The RetraxPRO XR gives you heavy-duty protection with its 1" thick aluminum slats and built-in key lock. When the cover is closed, it works with your locked tailgate to secure everything inside. The locking handle lets you stop and latch the cover at any point along the rails, so you can keep smaller gear hidden in front while hauling long items that extend out the back. The matte black finish resists scratches and fading, while the solid aluminum construction stands up to impacts, snow loads, and rough weather.

Getting to your gear is simple thanks to sealed ball-bearing rollers that glide the cover open and closed without any lubrication. There are no hinges, springs, or straps to deal with, so nothing binds or freezes in bad weather. The pop-up handle makes it easy to slide the cover with one hand from either side, and the spiral track system keeps the slats from rubbing against each other as they retract into the canister.

When you need the full bed for bigger gear, just retract the cover into its space-saving canister—no removal needed. The angled bottom of the canister leaves extra room underneath for sliding long items or small gear. Because the cover latches securely at any position, you can carry oversized loads while still keeping tools or bags covered and protected up front.

Foam seals along the rails and weather stripping on all sides keep out rain, snow, and dust. The cover overlaps the tailgate to block water from sneaking inside, and two drain tubes in the canister route away any water that gets in. Even through storms and car washes, your cargo stays dry and the cover stays clean.

The integrated Trax Rail System makes it easy to mount T-slot-compatible accessories like Yakima, Rhino Rack, or Thule crossbars. That means you can carry bikes, kayaks, or rooftop tents above the bed while the cover slides freely underneath. With a 500-lb evenly distributed weight capacity, the RetraxPRO XR is built to handle serious use without compromising operation or cargo access.

