Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Front end receiver for F-150 Lariat 4WD. UPS delivered it, and I had it installed in less than an hour. I did NOT have to trim my air dam, but I suggest that you have either another person to help lift while you get it in position or use a floor jack like I did. Directions and illustrations were clear and coherent.

by:

I wish I would’ve put one on the front of my truck years ago when I put my Pontoon in the water I have to go around a curve and they are cars on both sides. Makes it difficult now that I have one on the front I can see exactly what’s on both sides. Makes it much easier.

by:
2012 Ford F-150

Finally got it installed with the help of a seven year old (because her hands were small) holding a fastener at a difficult-to-access location. The front hitch works fine. Used a floor jack to hold it in place during installation. Instructions not particularly clear or accurate in my case. I should have been told that the front air foil needs to be removed completely (and discarded). With the labor provided by two adults & a little girl, it took the better half of a day to install it. It ends up being pretty low - I had to mill and grind the bottom of my hitch ball adapter so it wouldn't catch on anything when backing up. You need at least a 6" high hitch ball adapter.

2013 Ford F-150

This is the second front trailer hitch that I have purchased from etrailer and once again the service and delivery were excellent. If your not mechanically inclined the instructions leave a little to be desired. Installation on my 2013 Ford F-150 was straight forward and took me about 3hrs. The unit is heavy duty and solidly made, so you will need some type of lifting device to hold it in place while you bolt it into place.
You ma y also have to cut out two additional notches in the facia to enable sliding the receiver forward enough to line up the bolt holes. I use this front hitch for moving airplanes and it does a great job.

This is my the fifth hitch from etrailer. Ordered on Tuesday and received on Thursday (a day early). This one took 2hrs to install by myself (I'm 71) on my 2012 f150 4x4 crewcab. The lower trim fascia can't be reinstalled. I'll be using it to launch my boat and move my trailer into tight spots. Great company and service!!

by:

A bit of a struggle to install, supporting the weight while bolting it. But once you trim the air dam, it fits like a charm. Very solid.

2011 Ford F-150

Great product (and great customer service from trailer), well built and easy to install. I've put them on all my pickups for years. Two comments on the instructions: (1) on my 2010 F-150 4WD w/o Ecoboost it was NOT necessary to cut the front of the fascia (as I discovered doing a dry fit), and (2) the instructions say to remove the air dam found on 2011 and up models; my 2010 has the air dam. Easily removed and replaced with a ? socket on an extension, no cutting necessary. Final note: it was necessary (and easy) to cut small (¼ inch) notches at the rear of the fascia on each side so the mounting wings could clear.

Absolutely. The Draw-Tite front hitch, part 65061 will fit all models of 2014 F-150. The only caveat is modifying a skid shield on SVT Raptor models.

A year later, I do get questions from folks wondering what a trailer hitch is doing on the front of a vehicle. When I explain that it makes parking a trailer a piece of cake I can see the eyes of trailer owners light up. Great concept, great product.

by:
2014 Ford F-150

Outside of the Box being beat up, this kit was amazing.

The kit came with everything needed for the installation, very clear directions and diagram. The only thing I had to supply were the wrenches and Loctite.

It took me about an hour to casually put it all together with one extra pair of hands helping to maneuver the hitch into place while i put the bolts in. (As others suggested, setting the hitch on a jack helps immensely with this step!)

Lastly, the 2' dock extends forward just far enough to easily swap hitch attachments, while not protruding past the front bumper when empty.

10/10 will buy again when i have to purchase a new truck.

Still holding strong! 2,000 miles w/a cargo rack loaded w two full coolers. no problems. Used it to help move my 6,000 lbs trailer around the yard. Again no problems. I cant recommend it enough if you value utility in your vehicle.

by:
2009 Ford F-150

Product fit PERFECTLY, although there are some conflicting images on the instructions that led me to think the mounting holes were off. Once I saw the small diagram in the corner, it was all clear. A previous review saying to use a floor jack to hold it in place while installing was VERY helpful. My call to your customer service on the perceived instruction error was handled very nicely, even though it turned out I was wrong.

Great hitch - very well made with excellent hardware - only issue I had with the instructions was re the front plastic fascia - stated I neede to cut an opening for the hitch - turns out I did not have to do that - so now I have to patch that - otherwise a very good product.
E trailer made ordering easy and delivery was prompt and on schedule.

Question: does this fit the 2012 ecoboost wtrailer tow package extra radiator in front of std radiator? Seems like it sits pretty far forward. Also, does this fit in the opening or below the bumper? Can you share some pictures of it on the pickup? I saw one front hitch that was nicely hidden in the opening, not exposed down below the bumper. Thanks!

Patrick B. profile picture

Patrick B.

7/16/2013

It will fit all models and trim levels, XL all the way through Raptor and Harley-Davidson. It sits down below the bumper, and the instructions linked on this page have a couple of diagrams that illustrate how it will attach and where it will sit in relation to the bumper. It may be possible to cut a hole in the air dam rather than to completely remove it. (So long as it does not attach at any of the locations where the hitch hardware does.) I will send an email to Rick to see if he has anything to add or can send it photos.

What year of truck do you have? I have a 2011 F150 xlt and was wondering if I absolutely need to trim the facia to get the front receiver to fit. Thanks

Patrick B. profile picture

Patrick B.

