Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this replacement box strut for the Thule Frontier and Sidekick Roof Box. Now, this part here replaces a box strut on your Thule Frontier Cargo Box, part number TH668ES, or on the Thule Sidekick Cargo Box, part numbers TH682, or 682100. Those cargo boxes we do sell separately on our website. Now, those boxes come with two of these.
One on each side of the lid. And basically, one end of the strut right here attaches to the bottom of the cargo box. The other end right here is what attaches to the lid of the cargo box. So when you go to flip up the lid, you can see that these hinges, or box struts, will actually open the lid for you. Now this is, as we mentioned, the struts used on both ends of the box, so it allows you to open and close the lid of the cargo box.
And also, when you open it, it'll hold it in the upright position. Again, you close it just like that. Again, this is for a quantity of one box strut. But that should do it for the review on this replacement box strut for the Thule Frontier and Sidekick Roof Box.
Really glad etrailer offers this replacement, since you can't get it from Thule. Fits perfectly on the sidekick. You will need a large clamp to press the lifter into the ball joints in the box.

Fits perfectly. Exactly what I needed.
I have a rather old Thule Frontier roof box, so the replacement strut was a bit longer than the original. Maybe newer boxes have longer struts. It works perfectly fine though. Putting together the ball joint connection on the lid took some grease and hits with two hammers on opposite sides. Ball joint on the basin went together by hand.
Very pleased with this replacement strut! It provided an inexpensive fix for my Thule Frontier.
It has been just over a year since I replaced one of the hinges for my Thule cargo box, and never had any issues with it despite constant opening and closing. Thank you etrailer.com for the excellent product and customer service.
