Features to know about

Stay Level and in Control: 900-lb Rear Suspension Support

A heavy load in the back can make the rear end sag and throw off your steering and braking. These SumoSprings Solo helper springs add up to 900 lbs of support at 50-percent compression to keep your ride level and steady. They help your factory suspension handle extra weight, making sure your front tires stay planted and your headlights stay aimed where they should when towing or hauling.

Smooth Ride Over Every Bump: Progressive Load Control

Whether you’re carrying a light load or maxing out your cargo space, these springs automatically adjust to the weight. The microcellular urethane compresses easily for soft engagement when lightly loaded, then firms up as needed—up to 80 percent compression—for heavier hauls. Each ride feels smooth over bumps and dips, without the harsh rebound that comes from overworked factory springs.

Stay Steady in Crosswinds and Turns: Independent Spring Action

When a curve or crosswind tries to push you around, each spring works on its own to keep both sides of the vehicle balanced. That independent action helps reduce body roll when cornering and evens out off-center loads so the truck feels stable through turns, uneven roads, or when parking on an incline.

Ready for Real-World Use: Durable, Maintenance-Free Design

Built from tough microcellular urethane, these springs handle temperatures from -25 F to 200 F and resist oil, salt, and UV damage. They compress vertically with minimal side expansion, so they fit neatly even in tighter spaces without rubbing against nearby parts. There’s no air line to run or pressure to monitor—once installed, they’re maintenance-free and always ready to go.

DIY Friendly Setup: Simple No-Drill Installation

Adding load support shouldn’t mean a day in the shop. The SumoSprings Solo kit mounts using existing points for a no-drill install, making it a straightforward project for anyone comfortable with basic tools. Two jounce-style springs are included, giving you everything you need to upgrade your rear suspension quickly and get back to hauling with confidence.

Video Transcript for All About the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs-SS28UV

Hi, everyone, Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the SumoSprings solo line of custom helper springs. This is gonna come in a variety of different fits, and have different styles of spring. So let's check them out and talk about the differences. Now right away, this is going to be for the rear axle. You can see we've got one installed on our 4Runner today.

That's just one of many fits available, and it's a direct bolt on installation. Now with the rear axle, it's gonna help with a number of things. In any sort of towing applications where we've got a lot of tongue weight on the hitch, bringing the back end down, and the front end of the vehicle up, it's going to help return us to a more normal ride height. Now, unlike an airbag that's adjustable where you can tailor it to each load independently, this is going to be pretty much fixed, but it will provide a lot more support, especially compared to the factory bump stops. Now, this is just an example, because every vehicle fit's gonna be a little bit different, but just the overall height difference between the factory and the SumoSprings option is going to be pretty drastic.

So with these being so much larger, they're going to make contact with the axle a lot quicker, so we get quicker engagement and support. So we don't have all of this open air between the bump stop and the axle, where if we hit a bump with a heavy load, we feel all of this bouncing, or side to side, we don't feel as much sway, because this may contact a lot quicker, and provides that support when we need it. And with the SumoSprings, there are gonna be multiple different kinds. If you're looking at different options, you'll see a blue, a yellow, and a black one, and they are different. They really differ in the density.

Overall function and fit, it's gonna be pretty much the same. For example, on the 4Runner here, one of these black ones is available, but also a blue one. It's gonna be the same fit, but they offer different support. The blue one is going to be the lightest density, the black one is the medium density, and the yellow is the most extreme heavy density. That just means as you get more dense, it provides more support, and all of the weight capacities, depending on the kits, will vary a little bit, but as a general rule of thumb, you can go by that color scheme to find out whether you need the light, medium, or heavy duty option.

Now these feature a progressive spring rate, and what that means is the more they compress, the more they're going to push back and support, and try to bring the vehicle back to its normal driving position. So the initial first bit of compression is going to be a bit softer and easier to move. So for normal day-to-day driving when you have these installed, it isn't going to be as stiff. Then as we get into heavy loads and we start getting pretty extreme compression, it's going to work harder to push back to that normal state, and bring us back to a comfortable driving position. Now as far as the construction goes, it's going to be a microcellular urethane material, as opposed to something like a rubber material. Now the urethane's gonna be very heavy duty. It's gonna work in temperatures from negative 25 degrees Fahrenheit, all the way up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. So you can expect it to work in all sorts of weather conditions. And this material is going to resist all kinds of oil, road salt, and UV rays. So if it does make contact with the sun, it's not going to weather away, and any sort of road conditions, like road salt in the winter, isn't going to cause this to degrade over time. So whether you're looking for support side to side and limiting body roll in your vehicle, or you're looking for backend support for towing, or maybe just something heavy in the hitch like a cargo carrier, this is going to be a great way to do that. It's a maintenance-free solution, so you don't have to worry about maintaining air pressure in it like an airbag, although you don't get as much adjustability with it. I do think that trade-off is very much worth it, because once it's installed, you don't have to worry about it. The installation process is obviously going to vary depending on what kit you get, so do be sure to use our vehicle fit guide on our website to find the right kit for you and your vehicle. But that'll do it for our Look at This medium density SumoSprings solo line of air helper springs here at etrailer. Thanks for watching.

