Hello neighbors, Steven here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at our MORryde jerry can mount for your Jeep Wrangler JL, specifically the passenger side. Now folks, this is a custom fit application. You wanna make sure it's gonna fit your JL Wrangler, so make sure you're typing in your year make and model on our homepage where it says my vehicle information to be sure you're getting the right parts the first time and information like submodels, 4x4 et cetera. Be sure you're getting the right parts. Now this double jerry can mount with the tray is gonna maximize the storage space inside your Jeep by letting you transport fuel behind that passenger fender.
Now ill throw up an image of what this looks like installed. Keep in mind on this image, it's on the driver's side. In other countries they have the steering on the opposite side, so that's potentially what you may be seeing or it's an invert image, but I can rest assured to you this one that we're looking at today is for the passenger side only. Now this is compatible with the RotopaX fuel mounting panels, that would be sold separately. This ratchet strap here on the table, let me zoom in for a better look at that.
This is what's gonna hold the jerry can in place. It's got metal tie down points here on the end of this webbing, and the strap again is ratcheting, making it very easy to tighten up over the jerry can. You get a nice hard kind of plastic rubberized material for underneath the jerry can up in the tray. All the hardware you see before you, and you're gonna be utilizing your factory hardware on the Jeep's preexisting hole, so you shouldn't have to do any kind of drilling whatsoever. It's a simple bolt-on installation right behind the passenger side fender.
Now this unit is rugged black powdercoated steel. It's gonna withstand all the elements. You kind of see it from the side there. And a quick view of the back. I've just got two bolts holding this together for now.
It's got welded on nuts already on the other side, so it's not going to touch or go deep enough to mess with your Jeep's exterior. And the parts that are using your Jeep's holes are gonna be the top and the bottom ones primarily. And two of those are behind this panel. So you'll mount the long piece first per the instructions, and then this will get bolted right to it. So read the instructions and you'll have no problem installing it. Now this is compatible with the five gallon metal military spec, scepter and natal style jerry cans. As far as some dimensions, the tray itself is 14-1/4 inches wide. It's about 10 inches tall from the side and 7-1/4 inches deep on the inside. Now overall for the whole unit, I was getting 28-11/16 inches tall overall by about 11-3/8 inches deep. This suits our purpose perfectly to extend our range in a 2001 Jeep Wrangler Sport and provide a little piece of mind with an extra 5 gal Jerry can. We use it in "the Maze" and in the other wilds of Utah. The tray is easily removed/reinstalled with the lug wrench.
Price from e-trailer was 2/3 what everyone else wanted. Shipping was prompt. The mount itself takes back about two inches of clearance, so I’m not sure if I’ll continue using it, but us well made and easy to install.
Decent product strap holes are small making strap removal difficult. Rubber vibration stop always falls outwhen inserting Jerry can. Drain holes need drilled out bigger. Not an issue unless you use cans Alot like I do.I modified the above issues for heavy every few days use.
This is a very well-built product, I like that I can remove the carrier trays when I don’t need them. I have one mounted on each side of my jeep, one for water and one for extra fuel.
This thing is beautiful. The mount is heavy steel plate with another heavy steel backing plate with a 1" solid steel bar welded front and back. The weld beads are excellent. The extra backing plate doesn't extend out to the bolt holes so I shimmed the bolts by stacking washers, 4 standard 1/2 inch washers on each bolt leveled it out perfectly. I added spring keepers to the bolts to make sure it doesn't fall off and break my foot when I need to dismount the spare. The frame that holds the pan mounts to the bar with a 1/2" grade 5 bolt, washer and lockwasher. The channel of the frame is so tight to the bar that I had to tap it on with a mallet the first time. Once it's bolted down there is no wiggle at all. It came with mismatched bolts and nuts to mount the pan. I emailed after hours and when I logged on the next morning had a response offering to send me another hardware pack, so I'd say cs is first rate. Attaching a pic of the mount and a completion pick with my 10l fuel can.

Took a fair amount of time to install. Worth it in my opinion.
Took a long time for them to get it in stock. Shipped right away once it was in stock. Bolted right up as it should. Holds a fuel or water can very securely.
I added a ubolt and security cable. The holes for a ubolt are predrilled.
Easy install, looks great and well made , sturdy. A couple of minor concerns, the jerry can that I purchased only fits at an angle and opening the door will rub against the tray so you need to be careful. Otherwise a great product!
Does exactly what I need it to! It was quick and easy to mount to the frame, it looks great, and it holds the Jerry Can perfectly.
I ordered this Jerry can holder to get the spare gas can (and smell) out of the Jeep. It worked great and was easy to install. It's easy to adjust and sturdy on the trail. It's mounted on the spare (33") and does not obstruct the view from the rear view mirror. I would recommend this product.
I get a lot of compliments from everyone who notices the two , 5 gallon tanks stored on each side of my Rubicon hybrid. They usually say they’ve never seen gas cans stored on the side of the jeep, It’s usually in the very back.. My jeep is green with the light blue accent that hybrid vehicles typically have… So I had pinstripes in that same color on the black cans, which makes the whole vehicle pop. These are quality built and rugged storage units that bow to the Jeep easily, and would recommend them for anyone going out quite a distance and would need to have the extra gas.

It has been one year since I had the spare gas brackets installed on the Jeep. Everything is working out great no regrets at all. It’s a great product and would recommend it… These are nice looking and very practical..