Ratings & Reviews
Love the look and feel of the cover.
Need I say more... :)
Tonneau cover was delivered to my door with no damage. Hope to install it this weekend, weather permitting.
It doesn’t lock into any position very well, either have all the way open or close. At time after I unlock it then I have to open the tail gate pull it to get it to unlock.
Showed up quickly, this is the 3rd purchase from etrailer.com, they have great customer service, they know their products, prices are reasonable and they ship fast. I also purchased the Curt Hitch from them.
Order was processed quickly and arrive in the specified shipping time. Easy two person install and fine tuning is an easy one person job. Great quality top and rugged. Perfect top for your pickup. Bed stays water tight so storing sleeping bags or luggage is no problem on long trips.
Short version, LOVE IT!!! This was a lot more money than I wanted to spend but it was well worth it. While not water tight it is close. Easy to install, easy to operate. Does not make noise even on washboard roads. The loss of space by having a canister has not impacted me. But I saved the best for last. My daughter wanted one for her truck so I ordered another one. It was damaged in shipment and the best customer service representative in the world, Kimberly O, helped me out by getting me a new replacement quickly. I highly recommend this Tonneau Cover. I also got T-Slots and use my Rhino crossbars with the cover. No problems, just like they were made for each other.
Thanks etrailer. Ordered the Yakima Overhaul ladder racks and the Retrax tonneau cover. It’s the perfect solution for our camping/kayaking trips. Both products are solid and top notch. Installation was a breeze on my 20 Tundra.
Nice product. Had shipping damage etrailer made it right.
Really like this cover. Installation was fairly straightforward I was able to do the install myself but another person would have been helpful.
Retrax Pro XR with Rhino Rack Cross Bar set for the XR
This has greatly simplified my bicycle transport. Before I was using separate ladder rack on back of trailer, and hitch rack on truck. Compared with my prior setup, here are the improvements:
-- removes ~75 lbs from back of my trailer
-- not dealing with separate truck and camper bike racks (esp hitch rack taking up bed room while towing)
-- don't have to unload bikes to check something on camper roof
-- bikes are easier to load (even with lifting)
-- cross bars detach in seconds and lift off for full bed access or car wash (the cross bar and bike rack assembly stores on hook in garage)
-- Don't have to remove and store bike seats (they extended well past right side of trailer when on ladder rack)
-- Bikes are more protected above tonneau cover than either on hitch rack or ladder rack.
The Retrax Pro XR cover performs and looks like new after 1 year. Took 2 of us to install and adjust properly. Very minimal water leakage around tailgate sometimes which is expected. Read reviews of water leaks but must be due to improper installation/adjustment. Very satisfied and looks great. 2024 GMC 2500HD Denali
The Retrax Pro HR and Yakima Overhaul HD is a perfect combo and works well together.
We really like the bed cover. Wish it was more waterproof but still really nice.
Great fit. I had on on my old F150 and like the fit even more on my new Ram 2500.
I couldn’t be happier with this tonneau cover for my F450. It shipped well, arrived quickly, and was packaged securely with no damage at all. Everything was organized and protected right out of the box.
Installation was surprisingly easy — clear instructions and no headaches. I had it mounted in no time, and it fit my F450 perfectly. The alignment was spot-on and the clamps secured tightly without any modifications needed.
The cover looks great, feels durable, and gives the truck a clean, finished appearance while keeping the bed fully protected. It opens and closes smoothly and feels solid once locked down.
If you’re looking for a tonneau cover for your F450, this is a great choice. Fast shipping, easy install, and excellent quality — 5 stars all the way!
Quality and fit and finish seem strong. Straightforward install.
Would be 5 stars if the cover could close while using the Toyota tie-down system. The locking components knock up against the OEM tie-down brackets and stop the tonneau cover from closing.
Secondly, the OEM Toyota tie-down brackets cannot be used in the accessory T-slots as the OEM brackets have a larger T and cannot slide into the RetraxPRO accessory T-slots.
So,. I've paid for two different tie down systems , Toyota and Retrax and still don't have a solution. At my age I should have known better and done more research.
Replaced my "soft" tonneau cover that was tearing, fading, and falling apart after 10 years of faithful service. Bought this tonneau cover because of the retractable operation and the aluminum construction. While it is obviously built tougher and the operation is smooth, it does have its downfalls (which I didn't think of too much at the time). One being the space that is lost in the front where all that retraction goes, I guess there is around 8 inches of height at the very front. Additionally, where it lays is slightly lower than the bed rails which takes away at least around an inch of height compared to my previous cover. This makes a big difference when getting tall containers and the like to fit. I do enjoy the elevated level of security the new tonneau cover offers, even though I had zero problems with the previous cover.
Easy to order and find the correct fit. This is my third cover from this brand and my first with aluminum slats instead of polycarbonate due to a different truck size. Installation took about two hours from start to cleanup, and I needed a couple of neighbors to help lift it since the aluminum version is heavier. My previous polycarbonate covers didn’t leak and worked well, but they became slightly wavy over time. I expect the aluminum version to hold up better.
Installation note for 2026 Ram 3500 Dually: when positioning the clamps at each set of plastic allen screws had to adjust front and back clamps The front clamp near the cab bolts were a bit short due to the wider gap between bed and tonneau rail, so I removed the top back piece of the clamp to secure it properly. The lower supports did not fully reach the side walls, and the rear clamp near the tailgate required removing the lower support bolt to clear the cargo light. The middle clamps fit as intended with no adjustments. Something for the manufacture to consider as new trucks come out with different accessories.
Overall, I’ve been very happy with this brand over the years and am satisfied with this purchase.
Was relatively simple to install and works as advertised. Not my first of these covers so I am a return customer and also new what to expect with installation. The PDF instructions are good, but not quite Lego or IKEA level. I haven't installed the Yakima HD Overhaul System yet, but do not expect any issues.
I installed the RetraxPro XR tonneau cover myself and it wasn't bad at all. I had to do a lot of adjusting to get it perfectly straight and even. The hardest part was having my wife help me lift the cover in the truck after it was assembled. I wish they would include some kind of a reducer to be able to fit the drain hoses into the smaller holes in the bed of the truck so no drilling would have to be made. Other than that, great bed cover and can't wait to add T-slot accessories.
The canister cover (metal) and end piece (plastic) were damaged in shipping, but eTrailer/Retrax shipped another cover assembly quickly.
I was able to assemble and install everything according to instructions. I recommend have two moderately strong people to install the canister and rails on the truck -- the canister is heavy; with the rails, it's just awkward.
I read reviews complaining the cover isn't watertight. I paid special attention to the installation instructions to ensure the appropriate (slight) twist to the rails. I still have minor water ingress on either side at the front or back of the truck bed, but everything remains dry in the middle. If you have something that MUST not get wet, I recommend elevating it slightly off the bed AND covering it with a waterproof tarp -- it's cheap insurance.
I have two complaints: first, the latch is so long, it collides with my Rhino Rack. Argh! I need to buy the additional risers for the rack. Second, I wish there was the ability to open the cover from either the driver's or passenger's side. When I have a trailer attached, I find myself hopping over the tongue -- a nit, I know.
I had a solid tonneau before and liked it. Only problems with it were you could not drive with the cover up and it was a bear to remove even with the help of my wife. That truck was totaled by a drunk driver. So the replacement truck had to have an easier cover and wile I was at it, why not some racks as well?
It looks great! Fits perfectly and was a synch to install.
On the down side it is not completely dry and it did freeze up once in the winter. Other than that I do like it and gave it 4 stars
