Video Transcript for Hands-On with the Hellwig EZ-1000 Helper Springs

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this Hellwig Easy 1,000 Above Axle Helper Spring Set. These custom helper springs are gonna install above the factory leaf springs on your vehicle. These are gonna help to reduce any sway and body roll. It's also gonna help prevent any sagging when you're towing or hauling a heavy load. Now these are a custom fit, but they are going to fit several different models of vehicle.

So many, actually, that I can't even list it in a graphic on the screen for you. So I would encourage you to use our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer.com. You'll select your year, make and model, we'll let you know which components are confirmed to fit with your vehicle. So if you've used that and you've gotten to this, you can trust this is gonna fit your vehicle. It's gonna do a great job for you.

So these are going to install and then flex with your leaf springs to help limit your bouncing while providing optimal stability for you. These do provide a weight capacity of 1,000 pounds. Now that's not going to increase your vehicle's weight carrying capacity. So it's very tempting to think when you hear that 1,000 pound weight capacity, it's tempting to think that that's going to increase your vehicle's weight carrying capacity by 1,000 pounds and that's not the case. There's no suspension enhancement system on the market that will increase your vehicle's weight carrying capacity.

So think of it less like a second set of hands that's helping you lift more weight and another partner to help lift weight. Think of it more like a back brace. So this system is going to install, it's gonna help take some of the strain off of your factory suspension, help to extend the life of your factory suspension. So, again, not gonna increase, but it is going to help bear some of that weight and ensure that it's going to perform well for a long time to come. This will install very simply.

You got the U-bolts here that are going to allow this to bolt above your factory leaf springs. All the mounting hardware is included. Now one thing you do want to note, this is not going to be compatible with vehicles that have composite or plastic leaf springs. It will only work with the steel leaf springs. So make sure that that's the case for your setup. Most people, when you think of suspension enhancement, they're most familiar with airbags. So airbags do a really great job for you. They give you a lot of adjustability. So if you're hauling a heavy load, you can put more air in them to support that weight. If it's a lighter load, you can let air out, that sort of thing. This system is going to be adjustable. You can adjust it, fine tune it. You can also adjust the U-bolts for off center loads and that sort of thing, but you're not gonna have as much adjustability as you would with airbags. Now, the good side of that is that it's basically a set it and forget it kind of set up. So you're not gonna have to worry about adding air or ticking air out, depending on the load. So it's just gonna kind of sit in there and do its thing. You won't have to worry about adjusting it unless you want to. So, lots of benefits to this kind of system. You're not gonna have to worry about leaks. Oftentimes with airbags, they will get leaks, but it's typically not the bag itself, it's a hose or something like that and it's hard to figure out which component is actually leaking. So this system would be a great benefit if you're just wanting to install it and not have to worry about adjusting it. It is made here in the USA of a durable spring steel construction. So that's going to ensure long lasting performance for you and this does have this silver vein hammer tone powder coat finish that's gonna prevent corrosion. So, again, it's gonna last you a nice long time and it does come with a limited lifetime warranty.
