Hello, everybody. Clayton here at etrailer.com. Here at etrailer, we install, test, and review a lot of different products. To help you as a customer, make a more educated decision before your purchase. Today, we're gonna be working on a 2020 Ford Expedition. We're gonna be taking a look at, and I'll be showing you how to install, the PTC Cabin Air Filter.
Now, changing out your cabin air filter is part of routine maintenance. It's a pretty easy job. It's definitely something that you guys can do at home. There's no need to take your vehicle somewhere, and pay somebody to do this, when you can do it in a short amount of time in your driveway. Looking at our new filter, it is gonna be constructed out of a white media particulate, and it is pleated.
As you can see here, all those different pleats in there. Those pleats are designed to trap the dirt and debris coming through our air box. Making it a lot cleaner air for us and our passengers. Also, the added benefit is whenever our filters get really dirty, it makes our AC unit work a lot harder. So, we can save our AC unit, and make our air cleaner at the same time.
This is gonna block out 90% of dirt, debris, and contaminants coming through our air box. To start our installation, we have removed everything out of our glove compartments. We have our lower one and our upper one. Now, this arm on our glove compartment that we need to remove. I'm gonna pull down on it, to hear it snap or pop.
With it unsnapped, we just wanna wiggle that out of the way. Then, we're gonna pinch the two corners of our glove compartment, and lower it down. On the upper part of our glove box, we're gonna have a rubber liner. We're gonna start down here in the corner. Just kind of pull out on it, and work our way towards the middle. If you're having trouble, you can grab a trim panel tool. Come underneath. Just kind of turn that and help pry it out. Just like so. With that released, we can set it off to the side. You're now gonna have two seven-millimeter screws that we need to remove. You don't need to remove this plastic piece that is snapped in on a few spots. So, you're just gonna kind of wanna pull on it, and work it out. If you're having trouble, you can grab a trim panel tool, come underneath, and help you get those clips unsnapped. With this unsnapped, you wanna be careful because there is wiring connected. We're gonna reach behind, pull back on our connector. Then, we can pull our whole unit out of place. Once we remove our panel, we're gonna be able to see our air box. There's gonna be a tab on each side. We're just gonna reach behind. Kind of pull that tab outwards. And before we touch our air filter, we wanna make note of which way the air flow is going. As you can see, those arrows are pointed down. So, just want to make sure that we install our new filter the same way. You're just gonna reach in here, then carefully pull your filter out. We can now examine our old filter. We're gonna open up those pleats. There is some dirt and debris in there. I mean, it was changed recently, but definitely with that dirt and debris, that's gonna restrict our airflow. Installing our new filters. Pretty simple. Just wanna kind of fold these edges up. Making sure our airflow is in the right direction. Might have to reach in here just like so. As you can see, our airflow is pointed down. So now, we just wanna slide that back into our air box. Like so. We can now install our cover. We wanna make sure we have those tabs lined up at the bottom. Will just snap back in the sides. We can now reinstall all of our glove box components in the reverse order we took them apart. And with our glove box reinstalled, that's gonna do it for our look at, and our installation of PTC's cabin air filter on our 2020 Ford expedition..
