Roadmaster Anti-Sway Bar Installed

Benefits of an Anti-Sway System

The Roadmaster anti-sway bar does for side-to-side movement what a good pair of shocks does for up-and-down motion. You will notice a marked improvement in your vehicle's stability as the bar works to balance weight transfer and reduce body roll. The anti-sway bar acts as a link between your vehicle's frame and its front axle, using the axle as a brace to more effectively balance the shifting weight of your vehicle as you maneuver it. Lubricated bushings allow just enough pivot and rotation to compensate for the pressure placed on one side of your vehicle when it goes into sudden maneuvers, hits crosswinds or encounters shifting weights.

Roadmaster Anti-Sway Polyurethane Bushings

Superior Construction

The Roadmaster anti-sway bar is made of 4140 chromoly, a chromium and molybdenum steel alloy. This type of steel is considerably harder and stronger than the standard 1020 steel that is typically used in anti-sway applications. In addition, the larger diameter of the bar increases its torsional roll stiffness. The result is a bar that is not only stronger than the competition, but also nearly 30 percent better at resisting sway. The polyurethane bushings and grommets used at the attachment points are durable yet flexible, ensuring that the system is neither so rigid nor so malleable that it becomes ineffective.

2017 Ford E-Series Cutaway

2017 E-450 Class C RV. I just received the road master front anti-sway bar: RM-1139-176, rear anti-sway bar:RM-1139-147and steering stabilizer: RM-RBK24-RSSC . I unboxed everything and Wow! what a difference compared to the other items. My son and I decided to go ahead and install the steering stabilizer- RM-RBK24-RSSC and it took us right at an hour. we would stop and watch the e-trailer video to make sure we were doing a proper assembly. It is a very helpful tutorial. The only concern I have is how close the tie-rod end of the steering stabilizer is to the radiator hose. It looks like it could come in contact. What we are going to try is to get a old radiator hose and cut a section out of it and wrap around the area where the contact could occur. I will post an update when we get the sway bars installed 346938

2016 Ford E-Series Cutaway

I ordered both the Front and Rear anti-sway bar upgrade kits. The install on my 2016 E450 was quite simple, and accomplished easily in my driveway. The kit for the front was a simple remove and replace the OEM bar. The rear kit required drilling two holes to accomodate new mounting points. Other than that, it was also simply a matter of removing a few bolts, and replacing the factory bar. Some minor nits associated with the kits. The washers included in the kit for the rear didn't fit the bolts, also included in the kit. And, the instructions for the front kit didn't include torque specs for the bolts. A quick trip to the local hardware store, and a call to Roadmaster tech support solved the respective problems. Oddly, the Roadmaster tech guy read me THEIR instruction over the phone, and they DID include the necessary specs. I've intalled these kits on two different motor homes now. They work GREAT, and I highly recommend them if you're towing and it feels like the vehicle has a bit more roll than you like. HOWEVER, I would note that the difficulty of installation can vary widely. If you're planning to install yourself, I highly recommend downloading the instructions in advance, and crawling under your vehicle to check on accessibility. For the E450 kit, you'll have to be able to get under there with a drill, and not drill through any cables/lines that may run along the frame rails. You'll also have to be able to get a (typically somewhat large) torque wrench up in there. My experience suggests this can be nearly impossible on some vehicles without access to a grease pit or lift. Good luck! 302768

Dodge Journey

Two reviews - 1 for the product. 1 for etrailer. Product: Prior to purchasing this front sway bar, the corresponding rear sway bar, and the reflex steering stabilizer, driving our Thor FE30 was frequently a white knuckle experience. Our journey has frequently taken us on I-40 and I-10. Both roads are subject to high cross winds. Additionally, there is heavy semi-truck traffic on these Interstates. Our RV was difficult to control in both of these situations. Frequently we were pushed outside of our lane. The installation was super easy on all of the components thanks to the etrailer videos. I was concerned about my drill being able to fit into the tight space to drill the holes necessary for the rear sway bar. I bought stubby drill bits and that worked perfectly. I did not even need to lift the RV off the ground for any of the components. So far I have taken the RV on I35 twice. It was quite windy both times. It was like driving a completely different RV. No wandering out of the lane. The steering felt much more in control. etrailer: This is the second purchase that I have made from etrailer. Both experiences have been fantastic. Both times I contacted etrailer to make sure that I was getting the correct parts and all of the necessary components. Christina J helped me with the suspension and did a great job. The product reviews and installation videos are fantastic. I will continue to be an etrailer customer/fan. 475335

It was unbelievable the positive results of installing the upgraded steering stabilizer and sway bar to the front end of my F 450 Sunseeker coach. It reduced the wandering in freeway ruts and the drift when passing or being passed by large semi trucks. I most definitely recommend the upgrade for both safety in handling as well as improving driving comfort. 847335

Installed the RM-1139-147 Rear Sway Bar, RM-1139-176 Front Sway Bar and RM-RBK24-RSSC Reflex Steering Stabilizer for Class C Motorhomes. All three were easy after viewing the etrailer videos to install on a 2019 Ford E450 cutaway. Went test drive, on a windy day. Didn't feel like I had to fight the steering wheel to stay on course. I worked with the E trailer staff for recommendations for my 2017 E450 motorhome. I was having Sway issues and wind issues with semi trucks inside wind. They recommended a front and rear sway bar, a reflex steering stabilizer shock and the sumo springs helpers for the rear axle. I installed all four items at the same time and all my issues were solved. The coach drives very stable and the Rear of the motorhome does not Sage either. They were great help! 825103

