Features to know about

Stay Level and in Control: Up to 1,000 lbs of Front-End Support

A heavy front load like a plow or winch can make the nose of your vehicle dip and throw off steering and braking. These SumoSprings Solo helper springs add up to 1,000 lbs of support at 50-percent compression to keep your ride level and steady. They absorb bumps and shocks while helping your factory suspension handle extra weight so your steering feels confident and your headlights stay aimed where they should.

Smooth Ride Over Every Bump: Progressive Load Control

Not every trip carries the same weight, and these springs adjust as the load changes. With lighter loads, they compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. When the weight increases, they can compress by as much as 80 percent to add firmness and support. The progressive design means you get comfort when driving light and stability when things get heavy—all without needing to adjust or monitor air pressure.

Stay Steady in Crosswinds and Turns: Independent Spring Action

When uneven loads or sharp corners try to push you around, each spring works on its own to keep both sides balanced. This independent action helps reduce body roll through turns and compensates for off-center loads, keeping the vehicle more stable whether you’re maneuvering through curves or driving into a side wind.

Built for Real-World Conditions: Durable Microcellular Urethane

These helper springs are made from tough microcellular urethane that resists abrasion, oils, road salts, and UV rays. They hold up in temperatures from -25 F to 200 F and compress vertically with minimal side expansion so they won’t get damaged in tight spaces. With a simple, no-drill installation and no air lines or maintenance to worry about, they’re ready for years of dependable front-end support.

Video Transcript for Ultimate Overview of the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the SumoSprings solo custom helper springs for the front axle. This product fits a 2000 to 2005 Ford Excursion. To ensure that it is a fit for your vehicle, you could always use the vehicle fit guide at etrailer.com. Now, the helper springs upgrade your vehicle's front suspension for improved driver control and comfort. They really help support heavy front-end loads to keep your vehicle level. They help absorb bumps and shocks and they help minimize sway.

These springs feature progressive load control so the springs actually compress according to the weight of your cargo. So for instance, on lighter loads the springs compress easily at first for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. And then for heavier loads, the springs compress by as much as 80% for maximum support. Now, these springs work independently from each other to compensate for off-center loads which really helps reduce body roll during sharp turns. They're made from a durable microcellular urethane. They're designed to work in temperatures anywhere from -25-degrees Fahrenheit to +200-degrees Fahrenheit.

And the unique construction really helps resist damage that's typically caused by oils, road salts and UV rays. Now, with these installed, they feature minimal lateral expansion so these springs compress vertically instead of off to the side so they aren't easily damaged when operating in tight spaces. The best feature about the system is once they're installed you don't have to worry about them. They're maintenance free. There's no tubing to run. There's no air pressure to monitor like with air springs and it's a simple no-drill installation.

Everything needed for installation is included so you get detailed installation instructions to walk you through the whole process step-by-step. You get two springs and you get the necessary brackets or off-set plates. You get the necessary hardware and you get a tube of Loctite that gets applied to the threaded portion of the plates. The plates are made from steel and they feature a really nice, powder-coated finish so they don't rust or corrode. The product is made in the U.S.A. When it comes to the weight capacity at 50% compression, that's 1000 pounds.

Just keep in mind that SumoSprings will not increase your vehicle's weight carrying capacity. That's going to do it for today's look at the SumoSprings solo custom helper springs for the front axle.

2001 Ford Excursion
I installed these on my 2001 4wd Ford Excursion. I was having problems with my teeth rattling from the front suspension bottoming out every time I hit a speed bump or pothole. I believe the springs had sagged over time and was considering replacing the springs or installing air springs when I came across these. I've put a couple thousand miles on them so far and am amazed at how well these perform and how much better the ride is. I would recommend these to anyone. I was concerned they would stiffen the ride and make it feel too firm but they don't. They actually seemed to soften the bumps maybe because of the additional height. They raised the front about 1" from what I had but that may be close to the original height if my old springs we're indeed sagging. Still fits in my 7' garage door. I went ahead and put these on the front and rear when I did mine. The rear springs added around 1/2" of height on mine. All were very easy to install. Just used a jack to raise the suspension. Didn't even have to remove the wheels to access them.

Product installation was not difficult. May want to improve installation instructions with a few more pictures showing how to line up the unit. The rear unit appears off-center of the axle bump stop.

I've put a roughly 50 miles on the "springs" and feel have to admit this produce is a far cry from a helper spring. Feel you have an excellent alternative to the Ford bump stop and your pricing reflects this opinion. You could sell the snot out these if you sold them as replacement bump stops for $50.

2000 Ford Excursion
Easier to install than anticipated. Old ones had rotted or fallen off so the current ride is hard to com pare but what a difference. Now there is less leaning during cornering and truck just handles better overall.

What most new RV owners don't know is that the chassis that their new mobile home sits on barely has the equipment to support that new home. Adding SumpSprings is going to improve your ride and help support the structure of your home. FYI, use a jack on the leaf springs to help align the holes on the bracket to the ones on the frame.

Product is great, exceeded my expectations. Install is simple and straightforward. It’s a night and day difference in both the body roll and the handling small bumps all the way up to off-road conditions.

Appreciate you leaving a review Austin, It's always nice when a product exceeds expectations and these springs have been highly rated. Are you typically off road or do you plan on towing?

30 Minutes for all 4?! That's got to be some kind of record, Dennis! Glad the process was nice and easy and I hope they serve you well. Let us know if you do end up needing to go to the heavier duty yellow option as well, we always like to get real life experiences from people. : ) Any more trips planned for the year?