2/24/2015

You will need to trim the fascia to get the hitch installed. Sometimes there's enough wiggle room where you can get around it, but in with this hitch you need to cut 1 inch or 1-3/8 up towards the bumper, too much distance to just push the fascia out of the way.

I use this hitch to attach my snow plow blade and move around my pontoon boat. I had to remove a plastic scoop in front of the F-150 to fit it on. I also had to notch another plastic piece in front to improve the fit. It works great on my 3" lifted '14 F150. As recommended, I retorqued the mounting bolts after using it. I did not have any problems mounting it but it did take longer than I thought it would. It is a high quality receiver.

Great hitch, easy to install on 2009 Ford F150 KR 4WD, just have to use a floor jack to lift it in place. About a 45 min job. Used frame hole by tow hooks to maneuver 5/8" bolts into place. Did not cut plastic air dam. It's just slightly bent where the coupler comes out. I will be using the front hitch with dual hitch extender to carry a bike rack and load extender to carry my kayak on the roof. etrailer was great to work with and price matched 110% of the difference of a cheaper price I found. Would recommend both the product and etrailer.

by:
2012 Ford F-150

Despite the lead time briefly showing to be a couple months out after initial order, etrailer received new stock and promptly shipped it out and I received it very timely all things considered. Installation instructions included were easy to follow and it all attached as advertised to my 2012 Ford F-150 without having access to a vehicle lift. Initial impressions; I'm extremely pleased and look forward to utilizing it for my beach surf fishing rod rack set up.

by:

My front bumper hitch did not ship with instructions in English. I contacted etrailer and immediately got a human to help me. They immediately sent to my email instructions in English and gave me assistance through a couple emails back-and-forths. Outstanding customer service and ultimately a rocksolid install. Now I can go surf fishing! Happy New Years!

by:
2013 Ford F-150

Receiver hitch arrived quickly & safely. The price was very good in my opinion. Solid like every other Draw-Tite hitch I’ve had. I chose to mount it myself, really wasn’t that hard, took about 2 hours, mostly because my son was helping, well he was there anyway.

I read some instructions that say you have to cut the lower plastic airdam under the front of the truck to get it to fit, that wasn’t really the case with mine. Trimmed a couple of slots where the side of the front hitch plates could slide in. You will probably find it easier to take the lower airdam off for the installation & reinstall it after the install is complete though. It will give you more room to work in the area.

Wouldn’t hesitate to order from eTrailer for any other hitch/towing products I might need in the future.

by:
2009 Ford F-150

Received the Draw-Tite front mount trailer hitch receiver in great condition. Easy to install, it took around an hour to install it. I haven’t had a chance to try it out but it looks very well constructed, I don’t expect any issues. I would recommend this product.

by:

Your rating for shipping is a big fat ZERO. I can't even rate it cause your company shipped the hitch just cover in clear plastic. No box, not even protection on the bolt end brackets. Which ended up with the protected coated getting chipped from the metal plate on both ends.

I know it a steel hitch and it would get scape up in rough roads. But just the idea that a company wouldn't protect there investment to ship to there customers. It seem warehouse didn't care.

I've already installed the hitch for that its a 4 star. Reason being, you build a center hitch dead center of the Ford bumper for F-250/350's but NOT for a F-150 Ecoboost. That what I really wanted. So you got a 4 STAR. I wanted it higher from the ground.

Hope in the future you would build one. That would be GREAT!

by:
2013 Ford F-150

etrailer did a great job, however I was not happy with the fact that Draw-Tite doesn't package the hitch for delivery, leaving it vulnerable to shipping damage. It arrived with paint chips but luckily no other damage.

by:
2012 Ford F-150

the ordering process, follow up and subsequent customer service was excellent, not to mention the pricing was very competitive. This product will enable me to utilize my Warn winch on both my front and rear receivers, which is very helpful in certain circumstances I have encountered while out in the back country; especially on narrow roads where one cannot turn around

by:
2014 Ford F-150

The product was a snap to install. Every thing fit and instructions were very straight forward. I have a floor jack that makes it possible to install with out help. This receiver hitch will be used for a winch and it solves the problem of easy moving from the front to the back of the vehicle and easy removal of the winch when not needed! This is a well built product and a great price.

by:
2009 Ford F-150

Installed without any problems on my 2009 F-150 4WD. A perfect fit, with all hardware supplied. I used my floor jack to hold the hitch as I installed it. Excellent instructions and customer service.

  • Recommended Front Mount Hitch For A 2010 Ford F-150 With Tow Hooks
I do have a front mount hitch that I recommend for your 2010 Ford F-150 and it will attach to the frame behind the tow hooks. If you were worried about the tow hooks needing to be removed for the installation, the Draw-Tite # 65061 does not require anything of the sort. This is also a pretty quick and easy install that requires no drilling. However, it will require a little trimming of the front air dam/fascia to fit properly, but this is clearly laid out in the instructions to make it easier.

However, this hitch does not have the capacity for your trailer as it only has a tongue weight rating of 500 lbs so I cannot recommend it for your application. The best recommendation I can give you would be to use the rear hitch of your truck to maneuver your trailer as long as it has the capacity.
