How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and today we're taking a look at the Valterra three-inch gate valve. Now this guy will work as a direct replacement, but it also gives you the option to reposition your valve handle, so let's take a closer look at our part and see what it does for us. So, essentially your three-inch gate valve is gonna come with the hardware to replace it. You can use your existing, but if you want to freshen it up, you can go with that guy. You're gonna get seals also for the system to keep everything nice and inside the pipe where we want it, and the cool thing is you're gonna receive the 72-inch handle. Now this handle is gonna allow you to reposition your pull handle to a different space that works better for you.
You just wanna keep in mind that you can't have any angles. However, you can curve up to 180 degrees. So this guy right here, I won't be opening the one on the RV here. However, this gate valve is just quite simple. It works similar to how your bike brakes work on your bicycle.
Once you pull the handle, this is gonna pull up on the threaded handle to open that gate. When you push it down along with your seals, it'll keep all the waste where it should be. Unfortunately, without actually installing the cable and securing it, it's pretty difficult to give you a mock-up of how this guy would work because the internal wire moves through the external sheathing. However, I will show you how to make the connections and how it's supposed to work. So you're gonna start out by taking your cable.
You get a set of pliers and get yourself a 90-degree bend. That's gonna work as your hook for going through the top of your valve. So from here you're gonna insert that bend and you're gonna make your connection here. You're gonna take your pliers, and this is a pretty stiff cable, and you're gonna need to get this guy to close off, and you just gotta be a little bit patient so you don't overwork the metal in the wire itself, but you just take your time, you'd be able to get it on there a little bit closed off. Now once you have it, this is gonna allow the inside of the cable to pull and push back in the actuator to close the inside valve.
But, again, without it being actually secured, it doesn't give you the resistance that you need in order to activate the door. Alternatively, you have a different type here where that comes with a set screw where you would feed in your straight cable, and just tighten it down with the tiny Allen key that it comes with. If you're looking to replace your broken valve, you definitely wanna make sure you're ordering the right one because it's not interchangeable between the two. Most of the neighbors I speak to here at etrailer are pretty DIY friendly, so this project is pretty straightforward. However, if it's more than you want to take on or you just don't want to deal with the dirty job of it, reach out to our dealer network, and we'd be able to get you set up with someone in your area to get that install done for you. So, again, this is Ed with etrailer.com taking a look at the Valterra three-inch gate valve with 72-inch pullcord. Have a great day.

not so good. Myself, like the above review, had to bend a hook onto the end of the push-pull cable cable. Trial & error to get the hook tight enough., I was about an ? too long. Resulting in valve not closing tightly, thus flexing the outer cable jacket, resulting in the cable not tightly closing the black water tank valve. Now I have a collection of leaked black waste collecting in the 3 pipe. Guess what happened the first time I removed the bayonet cap? A foot bath with about 2 gallons of black water. Of course I had closed up the bottom by that time. Im not a real happy camper.
