Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here from etrailer, and today we are taking a look at the Hellwig Load Pro 25 and 35 helper springs. That 25 is gonna be rated for a load capacity of 2,500 pounds, and 35 is 3,500 pounds. And really it's gonna be almost identical. That 3,500 just has that extra leaf for extra load capacity. Now, these are gonna be a great option if you're looking to beef up your suspension on your leaf springs by really reducing the amount of sag that you have, as well as a lot of other properties that go with towing and just normal driving. And when looking at suspension enhancements on a lot of vehicles, many times people go straight to airbags, which have their place, jounce bumper replacements, which also have their place, but maybe forget that you can add extra leafs to really work with what you already have.
And a lot of times people want airbags for adjustability, but you have adjustability with this, believe it or not. So let's break it down a little bit as to what it does and what makes it special. Now, I will say, with this series, being that it's pretty high capacities, you're gonna wanna make sure that this isn't something that you're just gonna be, you know, occasionally towing. If that's the case and you just need a little extra every time you tow, you might wanna look at Hellwig's other offerings that are at a lower capacity, because this is going to put a little bit more tension on, you know, leaf packs, especially on a 3/4 ton like we have here, and it could make it a little bit rough without that load on there. Now, it is adjustable, but that does mean that you are gonna have to tighten down nuts each time.
So really this would be set up for something like a fifth wheel, a gooseneck trailer, work trailers, you know, heavy-hauling stuff. But the main thing that this is gonna accomplish is it's gonna reduce bottoming out, it's gonna reduce that sag, it's gonna help with cornering traction. And overall, it's a super easy install as well. And once it's in place, there's no maintenance. So that's also a big plus of this.
As you normally drive, it may be a little bit tight, but I'll tell you this much, it's gonna help with sway control as well. Because it's limiting that flex on the leaf spring, it's gonna wanna keep that truck nice and planted. So even normal driving, it should enhance that handling capabilities and side-to-side body roll. So nice added benefit there. Now, what's really neat with this is, being that it goes onto your factory leaf spring pack, you can still put additional suspension enhancement, whether it be jounce bumpers or airbags.
But more than likely with that capacity, this should really do a good job of preventing you having to get any more. So overall, would I pick this over airbags or jounce bumper replacements Honestly, yeah, I think these are a great option, because it's really putting a lot of that on the leaf springs, whereas your airbags, you're still using that factory suspension. They do have their place if you're towing multiple different loads. But if this is a work truck and you know you're gonna have a heavy load or you know you have a heavy fifth wheel or gooseneck that you tow all the time, you really don't need it. If you're towing a bunch of different trailers, airbags might be the best option for you. Completely up to you. But I think the simplicity of this, the fact that it's a easy installation and other things can be added on really does make a big difference. Now, something that's gonna be important is these are custom fit to specific chassis, so it's really gonna be important to make sure that you use our fit guide to find the right product for you. This one is for a 17 Silverado 2500. So if you have an F-250 or if you have a Ram 2500, they're gonna look a little bit different. It's gonna be a similar spring pack like we have here, but just the way that it's gonna sit on the springs and attach to it might be slightly different. It's gonna be the same physics across the board. At the end of the day, we're trying to really limit how far those factory leaf springs can, you know, bend before these engage. And while we have one installed on the truck, let's take a look at it so you can see what it'll look like. So here installed on our truck, you'll see that it truly does just live on top of our factory leaf springs. It's got U-bolts that go to the center pack to keep that in place. And it does kind of follow almost the same geometry as your factory leaf springs, but seeing that it does taper up at the top, these U-bolts are really where your adjustment comes into play. And that's just gonna be tightening down these nuts. You do have a double nut to keep that in place once you adjust. But when it's at its minimum, as far as getting this tightened down, these can flex, and you're gonna have a little bit of space here to where it shouldn't affect your normal ride quality. Now, if you start cranking 'em down because you're hauling heavy loads and you want these to engage a little bit more, that's when you may start to see the ride quality being affected. But to be completely honest, I installed the basic version on my dad's truck and I started noticing that it helped the handling quite a bit. So comparing these to a sway bar, which Hellwig also makes really nice sway bars, the sway bar just will move up and down, but when you start to lean, that's when it kind of centers out the truck. And that's accomplishing the same thing here, but a sway bar doesn't help at all with sag. And if anyone tells you otherwise, I'm sorry, it doesn't work that way. It is just side to side movement, where this is two birds with one stone. So I really like that. You know, you're knocking out two potential problems on the truck with one product. I think that's a win. And as I mentioned before, depending on how you tighten it, it doesn't have to affect your ride at all. And then when you need that capacity, you can adjust that accordingly and tow with confidence. So if you're looking at suspension enhancement and you come across this page and you're curious about it, I'm here to tell you, these are pretty awesome. I'm really impressed by them. I think they're gonna be a great option for you if you're looking to fix that sag and really just get protection for your truck and get the best towing experience possible.
