Video Transcript for MORryde Spare Tire Mounted Jerry Can Holder Installation - 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

What's up, everybody. It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be checking out this Jerry Can Holder that mounts on your spare tire for more ride. Now this is gonna be installed on this 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. This is a great way to haul your gas can on the outside of your Jeep. That way you don't have the fumes on the inside if the top's not down, plus it just makes more room inside for everybody.

Installation is not that big a deal. It's just a couple bolts. You remove the spare tire. It can be kind of intimidating sounding but really it didn't take us that long at all. Why don't you follow along.

First step's gonna be remove the spare tire. Just come up here. I'm gonna put it right over here, 'cause we're gonna put it right back on here in a second. Let's put the mount adapter right there. Make sure it matches up.

You want the hole here to be up top, because that's where the tray is gonna go when we go put the spare tire back on. Now we'll come back to the spare tire and remove the center cap so that the mounting adaptor can go through. So just gonna gently pry on the side, kind of loosen it up and push it back out. Just like that. You're gonna lift up the spare tire and set it in place.

I got the hardware in my pocket so you can easily reach in there and hold the tire in place and kind of screw it down. Lift it up. Get it lined up and I'll get one of the bolts back on there. With one of them holding it in place, I can go back and add the others. Let's go back through, tighten it down. Put our mounting tray into place. You see how the holes align there with the slot and we'll use our hardware, we'll use the 1/2 inch bolt, the washer and lock washer. Get that hand tightened and come back and tighten it down. Now we set our tray into place. Make sure you line up the holes in the bottom. Looks good there. And then we're gonna use this hardware and drop a bolt down through there and on the underside and put the washer and the nut. Now we're gonna come back and tighten them down. Now we're gonna drop in the mat that comes with it. Now you can peel this back and stick it there permanently but we're not leaving it on this Jeep permanently so I'm not gonna stick it on there. I'm just gonna set it into place. And that just makes sure there's not metal on metal contact and just a little nice mat for the Jerry Can to sit on. Now we can set our Jerry Can into place, sits in there real nice, gonna come back with the included ratchet strap, put it in the spots designated for the strap, tighten it down. I want to make sure the ratcheting part of the ratchet strap's upfront, that way you can easily tighten it down. We're gonna go through the handles, I think. Yeah, I like the way that looks. Pull it down there a little bit better. Come back here. Kinda push the can against that to hold that in place too while you're tying it down. You can pull out any extra in the strap, that way you don't have to ratchet that much, and then just give it a couple of cranks. You don't want to do too much, but you want to keep it right where it is. That looks about good, right there. Not getting any movement out of it. Now that it's installed, you can take another look at it. There is some adjustments you can make. This bolt here has a slot. So if you want to slide this in more towards the tire, you can and then tighten it down. We left space just so we can take this off when we're not using it. That being said, though, I think this is a good addition to your Jeep, especially if you don't want to haul the gas can inside the Jeep. You do have limited space in there or you just don't want the gas in there. You don't want to be smellin' it. You put it out here on the outside and it's not gonna bother you at all. It's gonna stay in place with the ratchet down. This thing's not going anywhere. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out. And I hope this helped..

MORryde Jerry Can Mount for Spare Tire - Tall Tray - Jeep Wrangler JK, TJ, and YJ - MR99MR

This thing is beautiful. The mount is heavy steel plate with another heavy steel backing plate with a 1" solid steel bar welded front and back. The weld beads are excellent. The extra backing plate doesn't extend out to the bolt holes so I shimmed the bolts by stacking washers, 4 standard 1/2 inch washers on each bolt leveled it out perfectly. I added spring keepers to the bolts to make sure it doesn't fall off and break my foot when I need to dismount the spare. The frame that holds the pan mounts to the bar with a 1/2" grade 5 bolt, washer and lockwasher. The channel of the frame is so tight to the bar that I had to tap it on with a mallet the first time. Once it's bolted down there is no wiggle at all. It came with mismatched bolts and nuts to mount the pan. I emailed after hours and when I logged on the next morning had a response offering to send me another hardware pack, so I'd say cs is first rate. Attaching a pic of the mount and a completion pick with my 10l fuel can.

This product is designed and made thoughtfully and is of good quality materials. I like that there is some ability to adjust how close the can sits to the spare tire.
