Features to know about

Tighter, More Confident Handling: Adjustable 1-1/8" Rear Bar

When your rig leans through corners or rocks side to side on uneven roads, it kills confidence. The solid 1-1/8" 4140 chromoly steel bar ties the rear axle to the chassis so weight transfers evenly through turns. With three adjustment holes, you can dial in the stiffness that feels right—firmer for hauling and towing or lighter for daily driving. That means steadier cornering, less body roll, and a ride that feels planted no matter the load.

Less Fatigue on Long Drives: Smooth, Predictable Ride

Long days behind the wheel shouldn’t wear you out from constant corrections. By cutting side-to-side motion, this bar helps keep the vehicle level through crosswinds, passing semis, or shifting cargo. The steering stays centered and stable, so you’re not fighting the wheel mile after mile. The result is less mental strain and a smoother, more predictable drive.

Durability That Lasts: Chromoly Steel and Poly Bushings

This setup is built to hold up. The sway bar is made from tough 4140 chromoly steel finished in a corrosion-resistant silver vein hammer-tone powder coat. The mounting brackets and end links get a matching black powder coat for extra protection. Polyurethane bushings resist wear from oil, gasoline, and ozone—so they won’t squish out or break down like rubber. Less wear means longer-lasting support and consistent performance over time.

Straightforward Installation: No Drilling, Hardware Included

Getting better handling shouldn’t mean tearing your rig apart. This system bolts on easily with the included zinc-plated mounting hardware, step-by-step instructions, and bushing lubricant. No drilling required—just bolt it up, torque it down, and you’re ready to feel the difference on the road.

Video Transcript for Hellwig Big Wig Rear Anti-Sway Bar Manufacturer Discussion

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today I'm with Vern from Hellwig, and we have some sway bars here and I've put sway bars on my own personal vehicles for kind of more of a motor sport feel. And so something like this makes a world of difference. First turn, just everyday driving. But I've also installed larger ones. This is for an F53 RV chassis and you wouldn't expect an RV to make a huge difference with sway bars or think about performance, but they're top heavy. And the first thing you notice as soon as you put one of these on, just stabilize it.

So what exactly does a sway bar do You know, a sway bar really works to keep a vehicle level at all time. And a level vehicle is a safe vehicle. So you have, when you go into a corner or hit a curb, going over a curb, your vehicle wants to go side to side. And that sway bar actively works to bring you back to level every time. So how does one take a sway bar and get it mounted up to their vehicle So typically, it's a pretty simple.

It mounts in four places. So you can see here, here is the sway bar, it mounts to the axle and then at the end it mounts with end lengths to the frame of the vehicle. So for instance, the end link would attach to the end of the sway bar and this would attach to the frame. So at that point it's mounted in four places, it's secure and it works, the sway bar moves with the frame rolling on the vehicle. So how does this have movement As the vehicle rolls, the sway bar is really a giant spring that wants to return to levels.

So as the vehicle rolls from side to side, it works to bring it, the spring action works to bring it right back to the level place. So is it squeaky at all or is there any road noise that comes from it You know, they come from the factory with rubber bushings. Every vehicle is a front sway bar. It comes with rubber bushings. Rubber bushings are great for when they're brand new, but rubber deteriorates.

