Rear Suspension Support

Towing or hauling a heavy load can cause rear sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the rear axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the weight of your vehicle. And because there is less weight on your front axle, your front tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your vehicle's factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.

Installed spring when it is not compressed

SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The closed-cell urethane material allows for smooth contact between the springs and your vehicle. And the springs act like a shock absorber to dampen road vibration.

Installed spring when it is compressed

The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy rear load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your front tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. The springs also support your factory suspension, which helps prevent sagging and reduces bottoming out.

The springs work independently from one another to support each side of your vehicle. This action helps to reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn. This also helps compensate for an off-center load.

Durable, Custom-Fit Springs

These microcellular urethane springs are tough. They resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays that can more quickly wear out other springs, and they perform well in temperatures ranging from -25 F to 200 F (-33 C to 93 C).

SumoSprings compress vertically with minimum expansion to the sides, so they won't be damaged by nearby mechanical parts and they fit safely into tighter spots. And unlike air springs, SumoSprings require no maintenance or adjustment.

The helper springs are custom designed to fit your vehicle, and they install easily - no drilling required.

Video Transcript for All About the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs-SS25NV

Hello, neighbors. Welcome back. I'm Steven here at etrailer.com. Today, we're looking at the Sumo Springs Solo Custom Helper Springs for your rear axle. Now folks, this is a custom fit application. This will fit 2008 through 2021 Toyota Land Cruisers and 2008 to 2021 Lexus LX 570.

Now, make sure you check our fit guide here at etrailer.com. Go to the top center of the page. It's gonna be a yellow tab that usually says something like vehicle or car info. Put in your year, make and model. Make sure you're getting the right parts for your specific application.

Now these helper springs are a nice upgrade to your vehicle's rear suspension, and they're gonna give you a nice improved drive control and comfort. They will also help keep your vehicle level when you're towing or hauling a heavy load, and they do help absorb bumps and shocks and that kind of stuff when you're going down the road. They also minimize sway. They're gonna give you what's called progressive load control. So meaning this spring is gonna compress according to the weight of your cargo.

So it's just a nice, thick, heavy duty jounce style spring is what they call it. And it's gonna basically replace your factory one that you already have. That's your load stop, bump stop, whatever you're gonna call it. This will replace that one. It's made of a durable microcellular urethane, and it does work in temperatures from negative 25 all the way up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.

It resists damage caused by oil, road salt, UV rays, so you don't have to worry about these things rotting away on your anything like that. And they have minimal lateral expansion, meaning the springs are gonna compress vertically up or down to the sides. They're not gonna be easily damaged. They're not gonna, you know, they're not gonna compress sideways. They'll go just up and down, and that way they won't get damaged. Now again, they're maintenance free, no tubing, no air pressure lines to monitor, like with Air Springs and that kind of stuff. Again, a very simple no drill installation. You're simply replacing your factory bump stops with these. Now, these do have a weight capacity at 50% compression of 1,800 pounds. Keep in mind, you're not adding that much weight capacity to your vehicle. If your vehicle's ready for let's say, 5,000 pounds, this will not make it 6,800 pounds. It's still gonna be 5,000 pounds if that's what it's rated at. This again, is just a helper, and it's helping by 1,800 pounds. Folks, these have a nice limited lifetime warranty, and they are made here in the USA. Folks, that's gonna do it for our look today at these Sumo Springs. I'm Steven with etrailer.com. Thank you so much for your time.

  • Troubleshooting Weight Distribution System that is Allowing Vehicle Suspension to Sag Too Much
Hey MCM78LC (I don't think that's your real name haha), your best option is to take a closer look at the weight distribution system you are using as it most likely isn't rated high enough for what would be your "loaded tongue weight". When a WD system isn't rated high enough it basically is ineffective and what many don't know is that your loaded tongue weight is the tongue weight of the trailer when it is fully loaded and ready to go AND the cargo weight in the tow vehicle that is behind...
