Video Transcript for Goal Zero Lighthouse Mini Core Lantern and USB Power Hub Review

Hi, everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we are looking at the goal zero lighthouse mini core lantern here at etrailer. This mini lantern works both as a lantern, and a power bank. That makes it a great addition for when you go outdoors and you go hiking, camping, or fishing. The lighthouse mini has two different modes. First is using all of the lantern, and this has up to 200 lumens of light.

Then you can switch it up and just use half of the lantern, and at the very lowest setting, this can last for about 500 hours. This not only provides light, but also power. You can see here how you have a USB plug-in, this works as a power bank for your devices so you can plug in your phone for when you wanna charge it up. You also have a USB cable here at the front, and that allows it to recharge itself when you plug it into maybe an outlet, or even a goal zero solar panel. These have fold-away arms that can also be used as a stand.

So, if you bring these out to the side, you can then set them on a surface, and just leave them there. Now, we're going to take a look at how this light shines in complete darkness. Lets turn off the lights, and turn our lantern on. So, this is where we have it at full-power, with 210 lumens. And we also have just one side lit up for a directional light.

So, there are different options for how you wanna mount, hold, or hang this lantern up. Here at the bottom you have a large magnet, and that's gonna stick to your vehicle which provides light sticking off of your vehicle. The magnet works best when mounted to flat, metallic surfaces. As you can see, we have it mounted to our garage door, providing a light on that wall. Keep that in mind since most or some vehicles do not have that magnetic surface to mount it to, so you will have to think about where you want to place your light.

You have some different options for hanging up the lantern, too. You can either use the arms that come out, and hang it up upside down, or here at the top you have this hook, which you can use to hook onto different poles, your bag, your tent, or you vehicle like what I have here. The hook can be stored on either side of the lantern, another option you have here is as you see there is a groove, that is a perfect spot for a carabiner, which will improve or increase your options for hanging this up. Since it is so light, one use for this that I have noticed is to just clip this onto my hiking bag, that way as I am traveling, I do have a light source hanging off that bag. Very helpful especially for night hikes, because that increases visibility, and allows your friends to see where you are on the trail at all times. This does work as a power bank, but one thing about that is that since this is the mini, it has a capacity of 3000 mH, or milliamp hours. That's enough to charge most of your newer smart phones a little bit passed halfway. You have these LED indicator lights here at the front, this will let you know how much power your lighthouse mini has. As you can see it is fully charged, but you can also charge it up using your solar panel or plugging it in. While this is a great supplement to your current system or gear, if this isn't enough power for you, that's perfectly fine. I would also recommend taking a look at goal zero's other lanterns. You have the lighthouse core, or the lighthouse 600, which are larger, but also have greater capacities in terms of power and light. So, my final thoughts about the lighthouse mini is I really think it's a cute, nice lantern. It's two-in-one, which means it provides light as well as power. Now, as for power it doesn't provide that much, so don't expect too much like it charging all of your smartphones all the way to 100, but it's a nice emergency power source if needed on the trail. One thing about this though, is it is a little bit on the pricier side, especially compared to other options we have on our site. If you want something nice and simple, atak has some pretty good options out there. But, if you like all of the extra features, like the power, like the amount of light, like the way you are able to recharge this lantern, I think it's worth the investment. And that will look here at our goal zero lighthouse mini core lantern, here at etrailer..

Only needed to use this once so far. Power went out in the middle of the day so I was able to put this in the bathroom for my family to still see with the door shut. Full bright is almost too bright so I only half to use half power when using it!

by:

Full disclosure- haven’t actually used this in the field yet. But did unbox the light and tested it in a dark room of my house. It seemed very able to supply enough light for any camper or camping area. Very light weight so transport from one place to another should be a breeze. Can’t wait for my next outing.

by:

A bit smaller than I thought, but is a good thing. Going to use on the back of my slide in truck camper (I bought 2). Lights are plenty bright for application.

Bought the Lanterns as a gift for our grandchildren for when they do their farm chores. Much easier to handle than a flashlight and great for camping out. The company was wonderful to deal with and kept in touch until they came in. We definitely recommend to all members of our family to use. See you again!

After using this camping light for one year it is still a great product and going strong. Everything I have ever purchased through etrailer.com has been quality and long lasting. Great company and always quick delivery.

by:

I haven't had it very long but I really like the light and might buy another

by:

This will be a favorite item at the campground this year. A novel idea and the light output is amazing.

by:

This is a lantern I know I will use. It is very versatile and much brighter than other battery lanterns that are not this compact. I have gifted this item twice.

by:

Most Excellent! Have 3 now..
