Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at this Taylor Made four foot long Dock and Post Bumper, for a quantity of one. Now this bumper is designed to protect your boat from being damaged by your dock, or your dock post. It can install on your dock horizontally or on your dock post vertically. It does have a nice polyester cover on it.
It uses a closed cell foam inner cushion here, which is flexible enough to mount on curves or round corners. You can see it can be easily bent and attached. It provides coverage wherever you need. It will not deteriorate in the sun or mar your boat, and it cleans easily with a soap and a brush. On each side, you can see they have these flexible tabs, which allow for standard top of the dock mounting, or the unique fold over mounting that conceals the top row fasteners. I am going to demonstrate both of those ways to attach it, just so you got an idea.
These tabs measure about an inch wide. So what I'm going to do here is we're going to. I happened to pull a two by eight piece of board to simulate your facia board on your dock. And I want to try to show you the two different mounting methods we talked about. So I think if we zoom in here, you're going to be able to see here. First one is the top of the dock method.
And basically what that is, you position this bumper with the rounded cushion facing upward, and the seam with this tab here on the top of the board here. And then you line it up with the seams between the tab and the cushion at the corner edge of the facia, and on the top of the dock. And then you install your fasteners right up here to hold it to the top of the board. And then what you'll do is fold this cushion down. So with this tab up here attached with your fasteners, you'll just fold this cushion down.
And once you fold it down, then what you can do is you just install your fasters on this bottom tab into the fascia board. The benefits of this top of the dock mounting method is it gives you greater downward tear strength and more protection for the top and corner of the dock for boats with greatly sloped hulls. The other way would be the fold over method. And the way you would do that is you position this bumper against the facia upside down, with the rounded cushion part, this part here, facing away from the boating surface. And then this will rest flush on the top of the facia board. And then what you'll do is install your fasteners right here into the facia board. And then once they're all installed, what you'll do is you'll end up folding this over. So with these installed, you'll just fold it over this way. And basically this tab right here will bend over, and it'll be attached just like that, flush with the top of the board. And then you'll do the same, you'll take your bottom tab there, install your fasteners through the bottom tab into the facia board. And basically what you'll have is the foldover method design. And basically what that does. The benefits of this is the top fasteners won't damage the boat because they're going to be underneath the cushion there. And with no fasteners or bumper on top of the dock to trip on, and the bumper will be even with the top of the dock for full protection. So that's your two different methods of installing these bumpers to your dock. Now, basically, if you go to install this on a post, it's pretty easy. You just put this vertically on there. And then install your fasteners right here into these tabs and hold it up onto the post. Zoom back out. And let me just remove the board here. Now, this is a single bumper design, offers standard protection. It does measure four foot long, eight inches wide. The inner foam piece will measure six inches wide, and about three and a quarter inches thick. And this part is made in the USA, but that should do it for the review on the Taylor Made four foot long Dock and Post Bumper, for a quantity of one.
Lowest price anywhere on these dock bumpers. Super efficient-at my door in 2 days. Great purchase.
I ordered 5 dock bumpers and knew what I wanted. They did not have the five in stock but quickly pivoted and sent the four they had so I could get started on my project. Great small business with lots of offerings!
Very satisfied with etrailer. The company kept me informed about my order regularly. The package my order came in was heavy duty cardboard. Which protected my merchandise. On a scale of 1 to 5 I give etrailer a 5.
