Hi, everyone. Steve here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Trxstle ARC System. This is a rooftop fishing pole carrier system. It is lockable and you can hold between two and six rods comfortably. Now this is in a black finish.
We do also carry this in silver if that's more of your fancy. That's part number TRX88VR. Again, silver part number is TRX88VR. Now, as I mentioned, this is adjustable from 6 to 10 foot. I do want to give you an overhead shot.
They do clearly mark 7, 8, 9, 9 1/2, and then 10 foot. They've even got it written here, max length. There's a little arrow here, you don't wanna go past that. I am gonna kind of push this closed. And keep in mind this is all aluminum, so it's very, very well built and very sturdy, but yet lightweight because it's aluminum.
And then I do want to go ahead and spin this so we can get a better view of the inside here, hopefully. Okay, so coming over here to the side, you have your lock here, you can unlock it, push the button that opens the handle. Now we can see the inside. Now you do have three different dividers and they give you this Allen key tool. It actually stores in the middle one, at least that's where I installed it.
It's got a slot specifically for that. And this is gonna be the tool you use to take out these dividers if you need to take them out or move them out of your way. And this is also gonna be the tool, back where I was just pushing those together, there's two Allen keys on each side and those Allen bolts tighten with this same tool to make that to where you can't expand it or contract it anymore. Now I, just for viewing pleasure, put two fishing rods in here. So obviously those are not included. I got a basic one and I got a fly rod here and reel. And again, I just kind of tossed 'em in here just so you kind of get the idea. But it's really nice, easy to lock. And then it's all, again, aluminum housing and everything, so very, very sturdy. It's a great option if you want to keep everything nice and neat and protected. It also comes with a couple of bungee cords as well that you can use to wrap up your rods so they're not flying around and stuff on your trip. You're also gonna get the mounting brackets to mount this to your rooftop. And what I like about this, is each of these have a lockable panel that you can remove to then access the bolts and the nuts inside of here to keep that also secured onto your roof rack. And if you need it, they have a riser block here. You may not need that, so just check your specific vehicle fitment, make sure that if you need that, you use it, if not, you don't have to. Then you got these clips, and those are gonna slide in different channels on the underside and the top side of this box here and kind of give it a finished look, but also keep some screws and things hidden. So I talked about expanding this down here whenever you need to make it longer for longer rods and reels. Whenever you tighten these little bolts back up on the side, you can slide that deeper inside of there and that's gonna hide those screws so no one's gonna know about that. And then of course, all your stainless steel hardware as far as bolting it together. We talked about the outside, inside you have rubberized padding, soft liners, that's gonna prevent rod damage. And this is a universal mounting system, so like I said, that included blocks there if you need it, if you don't, you don't need to worry about that. Now again, this adjusts just from 6 1/2 to 10 foot, so make sure you're checking your rods and reels setups to be sure they're all gonna work with this specific unit. The door here when I opened it, it does have two gas struts inside that assist with opening. You simply push the button on the side and it's gonna lift itself up. And those are down there on the inside tucked out of the way. Again, folks, this is a great option for you if you want to keep your rods and reels protected while you're on the road and when they're not in use. That's gonna wrap up our quick look together. Just finished the installation and at this point I’m not sure if was worth the money I paid for it. Only time will tell. I say this for several reasons. The design is good and the bulk of the carrier is made from aluminum. The main tube that holds the rods is easily adjusted and made of aluminum. However the box end that covers the reel portion seems to be made of a cheap plastic. This is the portion that also houses the lock. It could easily be broken and is not very secure. For the price I would like to see it also made of aluminum. Also the steel mounting brackets have some flex when tightening the bolts. I had it tightened snugly but not over tightened and because of the flex in the brackets it was impossible to install the cover plates to hide and lock the mounting hardware. I had to loosen the mounting bolts and insert the back plate. I then snugged the nuts not over tightening and then force the front plate with the lock in it into place before locking. Will see over time if the plastic closing lid holds up

Thanks for the detailed review Larry! I'm glad to hear you liked the overall design and the lightweight aluminum construction. I think once you get it out on the water, you'll really appreciate how easy it is to transport and keep your rods organized and protected. We also appreciate you pointing out your concerns with the reel housing and mounting brackets, as that kind of feedback is always helpful. What kind of fish are you mainly chasing? I dabble in some local bass tournaments here in Missouri, mainly at Mark Twain lake in the summer, the other times of year you can find me at the Lake of the Ozarks. Just as long as the boat ramp isn't frozen, I'm out fishing!
