Video Transcript for 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Putco Element Window Rain Guards: Complete Installation

Andy: Hello, everyone. Andy here with etrailer.com and today we're going to take a look at the Putco Element Window Rain Visors on our 2018 Chevy Silverado 3500. A couple of nice features about having a window rain guard is going to be that whenever you're driving down the road, whether it is raining or snowing, this is going to allow you to crack your window to allow that fresh air in and circulate without getting any of those elements inside the vehicle. Another thing that's nice is they are streamlined and designed to be a little bit closer to the body of the vehicle. So it's going to help with reducing wind noise as well. So as you can see here, also, it does come in chrome finish.

It's nice to have that option when you are going to match your door handles or your door trim, as you can see here. But if you're not a fan of the chrome or you don't have these chrome options on your vehicle, they do come in a tinted version as well.Now, the installation is extremely easy and straightforward, so let's take a look at that now. What you're going to want to do first is get a little bit of rubbing alcohol and clean out inside the seal, that way you get the most adhesion with the adhesive tape that's on the window visors. Also, what you can do is just get a towel and either a plastic tool like this, or maybe even a driver's license or an old credit card, that way we don't rip or tear that seal. And you're just going to want to rub the alcohol where that adhesive tape is going to make contact.

And as you can see, just with one pass that there's quite a bit of dirt. So we want to make sure and try and get that as clean as possible. So now that we have our trim on the inside cleaned up with the alcohol, we can go ahead and what I like to do first is the backdoor.I'm going to go ahead and remove just the two sides on the corners of the adhesive tape. And then I'm just going to go ahead and peel down just a little corner right there. That way, when I get it in place, I can peel it and then make sure that seal is good.

So I'm kind of crooked to get this into place correctly and then slide it to there. And from here, you'll want to kind of push it up. You can adjust it a little bit where need be, and then I'm going to go ahead and remove that last piece of tape, making a little bit of an adjustment, and then kind of just putting a little of pressure on it right now. And from here, we'll go ahead and roll our window up and that will kind of seat everything and make sure it's secure. Now, for the front door, what we're going to go ahead and do is remove the tape there and the tape on this section as well.And then we can just fold down a corner of this section that goes across the top.

And what I found is easiest is going ahead and installing this corner first. We're just going to kind of slide it in position. And then from there we can bend and put the front section underneath our seal. And we'll go ahead and remove our strip from our adhesive tape. And then we can put some pressure on the window visor and we can get our window rolled up now. So now that we have this side installed we can go ahead and move to the passenger side and get that one done. So that's going to do it for our look at the Putco Element Window Rain Visors on our 2018 Chevy Silverado 3500.
