Features to know about

Stay Level and Confident Under Heavy Loads: 8,600-lb Rear Suspension Support

When you’re hauling serious weight, nothing’s worse than rear-end sag throwing off your balance. The Timbren Suspension Enhancement System – Severe Service – Rear Axle adds up to 8,600 lbs of load-leveling capacity to keep your ride level and stable. Each hollow rubber spring stiffens progressively as more weight is added, working with your factory suspension to reduce squat and maintain even handling when towing or carrying heavy gear.

Smooth Out the Rough Stuff: Hollow Rubber Springs That Absorb Shock

Rough roads and heavy loads can make a truck feel like it’s taking a beating. Timbren’s Aeon hollow rubber springs cushion impacts by acting as shock absorbers that take the brunt of bumps and potholes. The rubber design compresses along its folds for a progressive feel—soft when lightly loaded, firm when you’re at capacity—so you get a smoother, more controlled ride without bottoming out or stressing your leaf springs.

Stay Steady in Crosswinds and Turns: Independent Spring Action

Sharp turns or uneven loads can cause sway and body roll that make driving uncomfortable. These springs work independently on each side of the axle to keep your vehicle planted through corners, crosswinds, or when loads are off-center. The independent action also helps keep the trailer in line by reducing the turbulence transferred from your vehicle, improving overall stability and safety.

Install and Go: Simple Bolt-On Setup with Custom Brackets

Getting better load support shouldn’t mean tearing the truck apart. This kit includes two Aeon hollow rubber springs, custom-fit brackets, and hardware for a straightforward bolt-on install. The brackets mount directly to the frame above the rear axle with no drilling required. Once installed, the system automatically engages as the load increases—no air hoses, compressors, or manual adjustments needed—so you’re always ready for the next haul.

The reality of how long it took to install was misrepresented. I am 74 years old and my wife and I installed these bump stops in about a 2 hour span including rest time. We actually expected that. The results were as promised and I truly appreciate that.

by:

I tow a RZR in a covered trailer just under 5K, including tools and supplies. Just bought this 2022 F150 and there was a slight amount of sag when pulling the trailer. I decided to try the Timbrens hoping they would not stiffen the normal ride. They work as advertised-us9ing the spacer. Easy install too.

by:

Quality product, I have owned Timbrens before. They work good. Installation is fairly easy depending on your skill level. Etrailer as always - great!

by:

Do not keep vehicle level. 800 Lb. tongue weight trail still lowers rear of truck approximately 4 inches. 3500 GMC Dually 4x4

My advice is don't be lazy just go with air bags.

They say satisfaction guaranteed defiantly not satisfied and will be less than happy if they charge me a restocking fee on a bad product. I should have known better.

by:

They work well when you are pulling a heavy load but when you are driving the pickup empty they ride really rough. I removed them after about 3 months of use and went with air bags instead.

by:

It would be helpful if the kit contained all the hardware to attach it to the truck. I purchased this to replace a Loadlifter 5000 that was installed 9 years ago. I don’t have the OEM clip and nuts that goes into the frame. It took hours of searching before I finally figured out I could find it on the Ford suspension schematics.

by:

Time will tell! Fast and easy install on my 2012 custom flatbed tundra. Hoping this will help when I overload my truck. I have about 900 lbs of extra weight on my truck at all times + Old man Emu heavy duty leaf springs.

by:

Love my Timbrens. Had airbags and was tired of leaks and the need to adjust air pressure. Easy to install!

by:

They are difficult to seat. Soapy water does nothing to help. I had to spray with silicon, jack up the back of the truck and place 2x4's between the bump stop and the axle,NUMEROUS TIMES.
Once I towed my 5th wheel I noticed the difference. When unloaded, the ride is normal.

by:

The Timbrens arrived and install was a breeze. Look to be of very good quality. I went with the severe duty because my truck is always loaded up with camping supplies, electric bikes tools…. The topper on back along with the slide tray are added weight. I pull a 7k travel Trailer with 650-700 pounds on hitch. The Timbrens are barely touching the axel without the trailer. I really enjoy dealing with etrailer. They answer all your questions and always put the customer first. It’s kind of like your project is their project.

by:

I ran air bags on my previous trucks when pulling my 5th wheel and trailers, but these worked just as well without the expense. I run them on a F350. Great product!!!

by:

Really won't know until I put my truck camper on the vehicle. Product looks and feels quality, we'll see about performance. Installation instructions could be a bit more detailed.

by:

Works well on my F250 6.75 bed with a 1700lb dry Capri Retreat camper. Solved 4" squat without airbags. Eliminated sway in high winds.

by:

I have Timbrens on an F350. We have a heavy truck camper that we use multiple times a year. I've had both these and airbags on multiple rigs over the years and the Timbrens are superior by far especially because they don't leak at the connections, valves or bags or work loose. They also help with the sway.
There is no pump or electrical involved. Airbags have just too many parts and potential points of failure guaranteed to happen away from home on a muddy road. Once Timbres are installed you're done. In this case the less expensive and simpler solution is the better one!

