When you need to haul more than what fits in the bed, the integrated Trax Rail System makes it easy to mount T-slot-compatible racks from Yakima, Thule, or Rhino Rack right on top. You can carry bikes, ladders, or kayaks above the bed while the retractable cover still slides open and closed underneath. The rails don’t interfere with how the cover operates, so you can load up for work or a weekend trip without removing anything.
Keeping gear safe is simple with the RetraxPRO XR’s built-in locking handle. The 1" thick aluminum slats are impact resistant and can support up to 500 lbs of evenly distributed weight. When you close the cover and lock your tailgate, everything underneath stays out of sight and locked down. You can also latch the cover at any point along the rails, so part of the bed can stay covered while you haul long items that extend over the tailgate.
Opening and closing this cover is effortless thanks to the sealed ball-bearing rollers in the side rails. They let the cover glide back and forth evenly without binding, springs, or straps to deal with. The design keeps dirt and debris from getting trapped, and there’s no need for lubrication or maintenance. With the pop-up handle, you can slide it open or closed with one hand, then lock it back down wherever you need it.
Rain, snow, and dust stay out of the bed with weather stripping and foam seals around all sides. The cover overlaps the top of the tailgate to block out water, and two drain tubes built into the canister route any moisture that gets inside safely out of the truck bed. The aluminum and matte black finish resist fading, scratches, and corrosion, so the cover keeps looking good through every season.
When you need the full bed for larger cargo, the cover retracts into a compact canister that sits at the bulkhead. The spiral track system keeps the slats from rubbing against each other as they roll in, reducing wear and keeping operation smooth. The angled bottom of the canister saves space underneath, giving you more room to slide items in. With the side rails sitting just 1" above the bed, the whole setup keeps a clean, low-profile look that blends right into the truck.

Thanks for taking the time for such a detailed review RAMDaddy! I would say you definitely got your moneys worth on your last one with the 10 years of use! And valid points on the new cover, it does stink that the canister takes up so much room, but it is still a really nice cover. I hope you get 10 years plus out of this new one =)

Had this on my truck for over a year, outside in the elements every day and it still looks brand new. The finish is tough and durable. It rolls open and closed with ease and the locking mechanism is free and smooth. Couldnt be happier with it.
