Boat trailers see plenty of water, salt, and road grime, and that’s where the galvanized GAL-DEX coating makes a real difference. This marine-grade finish helps resist rust and corrosion so your hub and drum setup stays smooth and reliable even after repeated dunking. It’s a smart choice for anyone who wants lasting protection without constant upkeep.
This Dexter hub-and-drum assembly is built for 6,000-lb axles and spreads the load evenly across a 6-on-5-1/2 bolt pattern. The 12" diameter x 2" wide drum gives solid braking surface area whether you’re running electric or hydraulic brakes. It’s made to work hard and hold up mile after mile.
Skip the extra steps—this assembly comes with the bearing races and wheel bolts already in place. You just add your bearings, seal, and grease cap (sold separately) and mount it up. It’s ready to go without the usual prep work, making it perfect for quick repairs or trailer refurb projects.
Getting the right fit is easy. This hub uses the 25580 inner bearing (1.75" ID) and 15123 outer bearing (1.25" ID), along with grease seals that fit 2-1/8" or 2-1/4" spindle surfaces. Having those standard sizes means it’s compatible with many existing axle setups while keeping replacement parts simple to source.
Whether you’re running electric or hydraulic systems, this 12" x 2" drum delivers consistent braking power. It’s a rugged, no-nonsense design that stands up to frequent use and steady towing—exactly what you want when reliability matters most.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a brief look together at this galvanized trailer hub and drum assembly. This galvanized trailer hub and drum assembly is gonna fit your 6,000 pound Dexter axles with spindles that require a 2-1/8 inch or 2-1/4 inch inner diameter grease seal. This is gonna be compatible with your electric and hydraulic brakes. And this features a gal deck zinc coating that's designed for marine applications. So the dimensions of this drum is 12 inches in diameter and two inches wide, and our bolt pattern is 6-on-5-1/2 inches.
And the first number in that bolt pattern is the number of wheel studs or bolts. And then that second number is the diameter in inches of the circle on which our wheel studs sit. So to determine the bolt circle diameter on an even number on a bolt pattern, you're simply going to measure from the center of one wheel stud to the center of the wheel stud directly across from it. And this has a weight capacity of 3,000 pounds. So when this one is matched with one on the other side of the axle, that's gonna meet your 6,000 pound axle capacity.
This does include the races and the wheel studs. So those races, the inner and outer race, are already installed. However, this will require bearings, a seal, and a grease cap. Those are sold separately from this. But on your screen, I'm including all the information that you need on what inner bearing and what outer bearing you are gonna need and then the grease seal and the grease cap.
So all that information is there and you can find that information on this product page as well. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our brief look today. I do hope that our time together was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

I am very sorry to hear that you were told everything was USA made Marc, as you saw the Dexter hub is made here in the US, but the bearings we pack are made in China. We do have USA made bearings but they would need to be purchased separately. For this hub you will want to get the Timken Bearing Kit for Lippert, Dexter, and AL-KO Axles - 3,500 lb with #84 Spindle # TMK52VR, you will want to order one set per hub. Once again, my apologies.
