Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look together at this CURT T-connector vehicle wiring harness with 4-pole flat trailer connector. Now this wiring harness has been designed for the 2024 Hyundai Sonata and on custom fit parts such as this wiring harness, I do recommend taking advantage of our vehicle fit guide. Just enter the year, make, and model of your vehicle and our fit guide will confirm if this will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you. This harness could potentially fit newer Sonatas, but at the time of the recording of this video, it is right now designed for the '24. So again, that's why it's so important to use the vehicle fit guide because in case this will work with a '25 or later, the fit guide will confirm that fitment for you.

So this harness will give you that 4-pole flat connector that you're looking for and this will be at the back of your Sonata to power your trailer signal lights. This is also gonna be compatible with five, six, and seven pole adapters. Those adapters are sold separately. And as you probably already saw, included is this dust cap here that you can use to cover up that 4-pole flat connector. So when this is not in use, this will protect those connection points from dust and debris.

Now on this harness we do have this black box. This is a powered taillight converter. This is going to make sure that your Sonata's wiring matches out of your trailer. This connects directly to your vehicle's battery to avoid overloading this electrical system, reducing strain on your vehicle's wiring system. By the way, CURT does build each converter using surface mount technology for consistent, reliable performance.

This minimizes trailer light yield and intensity while producing minimal heat, making sure that you get superior operation even in rough road conditions. Now this harness is designed to connect quickly and easily. You will need to locate in the trunk the wiring harness for your Sonata and that that harness will be behind the taillight housing. You will have to remove the trunk floor coverings and access panels to access that harness. Once you locate the connectors, you're gonna separate them and you wanna be careful not to break the locking tabs and then you're gonna insert these T-connector ends between your Sonata's wiring connectors and lock them into place.

These T-connectors are custom fitted for your Sonata, so they're gonna match perfectly with the vehicles, the vehicles wiring harness plugs, they're gonna snap and lock together for a tight, secure fit. Once you have these locked into place, you will need to make a good ground connection. The ground wire is this white wire and it has a ring terminal attached to it and it does come with that self-tapping screw, so you're gonna be able to get this grounded to a suitable location such as your Sonata's frame or cross member. You just wanna make sure that the surface is clean and rust free. Next, you will need to mount this converter box to a safe out of the way location. You can do that a number of different ways. If you have another self-tapping screw, you can run it through the top of that box or you could use the double-sided adhesive tape that's included with the kit or maybe even one of the many cable ties that's included with this kit. Next, you will need to run the hot lead to the vehicle's battery. That's this black wire that's coming out of the converter box. This black wire is going to get connected to one end of this included bundle of black wire using one of the included butt connectors that you see there. And then the other end of this bundle is gonna get routed to your Sonata's vehicle, your Sonata's battery, and once you have this routed to the battery, you're gonna take this fuse holder and connect one of the wires of the fuse holder with the second butt connector to the routed end of this bundle of black wire. And then the other half of the fuse holder will get this ring terminal attached to it and then that is going, that ring terminal is gonna attach to the positive posts of your Sonata's battery. It does come with a 10 amp fuse and that will plug right into the fuse holder there and it's got a cap there to keep that fuse safe and protected. Again, you can secure any excess or slack in your wiring with the mini cable ties included with this kit. And then once installation is complete, the four way connector will be stowed in an out of the way location in your cargo area. Instructions are included to guide you through that installation process. One final note I wanted to make, it is recommended that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all of your electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle side and the 4-pole flat connector itself. That grease is designed to help prevent electrical failures caused by corrosion and moisture. So on your screen, I am including our part number for that grease.
