Accelerated rubber breakdown, which is commonly seen on tires as cracking and dry rot, will affect your spare tire even though it remains stationary on the back of your vehicle or trailer until you need it. The rubber of most tires contains protective waxes that are released to the surface when you drive on it. Because you're not using your spare, it's more vulnerable to damage caused by exposure to UV rays and ozone. In short, your spare tire will wear out even if its rubber has never met the pavement. A spare tire cover is one way you can combat this form of wear.

This cover easily goes on slick and smooth. It keeps spare clean and UV protected. Has drain at bottom for any water that it catches. Held up flawlessly for over a year of weather and 7k miles. Well worth its modest cost.

Fit perfectly over my Prius spare.
Toyota is no longer putting spare tires in their cars and giving you a can of tire foam and a air can. I negotiated it back in before I would buy the car. I tied it down in the trunk and my wife is happy it is now covered.
The cover is made well but wish it was made with something better then vinyl.

the spare tire cover that I ordered was a little small. I called etrailer and spoke to mark. He helped me to find and order the correct size for my trailer. Also Courtney was very helpful to me when I called about a question. All personal that I talked to were very nice and courteous. Nice cover, however I should have ordered a size larger. I Measured my tire at 25 inch diameter & 8 inch wide, my tire is 205x75-14. After leaving it in the sun to heat up and a half an hour of of pulling & Streching I got it on. It looks great and is nice and tight,It would have been helpful in the one line discription to say it fits a 13 inch tire as it does on the package. Happy with the overall experience. I will be sure to go with the larger cover next time. Thank you.