I bought these but still have not managed to install them (trying to give full force while underneath the car on jack stands unnerves me). But I do believe these will be a great upgrade given how well the front bumpstocks worked out.

2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
These were installed on a 2017 Sprinter 2500. They get 5 stars for ride improvement but the 4 stars is for the installation instructions. I could not install them following the directions. An installation video from Sumo Springs would be most helpful. In the end, I used the instructions for another similar product and they went right in.
My wife and I feel it is a 5 star improvement in the ride. The Sprinter feels more solid on the road, and going over bumps, especially at an angle, they really cut down on the body swaying. Product is highly recommended.

The Sumo Springs do make a big difference in the body roll and stability of the Sprinter, which is an RV rolling at around 8,000 lbs +. Just added Sumo Springs to the front and that has improved the handling even more.

I installed Sumos front and rear on my PleasureWay Ascent, which is built on a Mercedes Benz Sprinter 2500 chassis. There is no better bang for the buck when it comes to suspension enhancements. Sway is reduced, bottoming is eliminated, and overall handling is improved. I am 100% satisfied.

Not quite sure why the headline of my review says Ram 2500, because it’s a Mercedes Sprinter 2500. But I remain 100 satisfied and have recommended Sumo Springs to many others, via three different Facebook groups that I’m on. I first installed Sumos on the rear, and then a thousand miles later installed them on the front. I remain convinced that there’s no better bang for the buck as far as suspension enhancements go.

While traveling we had a fellow Pleasure Way owner tell us about the Sumo Springs. We had them installed in the front and rear. It made a huge difference in driving. The RV does not sway on major highways when going at higher speeds.

This only pertains to the order, shipping speed, and install as I have not put a heavy load on these sumo Springs yet but I feel like that's a foregone conclusion based off the reviews already. The ordering process, the shipping, and the installation was unbelievably easy. I kept rereading the instructions thinking this can't be right because it was so simple. I looked at the YouTube video and realized it is that simple! So happy with the ordering process, the quality of the initial product I opened, and how simple it was to put on the jeep.

That is the beauty of SumoSprings! Super easy to install and once they're on you can forget they're there! Are you planning on towing something with your Jeep that you want extra support for?

@ClaireH yes Ms Claire. I plan to put a truck camper on the Jeep (that weighs in the 500-1000 lbs range). My payload is 1700 lbs so I know a camper of the weight will be significant my truck. Already ordered a stiffer rear anti-sway bar as well.

@Justin That sounds like a good plan! These SumoSprings plus the sway bar should be more than enough to handle the weight of your truck bed camper.

2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
I put these on a 2013 Jeep JK (not lifted) that tows a 3000 lb trailer in rough terrain; Total game changer.

These replaced the anemic factory stops (which had completely disintegrated) and make it impossible to 'bottom out' on the dips and holes that use to beat up the suspension. I got nearly all of my vertical travel back and the vehicle now sits almost level under high tongue load.

They go on pretty easy. I suggest sliding in one side, and then using a wooden dowel and hammer to pop the other side in the stock receiver cup.

Highly recommended. These are a MUST if you are towing a trailer (with a medium sized SUV) of any significant weight or if you just want to be able to bounce hard without bottoming out your suspension. I am likely going to get the front suspension version now as well.
Wish I knew these existed sooner.

2025 Promaster 2500 159” wheelbase. Backed the van on couple 2” X 6 “ easier sliding under. Sprayed PB Blaster on top of bumper spring, using a 16” Channel Lock, easy off with the old. At that time I jacked the rear end to allow clearance. One side at a time. Took longer for set up then the job. I used the long bolt with two spacers. Have not drove yet, though looking for great results.

Glad to hear the install wasn't too bad, Michael! Definitely let us know how the ride is once you take it out for a drive! What are you using your Van for? The tires look pretty beefy.

  • Is There a Rear Anti-Sway Bar for a 2024 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 1500?
Hey Tim, thanks for reaching out! I've checked with Hellwig and with Roadmaster, but none of them show a rear anti-sway bar fitment for your 2024 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 1500. It's not quite the same as an anti-sway bar, but the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-330-47 are a decent alternative solution as they will help to stabilize the vehicle a bit more than the standard factory anti-sway bar. Are you experiencing loss of control while driving?

  • Helper Spring Recommendation for 2019 Mercedes Sprinter 2500
You're correct, the SumoSprings Rebel such as part # SSR-327-47-2 is compatible with 4WD vehicles only. For a 2WD vehicle, I'd recommend the SumoSprings Solo, part # SSR-330-47 which would add 900 lbs of support for your payload. For a higher capacity, up to 1650 lbs of support, go with the SuperSprings # SSA11MTKT. Both systems will add support and reduce shock as well as minimizing sway. The SumoSprings Solo mentioned above won't alter the factory ride height while the SuperSprings...
