let me go with my ruler for these smaller measurements. Looks like we're at one inch wide. And then the thickness, about three quarters of an inch thick. And then if you are wondering about the mounting holes, the distance between the mounting holes on center, see if I can line that up for you. This might be kind of tricky. So lining that up there, we're sitting right at about 19 and five eights inches on center between those mounting holes. So this is, obviously, gonna be a four wire pigtail. Again, wires into your 12 volt system on your trailer. This is DOT compliant. So it's a great light, great build quality. I think this is gonna hold up really well for you. Very bright. There is a lifetime warranty on the LEDs in case any of the diodes fail. Optronics will have you covered. If you do decide that this is going to be the light that's going to work best for you, we would love to hear back from you regarding your experience with the installation and the operation. You can leave a comment on this product page or leave a review. And with a review, you can also leave photos showing us this light installed on your towing setup. We'd love to hear from you and see those photos. Well that's gonna wrap up our brief look today. I do hope that our time together has been illuminating for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

super easy to navigate and fast shipping

They weren't too difficult to install. The 1 big hiccup was thee weren't any notes on the back of the lights themselves. Mounting them on uneven (diamond deck walls)surface was not a good time. I used clear silicone chalk around the hole for the wire pass to seal it up.

  • Recommended Optronics Thinline Trailer Light Bar w/ Smoke Lens
Hey Glen. We've got a couple of options for Optronics Smoke Series lights but we don't have the STL87DSRSHB which is a part number for a 10 pack. It looks like Optronics is phasing out the STL87 smoke series as well so I can't get them. • Does Optronics Light Bar Have a Brightness Rating for Visuals When Backing up a Trailer
Hey Bill, thanks for reaching out! The Optronics Smoke Lens ID Light Bar # OPT55KB doesn't have Lumen or Candela ratings according to my contact at Optronics. I will say that this will be about the equivalent of a light on your vehicle. So there will be some illumination, but if you're wanting a clear view of what's behind you, adding a standalone light fixture is the better way to go. I really like the Low Profile LED Flood Light # 3371492135 which I recommend hooking up to a switch...
