Easy to install and held up well over the winter
After one year of owning, the racks have held up really well. I used these to attach a pair of kayak racks to my roof, and neither have been removed since installation, and have been sturdy and keep my kayaks in place when I need to move them.
The rails are rated for 150lbs, the carriers and the kayaks are well under the weight, there is a little bowing under the load but not bad. To be honest I expected worse having read some of the other reviews.
It was an exact fit with my 2016 Ford Escape (if you already have the roof rails). They are reasonably to put on and take off with out tools. The add some noise to the which can be a little annoying and a reason to take them off when not in use. The black paint on my has started to rub off after less than a few month. These are value priced bars for sure. Buy them if you want to save a little money, but they are not the best build quality.
I have had this roof rack for one year now and have no complaints! I installed it on a 2017 Nissan Rouge. It was heavily used for hauling my kayak and canoe throughout the pandemic since it was one of the only activities we could do. It was easy to install and attach J hooks to for my kayak. Would definitely purchase again!
The curt racks do not fit so I am sending them back. The bottom of the clamp sites on the roof and there is clearance between the rack and the the top of the side rail. That means there would be point loading on my roof. I specifically pick that rack as it indicated that it fit a 2021 VW Tiguan and unfortunately it does not. It may fit older Tiguans but not a 2021. And it does have a raised side rail but not as high as my 2010 Subaru Forester which I am selling. I have a after market set of roof racks for it already and do not fit the new Tiguan either and that is why I was ordering ones that fit. You should change your website to save others from this frustration.
Installing the " Curt Roof Rack for Raised Side Rails - Aluminum - Black - 53-3/8" Long
Item # C18118" was a breeze and they worked as intended. I looked over the installation sheet that came with the rack, and since I had done this in the past, well no biggy it was easy. All you got to do is center the bars over the roof, tighten them to the side rails and off you go. After I installed the bars, I split open some 1" diameter foam pipe insulation from the Depot and taped it to the bars to provide extra cushion. I stacked 2-40lbs kayaks on the bars in my VW Jetta wagon and off we went. I recommend these to anyone. Thanks

It's very easy to install, It didn't take 10 min from me to put the roof rack on top. I just noticed that one of them has a minor curve in the middle but not big deal to worry about

Solid item. Bought it for my 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness. Also purchased the Yakima Ski/Snowboard rack in addition to these cross bars. Will write a review after a year of owning it.
Works great on our RAV4 with enough weight rating to carry our two bicycles (still had to get bike racks to attach to this rack of course). On a long road trip (thousands of miles) with a significant temperature change the rack did eventually edge backwards and we had to move it forward again and re-tighten it, but seems like that might not be unexpected in such a situation. Overall very satisfied after a year of owning and using.

I think for the price point these cross bars are great. If you’re needing them for a tent or heavy duty, perhaps not the best choice. I’m no expert, that’s just what I think. I was relieved to find these as a Subaru Wilderness owner due to the lack of crossbar options and dependable information out there. I just wanted something good enough to hold some snowboards/skis, maybe a surfboard, but don’t care about the fancy name brands. I’m sure there are sleeker sets but I find these black Curt’s to look just fine. Came with 2 sets of keys, of course hardware, and took 40 minutes to assemble including the Thule snowboard rack. The next test will be how noisy they are, which I still think considering these will be on temporarily for a few months out of the year, I can deal.
I recently ordered these bars for my wife’s 2016 Toyota RAV4. James was very helpful on the phone and they arrived very fast.
Unfortunately, the bars did not pass the test. After a 35 mile trip with my wife’s kayak on top (55 lbs), we arrived with the bars bent. Even after removing the kayak, the bars did not go back up. Because they were bent, the bottom of the Thule Compass Kayak and SUP Carrier kept hitting the top of the RAV4.
We followed the instructions to the letter during installation. Needless to say, we returned these crossbars and went with the Rola Rail Extreme RBU Series Roof Rack. Much better experience.

Very satisfied with this roof rack! Easy to install, and works well with the kayak racks I use. There is some noise as you would expect, a slight whistle, but nothing my music doesn’t cover up easily. I leave them on all the time!
The cross bar set took 20 minutes to install and the rod holder took about 30 minutes (most of the time spent was alignment of cross bar and rod holder. IF we decide to do my wife Subaru we will use Etrailer again.
