Video Transcript for Coupler Pin: The Breakdown

Ellen: Hey, everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and today we're taking a look at the coupler pin. This is going to have a quarter-inch diameter. It's going to keep your trailer coupler from coming undone, keep it secure while you're towing down the road, and keep everything in place. So I'm going to give you some measurements to make sure that this is going to be a fit for your application. The usable length of our pin, as far as the total length there, going from the bottom of the head, it's about three and a quarter inch. But whenever we put our keeper over, it's going to take away a little bit of that usable length.

So now, it's more like two and three-quarter inches without stretching that pin out at all. It does have some gifts, so you could probably get that out to about three inches if need be. The space between our pin and our keeper, that height there is about an inch and a half, total length. It's about three and a half inches by about two inches. And again, that pin does have a diameter of a quarter-inch.

This has a zinc plating over the seal, so it should be corrosion-resistant, should be able to withstand being out in the elements for a long time without any issues. That's pretty much going to do it for our look at the coupler pin. If you need a different configuration, we do have a lot of options available here at etrailer.com, so check them out. Thanks for watching.

  • What is Usable Span of Coupler Pin - 1/4" Diameter x 3" Long # 37201281
Hey Brent, what you are looking for is the usable width of the Coupler Pin part # 37201281 that you referenced which is 3 inches. This is the distance between the shoulder of the head of the clamp out to where the metal clip slips over the shank. This would certainly be more than the 1-7/8 inches that you need!

  • Hitch Pin/Lock Needed For Demco Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler # DM15931-95
For the Demco Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler # DM15931-95 you will need the Coupler Pin # 37201281 to ensure the hitch ball does not come unlatched while towing. You can also use the Lock # e98888 for additional security. The Pin # 37201244 you found only has a usable length of 2-9/16" and you need a minimum of 3" to fit your coupler. Also with the coupler pin opening of 5/16" you will not want to use a 5/16" pin as the pin is more likely to get stuck due to corrosion.

  • Replacement Snapper Pin for the 24x40 etrailer Cargo Carrier for RV Bumper
Glad to hear that you're enjoying the 24x40 etrailer Cargo Carrier for RV Bumper # e99050! The snapper pins that come with the 24x40 etrailer Cargo Carrier have a 10 mm diameter and 75 mm of usable space. While we don't have a direct replacement for this, I do have an alternative option that will still work: - Coupler Pin - 1/4" Diameter x 3" Long # 37201281 Ideally if you could have a 3/8" diameter pin with 3" of usable space that would be the best route to go, but out of all the pins...

  • Do You Have a 5/16" Diameter Snapper Pin 2-3/4" Long?
The Pin # 37201244 is our longest 5/16" pin but it only has a usable length of 2-9/16". We do have a 1/4" Pin # 37201281 with a 3" usable length if you can use the smaller diameter pin.

  • Does etrailer carry N-Bolts Or Know How I Could Get Some?
That's a great question Rick, and to be honest, I am not sure. We do not carry any here at etrailer. I cannot say I have ever seen them at a hardware store I have been to, and even asking my associates around the shop here that seemed to be the consensus. Even the jungle website doesn't have them. Looking on google I see a few advertised but not from any sources I recognize or trust. That said, we do offer a wide variety of both round and square u-bolts. Perhaps you could find an appropriately...
