Video Transcript for Easily Install Your RV Designer 12V RV LED Puck Light - Enclosed Trailer

Hi, I'm Matt with etrailer. Today, we'll be talking about the RV Designer's 3 1/4 inch LED puck light. So you'll see these a lot in either your motor homes, other RVs, around some cabinets, on some ceilings. What's nice about these, is they're very compact, small, so they're easy to fit into a lot of locations. I also see them sometimes in some toy haulers. Reason being, if you have a little workspace in your trailer, or you're pulling vehicles in here, these are going to offer you more light.

And what's nice about them, is they're relatively very affordable. So if you we inchesre to bump into them on accident, it's not going to be that big of a deal to replace it if you need to. I will say in most cases, you really don't have to worry about bumping into it, because it is relatively flat, very close to the side of the wall here. And again, small. This is going to be 3 1/4 inches.

If you need a bigger one, we do have some other ones here at etrailer. Now this is also going to have 308 lumens to it, so it does give you a decent output, especially at this warmer light. It just makes your interior feel a little bit more cozy. And another nice thing about it, is since it is an LED light, they last a long time, and they give you a decent output as well. Now when it comes to installing this, this is going to be really easy to do.

All you got to do is connect two wires together, and that's pretty much it, besides just mounting it to your wall. And I'm gonna show you how we approached it. So to get started, what we're going to do is grab our light. We're going to remove that lens cap. Really easy to do, is, you just twist it, pull it right off, and that's all it is.

Now, you need to connect it to our wires, so just make sure you have everything disconnected on your trailer. And we're going to start by connecting our power. Now today I am using some wire nuts. I would recommend when you do this, you should tape off the end of this as well. If you don't want to do this, if you're kind of worried about some water intrusion in here as well, you can use some heat-shrink butt connectors. With that process, you just need to connect to either side, crimp the wires down into place inside of there. And then you come back with a heat gun, and then seal the deal. This is pretty easy to do here. Your black wire is gonna be your power, your white one is gonna be your ground. I'm gonna go up and be right back, I'm gonna grab some electrical tape and make sure this stays secure. Alright, so now I've got these taped down, so I'm just going to stuff these wires back in here. Again, like an important process of this too, is to make sure you don't have your power hooked up quite yet, just so we're being safe. Once we get this stuffed in here, then I'm gonna come back through and screw this on. Now you want to be careful that you don't screw into any of your wires in here, you can damage 'em. So what I'm gonna do to start off with, is just put it in one. See if I got any holes that match up with my setup today. Not really, so I'll make some new ones. (power tool buzzing) There you go, and I'm gonna wait to put the next two on here. First, I'm going to connect power to my battery, and make sure this light works. Alright, so I have power connected to here, we're looking good. So I'm going to put this cap back on, since I've already put my screws into place. Give that a turn. And then we're good to go. That all the installation really requires. Now if you guys have any other questions, let us know here at etrailer, and again, I'm Matt. Thanks for watching.

  • Dimmable 3-1/4" LED Puck Light for a 2021 Newmar Bay Star
Hello Ann, happy to help. The light you mentioned RV Designer 12V RV LED Puck Light - Surface Mount - 3-1/4" Diameter # RD22YR is dimmable, but only when paired with a dimmer switch. There is no built in dimmer function for this light. A good dimmer switch to pair this with is the RV LED Light Side-Slide Dimmer Switch - White # 37205-12325. We have it in black too. Are you hoping to control all of the ceiling lights from one dimmer, or would you like to adjust each puck light individually?
