Video Transcript for In-Depth Review of the Valterra Waste Valve for RV Gray Water Tank

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Valterra spigot and hub RV waste valve. This is an inch and a half waste valve. It's designed for inch and a half plumbing systems. It's going to allow you to add replace, repair, or upgrade to a new valve. It's going to feature internal seals that's going to provide leak proof performance. It's got this stainless steel shaft on the unit.

It's very strong and durable as well as corrosion resistant. This unit does not come with a handle. Handles are sold separately. To check out some options you can look at what we have here at etrailer.com, we do offer some handles that would go with this unit. The handle would simply thread onto the shaft. A few measurements I want to go over with you real quick.

The length of the unit, with it in a closed position, measuring from edge to edge, measuring to the top of the shaft right here it's going to be about six and a quarter inches. If you extend that out, take another measurement, we're looking at about, eight and half inches long. Really nice easy to use design. Again, the internal seals are going to offer leak proof performance. We have the smaller end right here.

If we take an outer diameter measurement of that, that's going to give us a measurement, outer diameter on the small side, that looks to be right around 1 and seven-eighths of an inch. Inner diameter, is going to measure one and nine-sixteenths of an inch. On the large end, outer diameter is two and three-eighths, inner diameter is one and seven-eighths. That's going to do it for today's look at the Valterra spigot and hub RV waste valve.

Parts are good but not as great as the service. This is the second time I have placed an order with you and both have been exactly what I needed and the service couldn’t have been better. You will be the first place I would check to purchase anything I need in the future.

The product and price are great. Etrailer had a miss on shipping.

I got this to avoid the residual grey water splash upon taking off the drain cap. It worked for that, but then the lugs broke so I threw it away.
by:
Delivery was 2 days ahead of time and correct part. Great quality.

This was an easy install and does prevent any leaks from the black tank or grey tank valves (if they leak) from escaping when the dump cap is removed to hook up the dump hose. I noted that the new valve can be removed without too much effort; however, there is a pin to insert in one of the bayonet hooks to prevent this from occurring. I think it is robust enough not to break while experiencing the vibrations during travel. If I do get concerned, I will supplement the bayonet connections with some tape or other means. I also noted that the dump cap installed on the end of the new Valterra Twist On valve twists off a bit easier than the cap on the original dump tube. I took the dump cap off several times to see if the new Valterra valve would twist off instead of the cap. This never happened; however, given I only need one hand now to twist off the cap, I will probable always hold the valve when taking off the cap to prevent the valve from possibly twisting as well as to relieve any stress I might put on the pin at the connection point. To verify the new valve connection was leak tight, I put water in the grey tank and opened the grey tank valve with the new Valterra valve closed. There were no leaks. The Valterra valve is installed on a Class B van with low ground clearance. Given the handle can swivel to provide flexibility, I will probable secure the handle to the undercarriage of the van to prevent the handle from swiveling down and possibly reducing ground clearance. I don't know if this would/could happen, but I don't want to find out the hard way. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the purchase.

It’s a nice valve. I would like it better if there was someway to lock the handle at a given orientation. For instance, I’d like the pull handle to remain in the 3:00 position. Unfortunately I can’t figure out how to do that as it will rotate after being installed.
by:
I suppose it will work ok after finally getting it. Haven't installed it yet. Arrived yesterday. Went from your facility to St. Louis, then to Memphis, then to Shreveort, then to Peoria, Il, then to Chicago, Il, then to Dallas, TX, then to Shreveport, La and finally to me in West Monroe, La. Lousy Post Office service.

etrailer customer service is exceptional. They shipped me the wrong item. However, I called on Saturday they immediately sent the correct item and I had it on Wednesday!!! Then they called to confirm the problem was resolved and I was satisfied.
by:
Using this attached to my Y on the Black and Grey connection. It works great! Heavy duty! Worth the money.
by:
Etrailer seems to be the only company that I can get things for my trailer at a reasonable price and reasonable time. Thank you guys!!!
by:
The product really helps with my dump station duties. At age 81 I find it hard to reach the tank valves which are way under the trailer. This unit extends the valve assembly and makes it easier to reach. I have had a problem with attaching a built in position clamp which is behind the unit. Consequently, the unit has a tendency to rotate and is not locked in position. This problem is easily solved if I lie down under the trailer which I don't want to do. I'm glad I bought this valve because it solves the problem of ease of use for me.

Excellent product. Had to wait awhile but well worth the wait. Been having trouble with black tank valve leaking by. Called and it would be July until our dealer could check it out. This will be a permanent fixture on my Fifth Wheel. Thanks etrailer for getting it to me.

Item has been in service for a year and still works great! No more surprises when opening sewer valve cap.

Unfortunately, I was not pleased with the gate valve. It immediately broke as soon as I opened the package.
by:
Great replacement for the shutoff I broke off on a mountain fire road. Easy to install.
by:
Nice addition to my dump valves. Provides another safety tool to prevent spills or leakage.

See what our Experts say about this Valterra RV Waste Valve

  • Replacement 1-1/2" and 3" Valterra Bladex RV Waste Valves With Threaded Shafts
Yes, if you were to remove the hub and spigot from the Valterra Bladex Waste Valve # T40NH you would be left with a Valterra Bladex Waste Valve Body # T1003DSPB with the threaded shaft rather than a drilled shaft. A better option may be to use the Valterra Bladex Waste Valve Body # T1003VP and just remove the handle that is threaded on. That will take care of the 3" valve you are needing. We have the 1-1/2" valve with the spigot and hub # T1001NH or like the other option I recommended...

  • Can Old Cable be Used for 1-1/2" Waste Valve System
Potentially - it just depends on how your current valve is connected to the cable as well as what brand waste valve you have. For example, the Valterra Waste Valve for RV Gray Water Tank - 1-1/2" Diameter - Spigot to Hub # T1001NH has a connection that screws into place while the Valterra Waste Valve Body # TC172 has a different connection to the cable and it's a replacement for a Valterra waste valve system. Let me know what you have and I'll be happy to see if we have the correct replacement...

  • Determining if Gray Waste Valve for RV is Slip on or Thread In
You'll have to look at the way the pipe connects to your RV plumbing to determine if the valve slips over the piping or into it or if it screws in. It should be obvious under closer inspection. We have screw in options like the part # T1001D for 1-1/2 inch. Either way though most likely it will be plastic welded so it would need to be cut off since that can't be undone. When you go to replace you'd need the solvent # A05-0303.