Well made product, which arrived quicker than expected. etrailer’s customer service responded quickly when I asked if this would fit my truck. I am a fan of etrailer and appreciate their support and service.

Unfortunately this product does not work for my vehicle. I purchased these to augment the amount of squat my 2020 1500 Denali has when pulling a camper. Once installed and the camper hooked up we experienced a complete bottoming out of the vehicle even on the smallest of bumps. We had to remove the Timbren’s immediately.

For those of you who own a GMC Denali equipped with a magnet suspension, this product will not work for you. To date, I have looked at many options and have not found one that will fit this vehicle.

I reached out to the manufacturer to confirm if the magnetic suspension made a difference in fitment and they said it doesnt. So it sounds like these do fit like they should, which is good. To your point though, they are very stiff and unless your truck has a slide on camper or is carrying a tank of water or a similar scenario, these are most likely too heavy duty, which would explain the uncomfortable ride. I think you would like part # SS45FR. It has a similar install and work the same way but they are softer so it will still support your suspension without you feeling every little bump and crevice in the road.

by:

Installed them on my 2025 GMC 1500 Sierra for a truck camper. The ride was awful without the camper. It also didn’t do the job with the camper on. Bought Firestone air ride bags instead.

  • Best Suspension Enhancement For a 2023 Chevy 1500 Towing a Jayco Camper
Thanks for your question and congrats on your new camper, Glenn! I see you were looking at the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System # T53MR. If you’re just doing casual towing, I wouldn’t recommend going with Timbrens. They’re really best for situations where the truck is under a constant load, like carrying weight in the bed or towing regularly. When you’re not loaded, there’s usually about an inch of gap before the Timbrens engage, so things like speed bumps, potholes, or rough roads...

  • Suspension Enhancement for 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X
Hi Bill; I'm not surprised the # T53MR gives you a rough ride since it is the severe service kit. Timbren SES isn't overly forgiving to begin with, and this particular design is for constant loads like a slide-in camper. I would recommend the SumoSprings but unfortunately they won't work with AT4 models. You will need to look outside of the jounce style springs for suspension enhancement. As long as you don't have the composite mono-leaf springs I recommend the RoadActive Suspension Custom...

  • Which Air Bags Will Fit My 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 with Diesel Engine?
Hello Dan. The item you were looking at is the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System - Severe Service - Rear Axle # T53MR is a bump stop. These are a confirmed fit for your 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Diesel, these will work when you need them with a heavy load, but the ride will be a little rougher than if you were to go with the airbags. For air bags we do not have any Firestone's that will work with the diesel engine, but we do have something just as comparable, the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000...

  • Comparing Timbren Suspension Enhancement For a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500
The Timbren Suspension Enhancement System # T28MR is designed for your 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 both for heavy loads and unloaded. Do note that unloaded ride quality will be more stiff. The Timbren System # T53MR is their severe service kit. This is designed for vehicles that will always be carrying heavy loads. If you are adding a service bed, slide in camper or salt spreader this is the better option. Without a heavy load on the suspension you will notice a much stiffer ride for the rear...

  • Which Timbren Kit for 2024 GMC Sierra 1500
The rear Timbren kit you'd want for your 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 is the part # T28MR which is the standard duty version. This will give you a better blend of support and ride quality than the severe duty version part # T53MR which would be a lot harsher.

  • Timbren Suspension Enhancement System for a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4
The Timbren Suspension Enhancement System item # T53MR includes a 1" spacer that is optional for install. The suspension enhancement system should have a 1/2" to 1-1/2" gap between the rubber spring and contact point of your 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 when empty. A partial load, or other accessories will reduce or eliminate the gap. The overall height of this system is 5 3/4" so you if have larger than a 1-1/2" gap you will need to add the Timbren 1" Spacer item # TA25723-90AD00 or the 1/2"...

  • Will Timbren SES # T53MR Work On A 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali
Hey Joey, The Timbren Suspension Enhancement System # T53MR is a severe service kit with an 8,600lb capacity. A 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali only has a 2,240lb payload capacity so these would be waaay over what you would need and would make your unloaded ride quality rough. An option like the RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS54FR would be the better choice to support your suspension without affecting your unloaded ride quality. It has a 3,000lb load leveling...

  • Suspension Enhancement for 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 With Cirrus 620 Truck Camper
For extra support with your Cirrus 620 Truck Camper I recommend the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System # T53MR. These have 8,600 lbs of load-leveling capacity and are specifically designed for constant loads like your truck bed camper or salt spreaders. They are going to add the extra support you're looking for while helping to reduce sag and increasing your overall stability. Keep in mind, these do not increase the actual capacity of your 2024 Silverado. In addition to your traditional...

  • Recommend Timbrens for 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 with In Bed Camper
The Timbren Suspension Enhancement System part # T53MR is a great option for a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with in-bed camper, they are in fact designed for this exact application. There will be some squat present but not nearly as much as before and with the factory rake of the truck built-in, you'll likely be level with the new jounce springs installed. This will then transfer weight to the front axle helping with braking, steering, and much more.