Received my 2019 E450 front Roadmaster sway bar yesterday and installed it today. Easy install, Instructions sheets was easy to understand. Did a test drive for 10 miles, Boy what a difference. Feels great , nice and tight , now have front and rear sway bars from Etrailer as well as steering stabilizer . makes my Class C handle much easier going down the road. These sway bars are much thicker than the ford standard bars. Etrailer has great videos to show all installs. Thanks Etrailer for all the info. 811935

2017 Volvo Cross Country

Great service and fast delivery. Installed on our 2017 Class C RV and made a world of difference on our cross country trip. Hardly notice any sway at all when driving or passing trucks, not even during strong wind gusts. Had it professionally installed by a local mechanic. Highly recommended doing the upgrade. May be overkill but this was done along with the front sway bar, upgraded steering stabilizer and sumo springs at all 4 wheels. Important for my peace of mind doing some long distance highway driving. 790691

Excellent product and service from etrailer. Some folks suggest the front sway bars aren’t needed, but I opted for both front and back and it literally transformed the handling of the RV. My E450 based class C RV handles and drives better than ever. I also had the front end alignment done by a reputable shop. They increased the caster angle but a couple degrees. Which really makes the vehicle “want” to go straight down the road. No more “wandering “ and constant steering wheel corrections. I highly recommend this alignment done in addition to the sway bars, 777420

Ok so we bought the new Jayco 27u and it road walks really bad. Our first trip from KY to Key west and through torrential down pours and high winds we encountered the worst sway ever. Not to mention the semi blow by and white knuckle experience and then an epiphany through great research and a little strainer help we find road master answers all our prayers with the steering stabilizer and most importantly the front sway bar. The Jayco Jride is great for the back end of the coach but the front end needed an endoscopy to match the back end and since we added the the Roadmaster sway bar and steering stabilizer the adventure has just begun. Once you upgrade to Roadmaster you will wish you had done it sooner. Good luck hope this helps. Note it’s a class c fix it doesn’t make it a sports car and safe driving without white inuckles was the effect we were going for and road master achieved it for our E450 Jayco 27U. 752705

2016 Ford E-Series Cutaway

Overall very happy with purchase of front Anti-Sway bar. Installation required the use of torched heat and a 6 point socket to remove the two front bolts on the original Anti-Sway bar on my 2016 Ford E-450 (Thor Outlaw Class C). After using heat on the frame around the bolts for about 30 seconds, the bolts were easily removed. The new Anti-Sway bar was quite a bit larger than the original and fairly easy to install following supplied instructions. This completes the installation of the front and back Anti-Sway bars and the Loadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer. Final test drive tomorrow. 749739

  • Do Both Sway Bars Need to be Replaced at Same Time on Motorhome Built on 2017 Ford E-450 Chassis
You can replace the front sway bar only on your motorhome with a 2017 Ford E-450 chassis, but the best way to enhance the ride of your motorhome is to add an aftermarket rear anti-sway bar, which are superior to OEM sway bars. After that you can further improve the ride by adding a front anti-sway bar and then steering stabilizer. The combination of these three parts will dramatically increase the handling and comfort of your driving experience. I recommend starting out by replacing...

  • Comparing Roadmaster and Hellwig Sway Bars for Motorhome Built on E-450 Chassis
Roadmasters priority when it comes to their sway bars is top notch quality and the easiest install for the customer. This typically cuts the install time down enough that you end up saving money if you pay to have the bars installed or decide to do it yourself. Hellwig bars will work great once installed but they aren't as easy to install and their hardware isn't quite as nice so over the long haul you pay less with the Roadmaster bars. • Recommended Steering Stabilizer and Anti-Sway Bar for 2012 Ford E-450
For your Class C motorhome built on the Ford E-450 chassis I recommend the Roadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer # RM-RBK24-RSSC. This is confirmed to fit your E-450 and will do a great job of keeping the vehicle in line by constantly working to maintain its position. For a rear anti-sway bar you will need the Roadmaster # RM-1139-147. If you also want a front sway bar you can use part # RM-1139-176. All of the needed mounting hardware for these products are included. I have attached...

  • Front and Rear Sway Bars For 2019 Newmar Bay Star 31 with GVWR 22,000-lbs
From what I was able to find, there are a couple different models of the Newmar Bay Star that are right around the same length with slightly different GVWR. It looks like the model you have has a GVWR of 22000-lbs, but you'll want to check your owners manual to make sure that is the correct weight, since the weight determines which replacement parts you'll want to use. If you do have the 22000-lb Bay Star, for the Front Sway Bar you'll want the Roadmaster Front Anti-Sway Bar # RM-1139-140...

  • How to Find The Maximum Flat Towing Capacity of a 2012 Class B RV on a Ford E450 Chassis
After doing some research, it looks like the maximum towing capacities of the Ford E-450 chassis will vary depending on how the vehicle is equipped. Another factor will be the Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) due to the amount of weight of the RV body. The best way to determine any vehicle's towing capacity is to find the vehicle's GCWR which can be found in your owner's manual or on a specs tag in the drivers side door jamb. For example, according to the owners manual, the 5.4L...

For a rear anti-sway bar you can use # RM-1139-147 which will provide an upgraded bar and bushings to improve stability at the back of the RV. • Does Roadmaster Have Front End Links to Replace Factory End Links in 2013 Ford E-450 Van
My technical contact at Roadmaster told me that the Roadmaster Sway Bar # RM-1139-176 that you referenced utilizes the factory end links in your 2013 Ford E-450 Van. They do not have separate front end links that can replace your factory ones at this time. The Roadmaster end link 590147-00 that you found is actually for the rear of the E-450 van and is not designed to use with a front end sway bar. The end link that you referenced measures 8.63 inches from center of the hole to the...