Hellwig supplies in every kit. Urethane bushings with bushing grease. And when you mount it on there, the biggest problem with polyurethane bushings is when they dry out, they squeak. When have a hammer tone finish here and it really has little divots in it. And when you grease these up and put the polyurethane bushing on it, they really do a great job of holding that grease in there forever. You should never have to re-grease it there. So there's a rhyme and reason to our hammer tone finish. Brad So it creates little pockets, basically, to hold that lubricant in rather than pushing it out and drying out. Vern Correct, a smooth finish would, it just washes out of there pretty fast. So that's why we do the hammer tone finish. Now sway bars, I'm a big fan of them, but many people want to use jounce bumpers or airbags to kind of counteract that sway. What's your take on that We still helper springs and one thing that a jounce bumper or a helper spring can do is they can help limit sway. So what they do is they bring it to it and they come to a stop. So it does limit the sway, but only a sway bar actively works to bring it back to level. We wish we had a product that did both, but you really need a sway bar to bring it back to level. So a sway bar's actively always there fighting against it whereas your downs bumper you do have to close that gap before it engages. And really, I mean it does limit how far the vehicle will sway over. So they can still use jounce bumpers or airbags in conjunction with an aftermarket sway bar. Yeah, absolutely. And if somebody wanted to run SumoSprings or even our helper springs, they work well together. Now Hellwig also offers the Big Wig series. What is that The Big Wig series is a larger diameter sway bar really designed for the 3/4-ton and one ton truck crowd. The Big Wig really shines when you have a cab over camper or anything that creates a vehicle to be top heavy and sway more so it's really designed for a working truck. You can still use the Big Wig even if you don't tow or haul loads too. It's our adjustability. Let's use the Big Wig for that. In fact, anytime somebody has a one ton truck, I always recommend the Big Wig. So adding sway bars, just kind of to wrap everything up. I've seen the difference. I've seen the reviews I've gotten to install sway bars and see before and after. It makes a world of difference. Hard to quantify. It's something, a feel that only the driver feels and it really makes a world of difference. So if you have that top heavy feel, whether it be from a muscle car and you just want a little bit better turn in, a little bit more tight feeling and just kind of a nice planted car for more grip, or you wanna make your RV just a better driving experience and everything in between, Hellwig probably has a product for you. You know, the one thing we hear over and over is when somebody puts on a sway bar, the difference is night and day. It truly is. And once you get one installed, you'll see we're not just talking. This is truly an awesome product. And the great part about suspension additives like this is, once it's installed, there's really no real maintenance and you get the benefits of it every time you drive. So Verne, thank you so much for coming out here and representing Hellwig and giving us a little bit of a insight into sway bars. Well, we appreciate being here and look forward to taking care of your neighbors.

Nice product, e trailer was great, very good service

by:

The sway bar itself is a '5'on my 2025 F150, but the install instructions are all over the place (a '3'). It took me about 5 hours to finish installing it, between the youtube videos and the instructions. I'm sure it would be faster if I did another.
The issue I ran into was some part placement on the axle to work around the brake lines and the best process to level it. Leveling was in the videos, but not in the written directions. Also - when you torque down on the bushings to spec, it squeezes them a bit more that looks "kosher". Some better guidance on that would help.
In all - I did notice an improvement on cornering with/without a load and feel it is a benefit.

by:

Fast free shipping and was easy to install with no problems at all

by:

It's an amazing improvement over the stock sway bar. I don't see any need to use the outer attachment point. It gives you plenty of bar at the lower setting. The mounting hardware and bushings are much better than the stock attachment bracket and bushings. The truck stays flat in a curve. Bottom line: Just buy it!

by:

Easy install and definitely stiffer cornering. Can't wait to try with trailer.

by:

Easy installation on Ram 1500 classic 2wd. Took about 1.5 hrs including the test drive. Didn't have to jack the truck up, just crawled under and bolted it in.

Thanks to eTrailer support for pointing me to the right one for my truck.

by:

Ordering was easy and I felt confident that the part was going to fit based on the web site confirmation and staff recommendations. The part shipped quickly and installed easily especially after watching the instructional videos, which matched the directions.

I drove my 2013 F150 from Ohio to Florida pulling my 6k travel trailer with WD hitch, and found myself white knuckling every time a car would blow past. The sway bar reduced the trucks roll, which reduced some of the waggle in the back. Overall very happy with the purchase. I would recommend and will put one on my next truck right off the bat.

by:

Great upgrade for my truck and fifth wh eel.

by:

Ashley was wonderful to work with on my order fast shipping tech was great help the rear sway bar was a up grade from stock unit by far great Quality easy to install Hellwig makes a awesome product l will buy more product’s from e trailer in the future

by:

Nice product However the instructions are terrible! The written instructions have been copied so many times they are basically unusable. The accompanying video left out many important details causing a much longer instal time than necessary. We had to uninstall more than once do to correct the incomplete installation video.

by:

I haven't installed this kit yet, but the quality looks very decent and quality. The kit is complete. The only issue is that I have an 8.8 axle, but the brackets are for a 9.75, however, I think that if I tighten everything down correctly, it should install just fine. Thanks.

by:

I only recently learned my 2023 1500 ram, which includes the tow package, uses a hollow sway bar. Disappointed in Ram.
Using the outer most setting made a significant difference over the original equipment. In fact the difference is so noticeable I’m going to fireplace the front sway bar as well.

by:

I put a really heavy truck camper on my 2017 ram 2500 6.7 hemi and it took turns ok but it would rock side to side a couple times over bumps and uneven roads. I wasn't sure if this would make a difference because the factory one looked pretty big but it made a huge difference. This and airbags are a must for heavy loads.
I also go it a day sooner then I thought.
Very happy.

by:

