Hey, there, I'm Evangeline here at etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Reese Elite Series pop-in ball kit. This is gonna be a compact gooseneck hitch ball that fits right into your OEM puck system. We're taking a look at how this fits inside our 2025 GMC Sierra 3500. Since this has the pre package in this truck, we have our full setup here that very easily and very quickly installs. With this kit, you get a hitch ball as well as your anchor loops.
Now, it makes this a little different compared to the other options is, well, it has that 30,000 pound gross towing weight capacity that most of the other options have as well. This is gonna be one of your more compact gooseneck balls, with the ball not sitting as high up as some of the others, plus, you have a smaller bag. So if you're looking for something that's easy to carry around, easy to stow, this might be an option for you. You have a 2 5/16 large hitch ball and you have this little latch. If ever needed to remove the hitch ball, you lift up on that latch, and then you can lift the ball out.
And I do recommend grabbing a bag or a shop towel for this process 'cause oftentimes, the hitch ball can get a little greasy from the trailer. Here you have the retention balls. And you can see, I pop this in the re tension balls pop out. When I bring this around and lock hand place, I'm able to drop this into our puck system, and now we are secure. This has probably one of the less movements for the gooseneck ball that I've seen with our truck today.
Another thing that secures is our safety chain anchors. So this is where your safety chains hook into. If you need to remove this, they have a little latch on the inside, lift up on the latch, and you can then lift up on the anchor. This will fit perfectly with your OEM prep system. Many different brands or trucks have a different way of their puck system to be designed.
So this fits right in there, turn it, and it's secure. When people see the designs for the safety chain loops, they often ask, "Is this gonna fit our safety chains, especially since this is gonna be on the wider side" Well, more likely than not, it will. I have an example of a safety chain with a clevis hook right there. And yes, the anchor is a bit wider, but it's also thinner. So have this in your puck system, latch that into place, get your clevis hook. And if you struggle with securing it, the trick is just push in and then lift to the side, and then your latch will more likely than not secure. So as long as you use this around the sides of the anchor, then you're gonna have a good fit. In fact, that middle part really helps with extra securing that clevis hook. You don't have to keep the system in your truck bed. If you wanted to start loading things into the bed and you want a flat surface, super easy, you can sort everything in the included bag. Now, oftentimes, these gooseneck ball kits usually have a hard shell container. This is gonna be a soft bag with padding inside, which is small, but still very functional. So this all fits right in there. You also get a cover that can put right over where that hitch ball goes. In fact, you can even use this in conjunction with your vehicle cover, so you can still have that seamless fit. And now you can load things in your truck bed. So for your Sierra 3500, when you get a truck with a lot of capacity like this, it's nice to know that you're still able to use all of it. Of all the other options, the gooseneck hitch ball from Reese, I think, is the more compact. But just because it is a smaller system doesn't mean it loses out durability, or construction, or just strength, where that 30,000 pound weight capacity and the ability to put your different types of safety chain loops. I like how sleek it is and also how easy it is to pack up and away. This was a look at the Reese Elite Series gooseneck ball kit for your OEM prep package of a 2025 GMC Sierra 3500.
