Hello neighbor, this is Kurt at Etrailer, and today, we're gonna be taking a look at the WeatherTech HP custom floor mats for the third row of this 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. Now if you have any experience with WeatherTech floor mats, please leave a comment below. We'd love to hear those experiences and share them with other neighbors to help them make the best decision for themselves. And with that said, let's have a look. Okay, so we've got it in the third row of our Jeep Grand Cherokee L. And just for a note, we did move the seats all the way up just to get a better visual for you.
Now one of the things that I will say that I really like about these WeatherTech floor mats is that their anchor points are really, really strong. Once they're popped down on those anchor points, it really takes a good tug to get these off, and that's a good thing just to keep it from slipping around everywhere. You get good coverage all the way right up to this point here where there's a lip that it does come over just a little bit, and that's gonna offer some good protection right up to that point under the seat. The fit of how it goes right around this area is not very snug. So there is a possibility of some crumbs or whatever it may be getting underneath here at some point.
The same goes for as we come up along the edges here, and you'll see it really well around this area here. But with the seat down, I think a lot of that area is gonna end up getting covered up for you. So it's not my biggest concern when it comes to the fit of these floor mats. Now when it comes to coverage up between the seats, it does a pretty good job of following the rise that you see here. However, it doesn't fit as snugly as I usually like to right down onto it.
Now there is a good reason for that. These floor mats are right out of the box. We are in February in the Midwest right now, so it is very cold and very dry. These do mold best in warmer conditions, more humid conditions. So I do think if we had some warmer weather right out of the box, this would mold down a little bit better than it currently is.
As it stands right now, it's popping up just a little bit here. You could see the movement, so it's not perfectly flushed, but on a hotter day with a little bit of weight right here, I think it would fit really, really well. The one thing that I do really wish that these third row seats would accomplish would be maybe to reach all the way up to the cup holder somehow. It's really just an extra four or five inches. But I do think that this area right here is a pretty high risk area when it comes to spills and and liquids and such, being that there's a cup holder right there. But other than that, it form fits pretty well around all the areas that it's supposed to. That high wall design is gonna keep anything from spilling over underneath the seat. So I do think from the outer edge fit point, this does a good job of covering the third row of your '23 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. So one more great thing about these floor mats is that they can remain installed even when you put the third row seats down to make for the cargo area, you got a really good fit there, so you won't have to uninstall and reinstall these every time you put up or put down your third row seating. Now these floor mats offer a really nice fit. There are no third row factory floor mats in the Jeep Grand Cherokee L. So we do want to get some kind of protection back there because frankly, that third row of seats, that's usually where the little ones go, and they don't exactly have the best reputation for keeping things clean. So these are a one piece design. It's a rubberized thermoplastic. So while they do have quite a bit of rigidity to them, they are flexible enough when during installation, we can get them into some of those tighter spaces. It's a higher wall design, so it's gonna help kind of pool any liquids or debris toward the center just to make for an easier cleanup later. And it is grooved as well to kind of help get some of that dirt and debris off of your shoes. And not only that, but being a raised groove, Once that water, liquid, debris is off your boot, it's gonna try its best to kind of keep the bottom of your shoe off of that. So when you get out of the vehicle, you have a cleaner bottom pair of your shoes anyway. Now underneath, we're gonna have some ability to grip onto the carpet and keep it from slipping around. It's got these soft rubber studs. They're gonna do a good job of grabbing onto the carpet without damaging it. So overall, I do think this provides some really good coverage in the back there. There are some slight drawbacks. However, with all the working mechanisms and tight spaces in the third row of the vehicle, I do think it provides some pretty good coverage. Once again, this is Curt at Etrailer. Thanks for stopping by.