Solid, sturdy and well built anti-sway bar. I installed it on my 2024 Ford F150 without removing the spare tire and the install went fairly easy. It did take some time as I was.doing it myself. An extra set of hands would make it a bit easier. Love how solid my truck feels and drives now.

by:

I installed the 1 inch adjustable anti-sway bar on my 2026 ram rebel and it works great. Even though I only put it on the least aggressive setting, the truck handle so much better through the turns now that it did before. I will test it to a 7000 pound trailer in the next couple weeks. . Definitely recommend!. Also, E trailers Service was super friendly and super fast. I received the Hellwig antisway bar in two days after ordering

by:

This is a heavy duty sway bar. The installation was straight forward and simple.
I used the middle adjustment hole as I wanted to tow an RV. I took it on an initial test drive. This unit completely got rid of the body roll. Well please and know that a little hint, wear gloves when apply the lubricant as that is gooey!

by:

Easy installation

Haven’t towed
with it yet so not sure how much it will help the sway with a 31ft travel trailer.

by:

Great quality part at a decent price and a quick delivery on my order. Will definitely use etrailer again!!

by:

For the second time in a row ordering from etrailer, either parts were missing from my order or shipping was a problem. The sway bar works fine, once I got the right parts to install it.

by:

Upon receiving the box which came on time, I took all the pieces out to make sure I got everything I needed. Two 7/16-20 21/4 inch bolts were missing. I called Hellwig customer support and they promptly sent the replacements. The bolts were not packed with the rest of the installation materials. I also want to say that the top of the box was torn open. Many of the heavy staples had come out. The box inside was torn open and a couple of pieces had slipped out. Also someone trampled over the box because there were boot marks all around the box. Very poor quality in delivery service even though it came on time. Important parts could have fallen out and delayed installation. Not very good delivery service.

by:

When lifting a jeep, body roll, increases due to the mechanical advantage of the chassis over the factory sway bars. This larger and adjustable sway bar helps correct that issue and allows for fine-tuning to driver preference.

by:

Application was a 2015 Tacoma.
Install
was easy enough. For others that may read this, it would be wise your spare tire to make certain there is no interference with the sway bar.
I have a 33" spare tire, I had to make new adjustments after I tried to put spare tire back up. Infact, May be wise if you have room to leave the spare tire in and work accordingly.

The install is new, sediments are a bit subjective as to difference. But driving while unloaded I get a bit surprised that the Tacoma tracked really well around a curve. Folks at E- Trailer were great.

by:

I really like the fitment and performance of the product. I have installed a Hellwig anti-sway bar on my last 3 trucks and always feel an improvement the way the truck handles cornering and when pulling a load, especially when there is a cross wind.

by:

Don, the sales advisor was very friendly and helpful. The Helwig Sway Bar fit perfectly and took about an hour to install. Great service and shipping. Thanks, Guys.

  • Can RoadActive Suspension Kit RAS4611 Be Used With Hellwig HE59YR Rear Anti-Sway Bar?
Yes, you can absolutely run the # RAS4611 alongside your Hellwig # HE59YR rear sway bar, and it’s actually a pretty common and effective combo. The two don’t interfere with each other at all. The RAS kit sits above the leaf spring and attaches to the forward U-bolt. The Hellwig bar attaches to the frame and axle. The Hellwig bar handles side-to-side control and body roll, while the RAS works vertically to support the rear suspension and reduce squat, so they complement each other rather...

  • Will The Hellwig Adjustable Rear Anti-Sway Bar HE59YR Work With Air Bags
Hey, Tom! Yes! The Hellwig adjustable rear anti-sway bar part # HE59YR will work on your 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 if you have airbags installed on them. I attached a photo below of how the Hellwig installs and circled where the air bags would be attaching to on your axle. Do you already have the air bags or are you looking at getting those added along with the Hellwig?

  • Compatible Hellwig Anti-Sway Bar For A 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 4WD
Yes, the Hellwig Adjustable Rear Anti-Sway Bar # HE59YR is a confirmed fit for a 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 4WD, as well as for 2WD models. If you want to replace your front anti-sway bar as well you'll need part # HE46XR as well. This front bar will reuse your factory end links so you can just leave them in place and disconnect the bar from them to save some time.

For extra support with your Cirrus 620 Truck Camper I recommend the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System # T53MR. These have 8,600 lbs of load-leveling capacity and are specifically designed for constant loads like your truck bed camper or salt spreaders. They are going to add the extra support you're looking for while helping to reduce sag and increasing your overall stability. Keep in mind, these do not increase the actual capacity of your 2024 Silverado. In addition to your traditional...
