Your 3/8" propane tubing won't connect directly to equipment with 3/8" female NPT threads. This brass adapter joins the flared tubing to the threaded connection, so you can connect the two different fitting types.
Your propane line and the component you're installing may use two different connections. If you have 3/8" OD tubing with a female flare nut but your regulator, valve, or other compatible component has 3/8" female NPT threads, they won't connect directly.
