The Thule Passage Trunk Bike Rake for 2 bikes is a good product. I used it to transport my mountain e-bike. I choose this particular unit because it can handle the weight 2 of bikes (non-e-bikes) and the weight of my e-bike is equivalent to weight of 2 bikes. Note: Must readjust the straps after mounting the bike to the rake.

The Thule Passage 2 Bike Carrier, Item # TH910XT, will not work with your convertible 2017 VW Beetle and will only work with a hardtop without a panoramic roof.
To have a bike rack, your best option is to add a hitch specially designed for your car. The Curt Class I Hitch, Item # C11354, is designed for your convertible and has a 1-1/4 inch receiver so that you could carry a hitch bike rack.
The Swagman XC 2-Bike Platform Style, Item # S64650, is a solid 2 bike rack... view full answer...
Since there is not a trailer hitch receiver confirmed to fit your 2015 Volkswagen Beetle TDI with the AdBlue tank installed you will need to go with a trunk mount or roof rack mounted bike rack.
I recommend the Thule Gateway Pro 3 Bike Rack - Trunk Mount - Adjustable Arms # TH78VR as long as you do not have the panoramic sunroof. This bike rack will allow you to carry three bikes weighing up to 35lbs each and is confirmed to for your vehicle. I like the trunk rack options as... view full answer...
For your 2015 Beetle TDI, since there aren't hitch solutions if you want a trunk mounted bike rack I recommend the Yakima FullBack 2 Bike Rack # Y02634. This bike rack is very well made and comes with the rack lock and bike locks. Then if you have step thru style bike frames I recommend using the Swagman Deluxe Bike Frame Adapter Bar for Women's, Children's, and Alternative Frame Bikes # 64005 to create that top frame rail for level transport. I've attached a video to assist.... view full answer...
For your 2014 Volkswagen Beetle if you want to be able to carry more than 2 bikes I recommend going with a trunk mount bike rack. There are options, see link, as long as the vehicle is a hardtop without a panoramic roof. The Thule Passage # TH910XT is a great, inexpensive option that will fit. And for the 3-bike version it is # TH911XT.
For the 2 racks listed above, if you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical... view full answer...
Since there are not trunk mounted bike racks that fit a 2014 Volkwagen Beetle convertible you'd have to look into a hitch mounted option. For that you'd need to start with a hitch like the Curt part # C11354 which is a confirmed fit.
For a bike rack I really like the Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack , # HLY94FR.
This is a platform bike rack that only weighs 20 lbs. The biggest drawback to platform bike racks has always been the weight of them, but with this rack you... view full answer...
We do have a solution that would allow you to carry up to two bikes on your Beetle convertible, but after checking with all of our trunk mount bike rack vendors, I found that none of the trunk mount options we offer would be compatible with your TDI Convertible.
Your best bet would be to install the Curt Class I hitch, part # C11354 and then use a 2 bike rack like the Swagman Trailhead, part # S63360. If you're planning on carrying women's bikes or bikes with a sharply angled... view full answer...
You will want to check your owner's manual or with your dealership to find the maximum tongue weight capacity for your 2014 Volkswagen Beetle.

I attached a review video for this product... view full answer...
None of the trunk mount bike racks we carry will fit the 2013 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible because they cannot be safely secured to that style of Beetle.
Since you can't use a trunk mount or roof mount bike rack that leaves a trailer hitch as your option to carry bikes. For the convertible models we have Curt trailer hitch # C11354.
This is a Class I trailer hitch so you will need a Class I bike rack and it is limited to carrying 2 bikes maximum. Curt also requires the... view full answer...
After reviewing some pictures of the 2013 Volkswagen Beetle with rear spoiler I am not optimistic that the Thule OutWay # TH45JV will fit. For a model with a spoiler you are going to want the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top rack, # HRF2. Its upper arm piece is designed to essentially bypass the spoiler. Hollywood Racks does indicate it as a fit for models with the spoiler. view full answer...