2018 ford F-250 Super Duty
eTrailer made the choice easy by offering advise on options and applications. Installation was also quite simple, though the directions were a little too simple. However, I was able to determine once installed prior to final torque, that the top plate could be rotated to align the helper springs with the corresponding flat plate on top of the differential/axel perch. Honestly, with daily driving if there is a difference I cannot tell, which is a GOOD thing. My F250 Powerstroke diesel, like most others, unladen has a firm ride. I did not want it to be more so. My 2018 does not fit in my garage not even close. So outside 24/7 since purchase, the OEM bumpstops at all 4 corners needed to be replaced and I wanted to upgrade them. These are quality no-maintenance bumpstops, and did not require any additional spacers to fit properly with my 2-2.5 inch leveling spacers. Paired with the Timbren SES for the rear, my Super Duty is set for all of my needs, including light to medium hauling / towing, for the foreseeable future. A huge shout-out to all of the people I spoke with for both purchases - thank you for all of your advise and assistance!!! eTrailer will most certainly be a first-stop should I need help with anything else I may need from all of their other and quite expansive upgrades for my rig.

I have a Workhorse W22 chassis. I installed steering dampeners and HD sway bar to reduce the "loose" steering. After installing the SumoSprings Front Spring helpers on the front end, 90% of the looseness on the front end disappeared. It is now a pleasure to drive. Very little sway from passing trucks and cross winds. I will be installing a set on the rear this year.

That is awesome to hear! It must be such a relief to not have to put so much energy into controlling the wheel while driving now.

2018 Thor Freedom Elite Motorhome
I recently purchased/installed SumoSprings for the front axle on my 2018 Thor Freedom Elite 28FE. Having previously purchased/installed SumoSprings for the rear axle I have to say that the overall improvement in ride/handling has exceeded my expectations. As always, etrailer provided valuable insights and prompt inquiries to my questions. The level of in-depth product knowledge amongst the etrailer staff is second to none. Thanks etrailer!

Ordering and delivery was quick and easy. The SumoSprings really improved the ride of our C Class RV. The only problem was one of the springs had cross threaded threads so I had to tap the treads to make it work. They were delivered in a plain brown box with no manufacture information or instructions. It makes believe the were a returned item, the previous purchaser couldn't get them to work either. I just had the tools and skill to correct the problem.

2006 Dodge Ram Pickup
2006 Dodge Ram 3500 SRW 5.9 Cummins 4x2
Original bump stops were dry rotted and almost not existent. Very easy install. Took about 30 minutes. The Sumo springs are engaged all the time. This may be due to the truck being a 4x2? You can feel the front end is stiffer over bumps and dips of the road, which I feel is ok and not extreme. Towing the 5th wheel I feel the truck handles better than before.
by:
These Sumo springs (as well as the ones I purchased for the rear of my RV) installed easily, fit perfectly and do a great job reducing vibration and improving ride quality. Very pleased.
by:
2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500
Installed front Sumosprings yesterday but have not driven vehicle yet. The front have full contact with the A-frames.
Should help with van side-to-side sway
.
Shopping around for a set to install on the rear as well.

2022 Winnebago Navion Motorhome
I’ve made several purchases from eTrailer and have been satisfied every time! Recently bought front and rear Sumo helper springs. Installation was a breeze. They have helped reduce the side to side sway caused by wind, freeway traffic and rough roads. So far im very happy with them.
by:
2019 Chevrolet Express Van
Installed Sumo Springs on my 2019 Chevy 4500 motorhome, I was looking for ride improvement without breaking the bank. These days so many products are marketed well but never match the performance that was promised. That is not the case with Sumo Springs!!! I am very pleased with the ride improvement, sway is gone when transitioning from different levels of pavement and the shock of bumps is 50% better!! Installed myself on front and back in about 1 hour, front ended up about 3/8” higher after a couple days, got front end alignment done but didn’t need any adjustment. Finished a 400 mile road day today and my wife and I are very pleased. Excellent product!!

That's awesome to hear, Edwin! Where did you head off to?

by:
these look like the perfect thing for my tired old helper springs, I put SumoSprings on my rear axel of my Jeep a year ago and the have made that ride much better hoping for the same with these.
by:
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
Sumo springs greatly reduced body sway on my 2021 Mercedes Sprinter.
by:
2009 Winnebago Adventurer Motorhome
Have not had a chance to install yet but seem to be a lot better than what was on my RV. One thing I have noticed is the old part screws into a nut welded on the frame and the new SumoSpings bolt is to small to use the welded nut. So installation would be a lot easier if you could just screw it in.
by:
Sumo Springs really helped with the bumps in the front of the 2019 Ford E350 Winnebago! Very happy with them. Super easy install even though a bit awkward to reach the spot.
by:
Very easy installation. Would be nice if they were about 2” longer to get contact sooner but they were a good replacement for the hollow stock bump stops.
by:
Springs arrived on time without any damage. Installation was completed in about a half hour with a 10mm socket, 3” extension and ratchet to remove the stock bump block on our Ford E450. Then just thread the Sumo Spring in place of the removed block. This was the easiest upgrade I’ve done so far.
by:
Put these on a Sprinter and what a positive difference they made. One can still feel the poor shape of our roads but no more jarring as was the case before. Definitely worth it.
by:
toyota Tacoma
Springs are good, working well. My Tacoma is stock (no lift). With the front end jacked up and wheel/tires totally suspended I was not able to get the springs mounted. I had to cut off about 1/4 inch of threads to get them into position to screw then in. Once that was done everything was ok.
by:
gmc Sierra
Installation in a 2022 Sierra 2500HD was easy, used large Channel locks to remove factory, new ones popped in by blocking them with wood wedge while vehicle was jacked up and releasing jack quickly so all weight would come down at once.
Only have aprox 100 miles on new Bump Stops but ride feels smoother as they are engaged at rest, unlike factory that engage on bumps. Need more miles to fully review.
