Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at this T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with four-pole flat trailer connector. Now this wiring harness has been designed to fit your 2019 and newer Volkswagen Tiguan, and on custom-fit parts such as this harness, I do recommend taking advantage of our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer.com. Just input the year, make, and model of your vehicle, and our fit guide will confirm if this will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you. So this harness is going to give you a four-pole flat trailer connector at the back of your Volkswagen to power your trailer signal lights.

This is also going to be compatible with five, six, and seven-pole adapters, and those adapters are sold separately. Now included here is this dust cap for the four-pole flat connector, and as you can see here, it is tethered to the plug housing, so you're not gonna have to worry about losing this cap, and that cap is gonna cover up those connection points when this plug is not in use. Now the black box here is a ModuLite Power Module, and this ModuLite is going to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer. This does connect directly to your vehicle's battery to avoid overloading the vehicle's electrical system, so it's gonna help reduce strain on your vehicle's wiring system, and this is not going to affect how the taillights on your Volkswagen operate. Now this harness is designed to connect quickly and easily.

What's nice about this harness is you're not gonna have to worry about splicing wires, you're not gonna have to worry about making alterations to your vehicle which could possibly lead to damage or maybe even voiding warranties. These custom-fit T-One connector plugs are going to plug into your Volkswagen's wiring harness, which is going to be located in your rear cargo area on both the driver's side and the passenger side. You will probably have to remove the rear threshold panel, cargo trays, and interior trim panels to access the harness, and then these T-connectors are, as I mentioned, they're custom-fitted to your vehicle, so they're gonna match up perfectly with the connection points on your Volkswagen. They're gonna snap and lock together for a tight secure fit, and then once you have these plugged in, you do need to make a good ground connection, and so the ground wire is this white wire, and, if you notice, it has a ring terminal attached to it, and this does come with a self-tapping screw that you can see right there, so you're gonna be able to get this grounded to a suitable location such as your vehicle's frame or crossmember. You just wanna make sure that that surface is clean and rust-free.

Next, you'll need to mount the ModuLite box to a safe out-of-the-way location. You can do that a number of different ways. This does include this double-sided adhesive tape, but that's probably not gonna be enough to hold it, so I would recommend along with this tape, maybe use one of the cable ties that's included with this kit, or if you have a another self-tapping screw on hand, run a screw through the top of this box, so you just wanna make sure that it is going to be secured and you're not gonna have to worry about it coming loose inside of your vehicle and flopping around or anything like that, so you do have those options to secure it. Now next you will need to run a hot lead to the vehicle's battery, so that's going to be this short black wire that's coming out of the ModuLite box. This short black wire is going to get connected to one end of this included bundle of black wire using one of the included butt connectors, and then the other end of this bundle is going to get routed to your vehicle's battery, and once you have this routed to the battery, you're going to take this fuse holder here, and it's gonna come like this.

You're gonna snip that wire in half and then you're going to take one of those wires with the second butt connector and connect it to the routed wire from the ModuLite box, and then once you have that connected, you'll take this other wire and you'll connect this included ring terminal to it, and you will take that ring terminal and attach it to the positive post of your vehicle's battery. This does come with a 15 amp fuse and that's gonna slide right into that fuse holder, and you'll close the cap to keep that fuse safe and protected. I mentioned the cable ties, so you're gonna get a bunch of 'em here, and this is going to allow you to secure any excess or slack in your wiring, and then once the installation is complete, you're gonna be able to stow this four-way flat connector in your rear cargo area. Tekonsha makes, in my opinion, my favorite trailer wiring harness. It's made out of a really rugged material, out of 16-gauge bonded wire. It feels premium, in my opinion, and so I think this is gonna hold up really well for you. Instructions are gonna be included to guide you through the installation process, and it is also recommended that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all of your electrical connections, like the plugs on your vehicle and the four-pole flat connector itself. It is designed to help prevent electrical failures caused by corrosion and moisture, so on your screen I am including our part number for that grease.
